  • "And so should you. The tacos are tiny, inventive, and delicious. The drinks are grand slam winners. GET THE POLENTA. It's yummy. The only thing that can be improved is the chips. They don't have them. We'd like them."

  • "My husband and I went with somewhat medium to high expectations and our experience far exceeded that. The openers and the tacos were fantastic! We would recommend the restaurant to all, and look forward to our next visit. The service was fun and informative and welcoming as well!"

  • "I eat and cook Mexican dishes often. I enjoy discovering a Mexican or Mexican inspired restaurant that I can't wait to return to and this is one of them. Service is excellent from the moment you walk in the door. The ambiance and decor is welcoming and hip. We went with their classic margaritas and matzo with salsa to start. The drinks were perfect with fresh lime juice. Interesting take on chips and salsa, the matzo cracker was a good change up. We tried the bass ceviche which was excellent. I had the king crab tacos which was a first for me and I thoroughly enjoyed. I tried the chicken mole tacos and they were very flavorful. I can tell they take pride in what they do. I will definitely return for the food, drinks and friendly staff."

  • "Excwllent find. Would have never known about his place except for Glitz City Chicago. The appetizer - Three Sisters Polenta was delicious and the Cucumber Margritaswere refreshing and very good. The tacos - Beef Barbacoa were also very good; at first the looked small but were very filling and very good. Outstanding overall. Thank you."

  • "All of the ingredients were so fresh and flavorful and blended really well together, in the food and drinks. Also, we couldn't have asked for better service, and their décor was very fittingly all their own. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Takito is a cool place to go. The atmosphere is fun and lively and the food is really good not to mention the unique and tasty cocktails! Service was pretty good, our waiter was very gluten free knowledgeable which was nice but he did mess up my order (i hate when they don't write things down!) My only complaint would be they opened a back door while we were there probably because the restaurant got full and possibly warm but it froze out those of us that were sitting by the door. We actually left earlier then planned, wanted to try another tasty cocktail, but we were so cold we decided to leave."

  • "My wife loves Mexican food. Typically of a more authentic variety. I prefer more of the high end Mexican we come across. This hit both of our tongues on the nose, sorry. Food was amazing, Margaritas were as good as we've ever had, and we have had our share. Just great all around."

  • "Found this amazing little place through Open Table. Somehow it stuck out from the crowd. We went as a group of 6, and had the best time, best food and best fun. The menu is creative and fresh in every way. The food was delicious and different. Service was with lots of smiles and great assistance for the eating adventure. Adam, one of the owners was not only present but his interaction made our evening even more fun and charming. THIS PLACE IS A DEFINITE MUST TRY!!!"

  • "Our party of four had a great time at Takito. The Margaritas were excellent and different--loved the cucumber and the caliente. The avocado puree (like guacamole) and tomatillo salsa were great, as were three of the four types of tacos we ordered--especially the lamb chorizo. Wow! We thought the crab tacos were pretty bland, though, and not worth the price. Fun, lively atmosphere, and the service was terrific and friendly. In comparison to Antique Taco, this is much more of a "real" sit-down type of restaurant, and easier to make an evening out of. But for the tacos themselves, I'd give a slight edge to Antique Taco."

  • "Brunch options are non-traditional, which is much appreciated, and the variety of drinks (alcoholic & non) is broad. Everything I had was delicious. Prices are reasonable, too, especially for the drinks. I can't wait to go back."

  • "This place is a great neighborhood find. Everything they do is spot on. The vibe is cool , the drinks are amazing and the food is delish!"

  • "Came here on a cold, snowy evening last week with the husband. Loved the double margaritas that were offered - the cucumber margarita was refreshing. Husband had the caliente margarita which was spicy and packed a punch but overall flavor was great. Masa crackers are NOT gluten free which was disappointing as I try to follow a GF diet and feel as if there must be a GF alternative to the masa crackers. Crispy fish tacos were delicious (love the flavor of coconut custard) as was the polenta. Ordered the dulce de leche desert and was not impressed."

