Always a good experienceThe food and service were very good, as always. It's a great place for a quiet dinner with friends where you know you'll always find something interesting on the menu.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMReally great foodThe new chef is great! We thought the food was amazing. Our server, Eunice, was also very nice, and knowledgeable about wine choices and food. We had a great time!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mothers Day dinnerThe manager was helpful with wine recommendations and the server was friendly and accommodating of our requests. All three of our entrees (lamb, scallops, and sirloin) were very good. Mom enjoyed the experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood brunch placeI took my mom to Tallula for brunch for Mother's Day. The menu was varied and the food was very good, and reasonably priced for a "hip" eatery. The cheese grits were particularly tasty, and came in a huge portion. The bacon was some of the best I've ever had. The service was attentive but not intrusive. The place was fairly busy, but the noise level was not annoying. All in all, a very good dining experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing!Food service and the whole experience was simply amazing!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat wine selectionLove the restaurant!! We went for our anniversary. The wine selection is awesome, the service is great and the food was outstanding!!we will definitely be back5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDepends on the nightI took my date here on a Saturday night for her birthday because we had both had a great experience here a few months before at a birthday dinner for her son. I loved the ambiance on the previous occasion: it was quiet and candle-lit, surrounded by wine and heavy wooden furniture. Unfortunately, we didn't find that same ambiance on this occasion. There was a large group that was quite loud, and so every other pair of diners had to raise their volume to be heard. It was almost like a cafeteria. I'm guessing it all depends on which night you go. If you want quiet ambiance, go on a Sunday night, as we did for our first experience. If you want "energetic" volume and loud laughing, a Saturday night is your best bet.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMkeep it goingalways had a great meal and wonderful experience here5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMChef's Table is a DelightWe went to Tallula the other night and we were sat at the Chef's Table - a spot in the back of the restaurant which allows you a view of the kitchen magic and the opportunity to interact with Chef Nate. What a treat!
It is always a pleasure to visit and we had a wonderful meal, getting a special plate made for us "since we were at the Chef's Table". How cool is that??? We got to view the symphony that is a restaurant kitchen on a busy night and experience a delicious meal.
We can't recommend it enough. Give it a try!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMDining experience was great!Dining experience was great! I would add one comment - the polenta did have a thin "skin" on it from sitting too long under the warming lights before being served - other than that - it was perfect!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my second time atThis is my second time at the restaurant and i have enjoyed myself each time. The food and service is good.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food served creativelyThis was our fourth or fifth time at Tallula. We have also been to the Eat Bar next door several times. Tallula is a solid restaurant with very good quality food. I typically get seafood and I have had both the Flounder and the Scallops, both of which were cooked to perfection. The service is always good and the wine list is ample, with plenty of reasonably priced selections. My only knock is that the cheese plate portions have been scaled back, but they are still delicious. We live close by and consider this a local, high-end restaurant that comes through in terms of quality of food and ambiance.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat decor, the food is VERYGreat decor, the food is VERY well done, good variety of drinks in all categories (liq/beer/wine). Service is great, well knowledged on all their food and drink options, but varies a bit in terms of style.
The only drawback I see is, though the food is fantastic, the menu doesn't change often. I'd go more, at least in theory, but I've eaten everything I wanted twice already.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTallula's a GemTallula's all about the food, which is superb. The decor, not so much, but when you're enjoying the food, the service, and the excellent and eclectic wine list, that's not all that relevant. The menu is small, but offers enough diversity so that even the pickiest diner will find something to like. The roasted beet salad was a small gem, with the earthy sweetness of the beets offset by the contrasting microgreens. My pork loin was superb, perfectly cooked to medium/medium-rare and smoky and delicious from the grill. Honestly the best pork dish I can remember having in many years. The wine list is a real star here -- it's broad and deep, with offerings from around the globe and very fairly priced, a rarity in this area.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I arrived earlyMy wife and I arrived early so we had a drink in the "eat-bar" area. The service was great, excellent selection of wines and the 1/2 glass option was fun and allowed us to sample 4 wines vs. just 2. The restaurant for dinner was also great service and food.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service and wineGreat food, service and wine list...we had dinner but had to wait for a late-arriving friend and we were not rushed. Rather our friend was served a great dinner quickly while we had dessert...a great local restaurant.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMmy husband and i went to tallulamy husband and i went to tallula for our first wedding anniversary. everything was lovely- they sent over complimentary glasses of cava, and were very attentive all night long. the food was delicious as well. we had a great time!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTallula's is a hidden gem! This is a neighborhood favorite of ours. I took my wife and children to celebrate her birthday there and we had a great time. This is a stylish restaurant that is not pretentious, with a diverse menu. My wife had the pork loin that was juicy, tasty, and paried with apples and other sides. I had the scallops - tasty. The kids had hot sausages from the bar menu. The after dinner donuts were decadent (very good!!).
What else to say? I highly recommend Tallula's for upscale dining.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy brunchDelicious and interesting brunch options. Great service too.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great spot. The foodWhat a great spot. The food and service were amazing. We had the sirloin and the pork loin and both were delicious and cooked perfectly. The only minor 'negative': while the main room was nicely appointed, it just didn't feel super cozy/romantic. Not sure exactly why. Still, a great place and we'll be heading back again soon.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I were thereMy friend and I were there last 1st of March, Friday night. I ordered for 1. Yukon gold potato soup confit mushroom, chive. 2. Roseda farms sirloion steak, root vegetable agro dolce, merlot mushroom, kale puree, steak sauce. 3. Gianduja panna cotta. Those are very delicious, lovely! I ate all of them, ha!3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMLast time, I was there inLast time, I was there in July 2012. My friend and I went there last 27th of February on Wednesday night. I'm surprised the hostess and waiter still remember me, ha! $35 for 3 course meals. It was delicious, yummy!2/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not greatIt was our first time and might be we ordered not the best dishes, but we left with mixed feelings. Liked the ambiance, service, appetizers and the value of the meal for Restaurant Week prices. All the rest of the food was kind of below our expectations from reading the raving reviews. But we never judge from the first impression, so we might be back when in the area.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWith the "Eat Bar" adjacentWith the "Eat Bar" adjacent to Tallula, it's easy to get there early and have a drink before the meal. We went during restaurant week, and the tasting menu was outstanding and very reasonably priced. The wine list is one of the most extensive and logically prepared I've seen in a long time. Overall, a very good experience--I will go back.2/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
