The service is above average, as is the ambiance, and the food is good to very good. We have eaten there a half dozen times and are rarely disappointed. That said, we feel that for fine dining we would more likely go to other restaurants before returning to Tamarack. He loves lamb chops, which is the primary reason we chose the Steak House. Ordering lamb chops in a restaurant is often a risk. Here, they are fabulous!! The Caesar Salad, Steak Diane, and Bananas Foster which are prepared table side make it especially fun. The Filet steak, the Ribeye steak and the Primb Rib that my party had was prepared exactly to order. The Scalloped potatoes are to die for, one of the main reasons we love eating there. The service was timely but not pushing us to hurry and leave. We had driven 4 hours from the Bay Area to our home in Reno and were ready for a special meal. We both ordered the streak and prawns scampi. The sauce was delicious! The service as usual was the best. You can't beat the Tamarack for service! Our waiter found out we were also celebrating our birthdays and surprised us with desert, a wonderful chocolate cake with ice cream. The prime rib was prepared quite well, finally have a replacement for the good old Liberty Bell.
The service was very attentive but not intrusive.