  • "This suburbanite met my two friends at Takito Kitchen since I have dreaming for months about eating those crunchy fish tacos again! The combinations of flavors in every dish we ate are mind blowing. We started with the polenta and my friend was happy and said she could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then we consumed the crunchy fish tacos, lamb chorizo tacos and the jambalaya tacos. The portions are smaller if you have someone who craves steak and can eat a half pounder but I found it perfect. We finished with a chocolate, cherry crumble something that also was awesome. I also like that the food is grown locally when possible and very healthy, I a already thinking about who I can introduce next to this gem of a restaurant."

  • "First,we will be back! The menu was creative and fun. We had the Barbacoa tacos which were exceptional, the king crab which was too shredded and the lamb chorizo which was very good. The margarita was world class and the best we had since we moved from Chicago from Los Cabos in 07'. The only downside was our table was near the host stand and we got blasted by cold air every time soeone cam through the door. However this is a great value at a great price point so do check it out. It is worth it."

  • "Excited to try this place as menu looked great -we were disappointed. Hostess tried to seat us in a back corner table; asked to be moved to a better one in the back. She had to "check and see" although the restaurant was almost empty. Started off good with their version of guac. The barbacoa tacos were great. Didn't like the crab tacos at all. They were kind of fishy (crab is my favorite food) and didn't like the other ingreds. Also ordered 3 of the chicken mole tacos. They were OK - pretty spicy; tasted like BBQ ck. Right when we got our last dish, they seated another couple RIGHT NEXT TO US while the restaurant was still empty. We couldn't believe it; got food to go and left. Complained to mgmt but don't think they cared."

  • "This place is fantastic. My girl and I have been here a few times now and it has quickly become one of our favorites. The last time we brought a group of people... some who were questioning our statement of it being on par or better than Big Star. After the meal, they all agreed. We had a bunch of margaritas, the three salsas, and 5 different tacos each. The favorites were the lamb, the king crab, and crispy fish. The barbacoa wasn't bad either. Everyone thought the pork belly was rated 5th. That said, I highly recommend this gem... just don't get too busy that it's tough to get a reservation!"

  • "I chose this restaurant from Open Table based on the reviews and the menu. The drinks were great! The food was a little odd, needed a little bit more work on the menu to add more variety. We had the fish tacos and chicken bbq tacos, which were very good. The service was excellent and everyone was very hospitable. I would definitely go back."

  • "The food here is great. The service leff a lot to be desired. The waitress forgot or screwed up 75% of what we ordered. She brought us the wrong number of tacos - why would we order 3 when there are 4 of us. And was completely oblivious to the fact that there were 4 of us sitting around the table. She brought us the wrong drinks all THREE times we ordered a round. She was friendly & nice, but after awhile it got old."

  • "We went to Takito for a bachelorette dinner and it was a great choice! They were accommodating to our large group which was so great. The tacos were interesting and tasty and there was something to fit everyone's tastes. Nearly all of the menu is gluten-free which makes it easy if you have dietary restrictions in the group. Great cocktails, especially the Caliente Margarita! Very reasonably priced for a good group and plenty of food!"

  • "In all honesty, I loved the food and drinks (probably one of my favorite drinks in the city here). My only issue was that we had to wait forever for our table when I had made a reservation weeks in advance. Further, the setup of the bar is quite awkward as it is turned to the outside where people are walking past. We had to stand at the tight spaced bar uncomfortably for about 20 minutes until they finally had our table ready. The owner was quite accommodating but the service was still not up to par whilst dining. In their defense, it is fairly new(ish), and it was a Saturday night, but that should not necessarily be an excuse."

  • "If you appreciate food and understand the complex nature of food done well then you will love Takito. If you are expecting typical anything then you will be disappointed. The chef has obviously put detail and quality into every bit of the menu from the salsa right to the cowboy coffee (you have to have that) at the end of your meal. The variety of authentic tacos was completely off the charts good and flavorful. The food here is amazing and the friendly, rustic, and vibrant setting made the whole dinner an experience. It was so good we returned the following Sunday for brunch."

  • "Visited this restaurant for the first time and enjoyed the whole experience. They had helpful, attentive staff that was very knowledgeable of the menu along with smiling and friendly faces. We started with tomatillo, pistachio salsa with masa crackers and the salsa was excellent, not too spicy but very flavorful. The polenta was excellent - warm, creamy, salty goodness. The crispy fish tacos had a unique flavor of coconut creme with a crunchy carrot topping, and the lamb chorizo tacos were topped with the tomatillo pistachio salsa and also very delicious. The cucumber margarita is highly recommended - a very refreshing, not too sweet drink but you definitely have to like the flavor of cucumber to enjoy this."

