  • "Tamarind will change your attitude towards Indian food.It is my favorite Manhattan destination."

  • "Having been to numerous Indian restaurants in the city, this one is the best I've seen so far! Great service and fantastic food. The halibut especially is very delicious. Will come back"

  • "Tamarind has been a fabulous venue for fine Indian dining. The ambience, the personal care, sensitivity to your time, fantastic food, including tailoring it to your needs & taste has been the forte of the Tamarind brand. The folks are non intrusive and allow your social gathering / business meeting to proceed stepping in appropriately. The food and wine selection is excellent. The wines can be less expensive. Mr Walia is well noted for personal, attentive care. he makse sure that finer details are attended to."

  • "One of my best dining experiences in memory. Perhaps the finest Indian Cuisine I've ever enjoyed, but the service is what made the meal so memorable. Every employee that we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The wine steward took us under his wing and recommended a complete meal playing off the wine we had selected. He even added a side dish gratis that he thought we would enjoy. Waiters and staff were discreet and always around when appropriate. The food was just delicious with a very high level of sophistication, even the more traditional dishes you would see at any Indian restaurant. Order the Tandoori Sea Bass entree with yogurt, dill and lime - trust me!"

  • "AWESOME INDIAN FOOD! I came by myself and had my iPad. They did not bat an eyelid and I had a lovely evening!"

  • "I would rate Tamarind Tribeca higher if I were a spicy food eater. The food was just way too spicy for us. However, the service was excellent and the decor was beautiful. I would recommend this restaurant only if you like spicy food."

  • "Had an earlier miss with this location and thought I would wait a while, boy am I glad that I gave them another try. Flavors were vibrant and leapt off the plate. Service was polished and hassle free. A great place for dining on a twist of traditional Indian dishes. I loved that the flavors were not dumbed down for North American palates nor strayed too far from the original inspirations. Worthy of a try if you are craving indian food in a beautiful setting."

  • "I visited Tamarind last week while in town for business. I didn't know what to expect, but assure you I was not disappointed. The restaurant was clean, and beautifully decorated. The service was top notch and the food was delicious! I would highly recommend eating here!"

  • "Started with the crabmeat appetizer. Out of this world! Lump crabmeat perfectly seasoned. I had the halibut - my favorite. Award winning! My son had the lamb shank. Tender and delightful ."

  • "This is a great Indian restaurant. I get the chicken vindaloo and it's pretty spicy but I love it even though mouth is on fire. I Aldo love the chana. My husband gets the lamb boti and really enjoys it. We always have a great dining experience. I checked off kid friendly because every time I've been there I always seen kids leaving do if it's on the earlier side it seems fine. I'm not sure I would bring my toddler though. If you're looking for a really nice Indian with great food and ambience this is it. It's very comfortable and you can get dressed up or caudal chic."

  • "This isn't the usual storefront Indian restaurant. The modern, chic decor is matched by the hip clientele. And the food combines authentic cuisine with some very innovative nuances. Great wine list, very creative cocktail offerings and a dessert menu that offers not only traditional Indian sweets but also some very interesting ways to end your meal. The appetizers were sensibly proportioned so you could enjoy them but still have room for main courses and desserts. Everything was high-end."

  • "It was a special occasion so I did not mind splurging on the bar/menu but it will add up fast so be ready! The Halibut was a wonderful entree higly recommend! The ambience was elegant minus the scaffolding sorrounding the building. I would attend again however it must be a special occasion not for just the average "let's go get a bite" mood."

  • "Had a good over all dining experience. No dinner can match what your mother or grandmother or your better half makes, but was a close second. Even though we were late (did have a reservation, but Manhattan traffic is unpredictable as always), we were promptly seated. I was amazed at our waiter's (2nd gen polish) knowledge of Indian cuisine (stuff I did not know and I am Indian by birth). Overall a good place to dine (albeit the noise level was high, but not terribly loud). Certainly warrants a second visit."

  • "We dine out between 5-7 times per week at various levels of restaurants. Tamarind is certainly one of the very best restaurants for highly professional, very knowledgeable service. They treat everyone special as if they were VIPs."

  • "My boyfriend and I decided to give this restaurant a try and I am so glad that we did! The service was EXCELLENT and our waiter was able to provide us both with entree suggestions that we both thoroughly enjoyed and would not have chosen if left to our own devices. The food itself was not to-die-for, however it was very well-seasoned, well-portioned, and certainly delicious. I will definitely go back."

  • "I took my wife there as birthday surprise as I used to frequent their Gramercy location when it was open. She absolutely savored every moment and my daughter couldn't finish the seafood platter! The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They earned a diner for life."

