Tamayo RestaurantNice place to eat!We spent a beautiful time a Tamayo Restaurant, their attention, specially from our server Aldo was outstanding. Congrats, keep working like this! His Recommendations were just awesome!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable night outGreat service for our group of 6 even though the restaurant was busy with Friday evening diners. Waiter was friendly and made excellent recommendations.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile the food was very good,While the food was very good, I felt that it was very overpriced. $20+ for 3 small enchaledas and not even a little rice, beans, lettuce, anything, is way too much...sorry, we probably won't be back...6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMupscale Mexican food at its bestWe love Tamayo and this trip was no exception. Excellent and unusual Mexican food that you can't find anywhere else in Denver. We loved the filet mignon with potato gratin and a mole sauce, and the tequila shrimp, but the star dish was the adobo pork on blue corn tortillas with queso fresco and avocado puree - marvelous! The staff noticed we were celebrating something, and without asking, brought a dessert with a sparkler for my daughter on a plate that said Happy Birthday in chocolate! Unfortunately we were celebrating her high school graduation, but the thought (and the delicious banana empanadas) was greatly appreciated!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Guac! You have got to try the guacamole with bacon, (we'd like to try other kinds next time) and the white queso came in a skillet w/flour tortillas was delightful. They will be repeats when we return. I had the starters chili relleno and I don't think it's worth the money! It has things I would usually love (shrimp, scallops, calamari) but when it arrives it reeks of fish smell (family sitting across from me could smell it and it's not a good smell!) and not much cheese. The chili pepper was very bland. Not a very good ratio of anything. I chose it for my main but ate less than half. UGH! Fortunately I got the Mexican corn side. Tasty! The enchiladas are a must. Two in our party had that and would get those again. Service was great.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFun experienceThe person who waited on us was very cordial and new the menu well. She was able to direct me to what items I might have that could be prepared gluten-free, and I am always very grateful for that! We also had a birthday desert for my date, which was very fun. We would definitely go again. The food and service was great. Personally, I prefer a quieter and more intimate restaurant, but if you prefer the party ambience, this is great for you.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMNailed It!Tamayo certainly has brunch DOWN. The bottomless margaritas were lovely and the food was scrumptious. Favorite part tho was the live DJ. He was stellar!! I will definitely be talking this up :)5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, as alwaysOne of our favorite restaurants! Great foo, great drinks, great service!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe innovative cuisine wasThe innovative cuisine was wonderful. This is NOT your mother/father's Mexican food. It is vibrant and creative and I would live there if I lived in Denver. It will be my first stop on every trip from this point on.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food/ Music Too LoudThe food served here is wonderful and definitely not the normal Tex-Mex fair. However, the music played is too loud for normal conversation over such a wonderful meal. The downstairs dining area is worse than the upstairs patio, except when a DJ is spinning tunes on the patio live.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than beforeI had not been to Tamayo in a few years after a NYE incident with a rushed dinner and very rude bar service that left me boycotting this place. However, my husband convinced me to give it another try since they had updated the place and I was very impressed. The service was attentive and the food and drinks were delicious.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything but valueThe food is delicious, the service was great, but it is overpriced for what is essentially a Mexican food restaurant. Many better values in the city.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst time to Tamayo and couldfirst time to Tamayo and could not have been more pleased. enjoyed happy hour on the patio followed by dinner. service was perfect and food was outstanding. tender carne and perfectly cooked shrimp. cant go wrong with all day happy hour sunday and Mondays! I will be back many times.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe wow factorWe have always enjoyed Tamayo's and consider this restaurant one of our best to visit and eat. Their dinner menu is fantastic and tkes the Mexican food to a new level of enjoyment. Ask for Lila to be your waitress, very caring5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday brunch was amazing!$35 per person is a steal for unlimited cocktails and small plates of this quality. Everything we had was delicious. The chilaquiles were a standout in an excellent field of dishes and the waiter helpfully just kept things coming. We didn't even have to pick. I would recommend making a reservation because it got busy. We will definitely be back very soon for another brunch.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNeeded to entertain an outNeeded to entertain an out of town client on short notice and got last minute reservations on a Saturday night. Perfect evening and location!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food with an extensiveDelicious food with an extensive gluten free selection5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful flavors and uniqueWonderful flavors and unique food items. Enjoyed my first visit to this restaurant.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousI'm always happy with anything I get from the menu. Food is outstanding!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMexican Magic!Chef knows Mexican flavors and tastes and uses this knowledge to riff on American favorites. Two must haves are the mahi mahi ceviche and the roast corn chowder. Accompany anything with the Serrano Hibiscus Margarita for a sweet-salty-hot treat. And ask for Leah's section for wait service that says it all in terms of Colorado cool and welcome.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA special take on MexicanA special take on Mexican cuisine--far beyond the ordinary5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Excellent ambiance.Perfect location right in Larimer Square. Wonderful food with good portions. Slightly expensive but flavors were good enough that you didn't notice. Would definitely eat again.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTamayo is my go-toEvery time I entertain new clients, I always choose Tamayo for lunch or dinner. The service is consistently impeccable and the food is always dynamite.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMTamayo is a restaurant thatTamayo is a restaurant that we often come to when seeing shows at the Temple Buell. The easy walking distance is part of that reason combined with the really good food. This is a take on Mexican cuisine and touts itself as "modern Mexican cuisine." In other words, don't expect Mexican style street food here.
My mom and I came for brunch. This was our first time doing brunch and it took a little explaining on the waitress' part before I understood that for $20 a person we could eat as much as we wanted (we opted for no drinks so we could stay awake for the show!). Once I got it, let the feasting begin!!