  • "Takito was really good - first time going there and it was a perfect night to try it; a Wednesday night where it wasn't crazy and we could hear the server clearly and she could hear us! I wasn't blown away by the Masa crackers and salsa (we got the salsa w/ghost peppers, which wasn't as spicy as it sounds but salsa itself tasty). However, the winter squash appetizer was out of this world. For entrees we grabbed three fish & three pork belly tacos. They were both awesome, and as expected, very far apart in taste based on what ingredients are included in each dish. Skipped dessert but had hot tea - they gave us a nice lil' shot of nectar or something to sweeten it, good addition. It was lukewarm tea so my fault for not asking it to be hot"

  • "Farm2table meal came with pumpkin margarita: tasty. I don't eat lots of meat so 2 of the courses being meat was a bit much. Pork belly was good. Lamb was fatty & mine a bit red, but just very little to eat on my bone. Brandied cherries were hard to eat. Not a big liquor fan. We ordered desert, even though it wasn't part of the meal (though maybe it should?). Chocolate mousse was rich & dark, topped with more of those cherries, which we avoided. Friendly waitstaff. Area we were seated was very drafty. Had to wear coats. Manager apologized & offered coffee/drink, so my partner ordered coffee w/ dessert, but we were charged for it. All coupon users were in the cold section. I suppose if you don't pay full price, you do pay in another way."

  • "Start with Mexican cuisine, add unusual flavors based on locally available ingredients, prep to look delicious, and you get Takito Kitchen. Being artisan, flavor profiles will sometimes be delicious and sometimes not, but with an ever changing menu no two trips will be quite the same."

  • "Overall decent experience, but the food was so small. Let me say that again: SO small. I ran a couple of miles before going to Takito and was very much ready for dinner, but was served a snack called a meal. Also, they had rice, but no beans. How can you eat tacos without beans? I must say, however, that the cucumber Margaritas was the best I've ever had. And for that, I'll return, but not for dinner."

  • "This was my first time here. We had reservations for 8:30. We were ahead of schedule, so we arrived and checked in at 8:10. We thought we could sit at the bar while we waited for our table, but they don't have a bar, so we told the hostess we'll get a drink next door and be back by 8:30. When we came back in, the hostess said our table was not ready and will be another 10 minutes. OK, no biggie just yet. But then when it was 9 p.m., and others were being seated and I was still waiting, I checked with the hostess again. This was the third time I spoke with her, and she didn't remember me. She came off as unattentive and rude. We were seated at 9:10, and while the food was good and the serves were very nice, I wouldn't go back. Not worth it."

  • "This was my second time at Takito kitchen. For some reason, I loved it the first time and was not impressed the second time. I had a hard time finding something that appealed to me. Not a huge selection. The best item we ordered was the palenta with bacon bits. That was great. The rice and tomato was ok. I would prefer a place that had selections of entrees other than just small tacos! The vegetarian tacos were simply chunks of sweet potatoes. Not very good!"

  • "loved the decor, enjoyed the food, but the price is a bit steep given the small portion of the tacos. while I don't mind spending on good food, there was not enough bang for the buck.. willl stick with big and littles for tacos."

  • "The food here was good. I like the original dishes. Not your typical Mexican restaurant. The polenta and hearts of palm salad were exceptional. I was vegetarian and had the vegan tacos (not very good) and the Grilled Brunkow cheese tacos (good). Overall, I probably won't be visiting again unless they add more vegetarian options, but was happy to have tried it and would recommend it."

  • "Brunch for 4 - I wouldn't recommend parties larger than 4 for this location. Food was excellent. Service was rated "good" only because the food and cocktails were slow to arrive and the restaurant was not busy at all (maybe 4 tables seated in the entire place at the time). Highly recommend the brunch cocktails and the seasonal drinks. The waitress did a very good job explaining the cocktails - got exactly what we expected. Food: Skip the Spanish Ham and Eggs. Just OK. The sopes (we tried the chicken and the pork belly) were delicious - can't go wrong there."