  • "We came here for weeknight dinner, and I was impressed. The decor is beautiful, and the service is great. I recommend the Tamarind martini (off-menu). We ordered two appetizers and a curry dish, and it was more than enough (the curry is creamy and extremely filling)."

  • "We found this restaurant because it was featured in the book, "Where Chefs Eat", and it was not a let down. It is a large space in Tribeca, and it was nice to not be so crammed in. The service was great, but the food was amazing. Lots of the usual and more Indian seafood dishes than I've seen before."

  • "It's just superb in every way. The food is amazing."

  • "Tamarind Tribeca never fails to satisfy. The only disappointment was that the restaurant knew it was my daughter's birthday but did not put a candle on her dessert or in any way acknowledge that this was a special event. (they had in years past)."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Scallops were cooked perfectly. Carmelized on top. Incredible tender inside. Also, spinach appetizer was delicious -- disk shaped rounds of dense spinach stuffed with paneer. Aldo had the shrimp special, but the shrimp were a bit overlooked. Service was gracious."

  • "great food good service the fried cauliflower was delicious and so was the award-winning halibut.really enjoy myself."

  • "I have heard about this restaurant by few people. Had a good experience over all. I thought the food was delicious. They have an awesome wine-list! Was impressed, actually. I'll definitely recommend this place to friends / family for sure. Looking forward to going back there and trying more dishes. I'll keep you posted!"

  • "The restaurant design is gorgeous, think marble and candle light. The food selection is almost overwhelming, but there's something for everyone on this menu. The use of spices is delicious. We ordered the specials recommended, but esp liked the cauliflower appetizer and tandoori lamb. Spicy and filling! The amuse bouche which was a potato pastry w ginger yoghurt was a nice touch, and mango Cosmo def recommended."

  • "I went for lunch and did the $25 3-course tasting. The crab mayo salad concoction in a poppadom was interesting but not special. The main was salmon and chicken — overcooked salmon, good but unremarkable chicken. Great service, and a beautiful space, but the food was all a miss. I don't understand the hype and won't be back."

  • "Tamarind turns out spectacular Indian fare and the owner is on premises checking quality and satisfaction throughout the meal. A great dining experience."

  • "Loved this restaurant on 22nd Street, adore it in Tribeca even though it is so far away for us now! But it is a gorgeous space, the food is better than ever, the service is marvelous, overall a very lovely dining experience."

  • "Wow... can't recommend Tamarind enough. Certainly not cheap, but the quality and quantity of food were remarkable. Honestly, if I would have known how large the portions were I would not have ordered an appetizer. The chicken kebab appetizer and a bowl of spinach basmati rice is a meal in itself! The bartenders are quite good and their specialty cocktails were spot on (try the mint cosmo!) The mulligatawny could have used a bit more spice, but now I a just nit-picking."

  • "We have been going to Tamarind for 10+ years at the Gramercy location. Unfortunately, that restaurant recently closed, so we went to the one in Tribeca. The food was just as good. This is the only Indian food restaurant that we've found anywhere in the USA where you feel like you are having a true dining experience in a room that is done with a modern and inviting aesthetic. The food is consistently good. The service is good. However, our forks and knives were placed back on the table to be reused after our first course. Rushed to order more alcohol after two glasses of wine. That's always a turn off to me. In a time where people are more and more health conscious, I think restaurants need to move past that."

  • "Went there for lunch. Great service and interior decorations. The food was good, the arrangements on the plates looked very appealing, but the taste was very good as well. I would recommend this place for a businesses lunch or dinner, or even for a brunch with friends."

  • "The food was outstanding, our appetizer was the only slight disappointment - the food was tremendous"

  • "There will be items you never ate before, but you will love them instantly. Yes, there was curry, but it was subtle and sufficient, not overbearing. Aesthetics count, and will be counted highly here... in the room and on the table. Join all this will attentive but not fawning service, and you'll enjoy a pleasantly exotic adventure."

  • "Newest branch of this high end Indian restaurant group. The space is spacious and welcoming. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is delectable and not the usual Indian fare. The executive lunch is a reasonable deal and opportunity to sample the food."

  • "Usually when you think, of Indian food, you think of dishes saturated in curries that will have your stomach wishing you chose a different cuisine. However, Tamarind's take is some what different. While sticking true to Indian cuisine, they have managed to elevate their dishes, and you leave there with a very happy palate. I visited during restaurant week, and dined there during lunch. I had the Taar Korma, which was lamb in a coconut and tomato sauce, and it just melted in your mouth. The atmosphere screams elegant, yet fun, and exciting. Would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to try Indian food, but once to avoid the usual fare."

  • "We really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. It is an attractive space and the service was excellent. We had shrimp appetizer and a cauliflower one. Both of them were delicious. The lamb vindaloo was hot and spicy, very tasty. We will go back."
