Diner Reviews
  • "This is an outstanding restaurant in a large field of so-so establishments. I've heard people rave about Western Village, Cactus Creek and others as, "the best". In my not so humble opinion none of them offer as much overall as Tamarack. Probably the finest steakhouse in town is at Harrah's. Tamarack is not quite up to Harrah's standards except for value. For service, food quality, ambience, etc., Harrah's wins. If you include value then the win belongs to Tamarack. Either restaurant would be a great choice but Harrah's cost about 50% more."

  • "Service is so far superior to most in this town! Ask for Matt's station. He is awesome! Try one of the innovative cocktails; they are very good. Lobster bisque is amazing and full of lobster chunks. The prime rib was excellent, perfectly cooked and oh so tender. the table-side prepared Steak Dianne was also excellent. The wine list is good, not great, and there is a good variety of price points. The evening was pricey and not for weekly dining out but we will definitely return!"

  • "The food was outstanding. The wine selection was excellent and the bottle we selected complimented the meal nicely. We will be back! Thanks!!"

  • "The waiter we had was a nice guy, but got our orders confused a few times and would forget things we had asked for. He went over the specials with us twice and I had to remind him a couple times about my wine order which he had forgot. We had the lobster tail and the sea bass which were tremendous. Casey's wedge and the clam chowder were average. I thought the wine list was about right and reasonably priced for a steak house. My wife said the dirty martini she had was perfect (except we were looking for Gera Vodka which the distributor is a local Reno man, so a local steak house should look into carrying Gera). The deserts were great, but the cappuccino was poor - it was luke warm and didn't have any foam."

  • "This is our fifth visit to the Tamarack Junction Steak house and each time we have had excellent service and the quality of our meals has been outstanding. We would do again. As stated it is our neighborhood gem."

  • "Food , service was perfect! I think it was overpriced for a casino and location"

  • "The Tamarack Steakhouse has improved greatly since my last visit at least a year ago. Food is better priced. Before they thought they were ar tourist destination. Prices were tourist based with no thought to locals. Much better now. It is fine to think a lot of yourself but previously they thought they were a luxuary resort when they are really a locals hang out."

  • "Have tried most of Steakhouses in Reno and none can compare to Tamarack Junction. It never disappoints. Small and intimate with perfect service and food."

  • "This was my second time dining at the Tamarack, the first time the food was outstanding. That was not the case this time. I had the Cowboy rib-eye steak which was tougher than a real cowboy. The rest of the folks in our party indicated that their meals were prepared and tasted well. I will go back and give it another try."

  • "I have been to the Steak House several times. I have been satisfied with the results. Throughout the meal a busboy bumped into my chair seven times. I informed the waiter and it happened again. At that time I caught the busboy's attention and asked him to please stop bumping my chair. There was, by the way, plenty of space for him to operate behind me without hitting my chair with his leg. My Tuna meal was unsatisfactory. Although the waiter said it was fresh tuna, it did not taste fresh. In addition it was overcooked and dry. I was unable to finish it. Our guest said his steak was flavorless. My wife said her chicken was the same that she could have purchased at the other restaurant at a better price. All in all, I doubt we will return."

  • "My husband and I were hoping for a nice quiet dinner...that ended when we were seated on a table for two... Next to another table for two divided by a little wall and a lamp... The couple on the other side was a noisy one. Service was great And so was the food. Next time I will definitely specify where I would like to be seated. Thank you :)"

  • "The Steakhouse at Tamarack offers a great menu selection and the service is exquisite. The ambiance feels Frank Lloyd Wright and there isn't a hint of smoke from the casino. Easy access, unlike going to a large casino where you need to trek through the entire place before arriving at your destination. This was our second visit and we'll be back."

  • "The shrimp scamp was great. My friends steak was just ok. I wish they would have left the rolls on the table instead of giving you one and then have to ask for more. Server was great."

  • "This was our first trip to the Tamarack Steak House. The restaurant is quite and comfortable. We will definitely come back to try more dishes. Our steaks were cooked exactly to our order. The scalloped potato's were wonderful. We were very impressed with the service. The manager came by twice to check on us. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends."

  • "We have never had a disappointing meal at Tamarack Junction's Steak House. The staff is very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The menu has, besides steak, fish, chicken and lamb dishes listed. There are always 2 or 3 Specials of the Day. Two in our party had steaks that were cooked to perfection, and two of us had Halibut and Chicken Piccata. Delicious. The portions were generous. and the wine is list extensive. We will be back."

  • "I ordered the rib eye steak with butter bleu & garlic. It was lukewarm and the cut of beef was so tough my steak knife could barely cut through it. In addition, there was a large piece of muscle running through the center of it. After one bite, I sent it back. The waiter was diligent in trying to convince me (the patron) what ribeye steaks are like; with the intent to manipulate me into keeping such a lousy cut of meat. He eventually took it back & had the kitchen fix it. The newly prepared Steak was good. I am an avid Rib eye and filet steak eater & just unfortunately was not impressed. I brought 9 friends to dinner that nite & will not be returning. Please make sure to improve your rib eye selections for the future clientele."

  • "The service and the restaurant staff were wonderful as usual. Mine and my husbands favorite item on the menu was the lamb chops. We were very surprised to find them no longer offered. However, our excellent steak came close to making up for the absence of lamb!"

  • "At a reasonable price that affords accomodation to many budget levels for the same experience the Steakhouse at Tamarack Junction is a wise choice. Not only is the food quality very high, the selections are wide and the atmosphere allows you to relax and enjoy your time there. This location is bringing back some of the old traditions which also make this an event worth experiencing with table side preparation of ceasar salad and steak diane, as well as the masterfully prepared bananas foster or cherries jubilee for dessert. Child friendly, service animal friendly and accomodating service to a single or party of 10 or more. I highly suggest this steakhouse for your next and future outings."

  • "Food was good, not great, but we ordered the lobster ravioli and sole, instead of steak so probably our fault. Busboy was better at service than the waiter, so we tipped him separately. Stuffed sole was good but lobster ravioli was bland. Had better at the holiday in in Palmdale CA. Would go again. reservation online was easy."