Between my mom and I, we ordered 10 dishes. Before you go thinking we must by massive pigs/cochinas, it must be noted that the4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food and atmosphere.Fantastic food and atmosphere. Bar area was a bit small.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I went to dinnerMy wife and I went to dinner around 7:00 on a Tuesday - very packed when we came in, but by the end of the meal there were many open tables. While fairly noisy initially, it became much less so by the end. At all times, conversation wasn't difficult.
The food was excellent, with unusual takes on Mexican fare. My wife and I shared a beet salad, chicken tamal, tortilla soup, and chicken adobado (with a huitlacoche dumpling and cilantro pesto), all with excellent flavor. Dessert was piloncillo toffee date cake - sweet, but delicious.
I would highly recommend Tamayo.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my wife her with theTook my wife her with the family for her birthday. Had been recommended by a Denver native that I knew. Wasn't sure at first, when we took a look at the menu, but we all were very delighted with our meals. Definitely high end Mexican food and priced accordingly. However, the most delicious Mexican food we ever had. The deserts were also outstanding. I The waiter took extra time to explain the meals as well. He did an excellent job. If I had one complaint, it was the happy hour drinks. The margaritas had way too much sweet and sour in them and the watermelon margarita was almost undrinkable. I would stick to the beer and wine.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always consistentlyFood is always consistently good as well as the service.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMReview here were spot on!Review here were spot on! The food was creatively prepared and delicious. Service was outstanding. Our reservation was respected at a very full restaurant. Overall a great experience.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDid not notice much changeDid not notice much change in the restaurant since renovation. Very loud - booths were too small for a group of six. Food was good - one in our party thought her meal was too salty.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat gourmet Mexican food.Great gourmet Mexican food. Staff was wonderful. Would definitely go there again. Everything was delicious.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a group of friends.Great place for a gathering of friends. A little noisy. Excellent service. Food was very good even though I am not particularly a fan of Southwest cuisine.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful dinner beforeAnother wonderful dinner before we went to the theatre. We will be back soon.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good, serviceFood was very good, service started off great but ended as decent. We waited 20-30 minutes to get our desserts..4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food and service werethe food and service were excellent. the servings are also very generous.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was fine , theEverything was fine , the waier was the exception.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMfood is consistently goodfood is consistently good here. my fave things are the huitlacoche flatbread and mojitos. eat here every time i go to the DCPA and it's always delicious.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food, slightly priceyWe arrived early for our reservation, so we went to the bar! I am a tequila fan and found that they had a wide variety of really good tequilas, so I ordered their signature margarita, aptly named the Tamayo, and it was SOOO good. I actually ended up getting a second with my meal. When we were finally seated, I wasn't especially thrilled with our server, he asked if we would like some guacamole in a manner that it was complimentary, and it was on our bill. But my entree, the chipotle camarones was outstanding (maybe slightly pricey-5 shrimps for $24?), we even got the bread pudding-which was also outstanding. I will say the meal was kind of expensive for mexican, but the quality was def. above average! I will be back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Pre-TheatreWe enjoyed the upscale Mexican food, especially since many of their dishes don't normally appear on Mexican restaurant menus here in Denver. The food is presented beautifully as well. We loved the dressing on the roasted beet salad, and that the salad was served on separate plates for two of us sharing. Tamayo is a great option for dining before going to the theatre/symphony/opera at DCPA.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, excellentExcellent food, excellent service - would highly recommend it! A little noisy if you're having a business dinner but a great find.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur party was there on a cold,Our party was there on a cold, wet evening early in the week, so crowd was minimal. Thel tequila bar was a tequila drinkers dream-excellent selection and great drinks. The Squash blossom quesadella were an original concept and enjoyed by the party. The stealk L Tampmequena was very good, but I have had better. My party also ordered the Chipolte Camarones-again, very good, but a touch bit of excellent. The restaurant is charming and a great place to share the evening. Definitely a "go back to next time in town" place.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my favorite restaurantsOne of my favorite restaurants anywhere! I have been here 5 times and I will continue to go every time I am in Denver.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful BrunchGreat Brunch! Great for sharing plate. This is a great place for a light dinner before the theatre.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AM1st time for Brunch. Food1st time for Brunch. Food & drinks generous & delicious. Server was Excellent!!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall Plate Brunch at TamayoTamayo now has a small plate, unlimited food and drink brunch on the weekends for $35/person. Similar arrangement to the brunch at Zengo. Delight experience. Works well with 4 people for sharing. $35 is somewhat more than I would pick as a price for brunch, but it does include drinks. Tamayo is always outstanding and generally our favorite restaurant, but we liked the brunch at Zengo somewhat more.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!Tamayo is the best! I think we will make brunch a regular event each month! Mark V. was an xcellent waiter and all of the staff was very nice. Food is excellent, for both brunch and dinner. Love the new decor too!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the bottomless brunch!I love the bottomless brunch! Such a great way to taste so many flavors - fun & interactive. Our server, Mark, was confident, friendly & knowledgeable. He really enhanced our experience and made great recommendations on what we should try. He also accommodated our one vegetarian and made sure he was included in each course. Food was delicious!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMtamayo inaugural brunchTamayo is pricey but has very good food and service. This past weekend was their first open to the public brunch so we had to try it out. You can tell they are still working out the kinks in some of their new recipes, but over all it was delicious. The brunch features bottomless small plates and brunch cocktails that includes several different mimosas, bloody marys and a margarita. The guacamole isn't included in the bottomless, which was a bummer, but it's one of their signature items so that is understandable and can still order for extra charge. It wasn't as crowded as usual due to the mini blizzard that hit town, as I expect that Tamayo's brunch will be very popular, esp once the weather warms and can sit on the roof top patio3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
