  • "The tacos were delicious... The avocado puree was smooth and creamy with great flavors. The pasilla salsa was not spicy but packed a lot of smoky flavors. The only downside was that the fish tacos took longer then expected. My friend had already finished eating by the time my tacos came out. The fish tacos were flaky and delicious on top of the hibuscus tortillas. Very original. My margarita, cucumber flavor was simply so so fresh you have to have one. Overall everything was delicious and original. No typical flavors here!"

  • "For people trying to gather a group of friends, TK is great as it takes reservations and the neighborhood generally has parking available. I had a small birthday dinner here and our waiter was wonderful. Excellent advice from him on all fronts for drink and food choices. I enjoyed the Caliente margarita most, though the cucumber one was also interesting. The polenta with Brunkow cheese was delicious. Highly recommended for a nice evening out amongst friends."

The service was wicked good...Jessie, Donna and Gabriel were all very accommodating, sweet and friendly. We ordered everything Gabriel recommended: Avocado Pine Nut Purée, Maple Creek Pork Belly Tacos, Lamb Chorizo Tacos and the Spring Herb Rice. Everything was perfect! The Avocado Pine Nut Purée was incredibly smooth and yummy; the pork belly tacos were sweet and salty; the lamb chorizo tacos had a bit of delicious heat. The bartender also kicked serious butt...the Siete Reposado and Herradura Reposado margaritas (straight up, of course!) were heavenly. Noteworthy experience!"

We also had the pork carnitas (taco of the day), crispy fish and the lamb chorizo. They were all delicious and a fun and different take on your typical taco. The lamb chorizo might have been my favorite, but it was a close race. We also enjoyed the polenta and one of the salsas. Great food, fun energy and vibe - we'll be back! "

  • "Recently had dinner at Takito on Cinco de Mayo. We had a group of six girls and chose Takito because you could make reservations, unlike many other Chicago taco joints. The three sisters polenta was unexpectedly delicious. The hibiscus tortilla on the crispy fish taco was interesting, but perhaps a bit overly floral. The beef barbacoa tacos were a group favorite, as well as the yucatan style chicken. All three salsas held a good amount of heat, but the avocado pine nut puree (their version of guac) was too much like a puree for my liking. Also--we were not huge fans of the masa crackers over chips! Overall a great night and a fun twist on traditional taco joint. "

  • "I heard about this place from a friend one year ago. I had the "honor" of being their "1st customer" and ever since I have not any problems with their food or service. Their little tacitos (hence the name) are flavorful, their appetizers are meant to be shared, and their cocktails are innovative. I definitely am a fan and am excited to hear that their new location is coming soon."

  • "When we pulled up I have to admit I was rethinking my restaurant choice as from the street it looks like a fast food restaurant. We walked in and I was pleasantly surprised as it was not fast food at all. The atmosphere was festive and cozy. The drinks selections were really good with a nice variety of margaritas. I think we had everything on the shared plate menu. We liked it all but felt the three sisters polenta stood out as a favorite. I had the Maple Creek Pork Belly Taco was absolutely delicious. Others had Alaskan King Crab taco and Crispy Fish Tacos and everyone had good things to say about their entrees. Overall, I loved this restaurant and will be back!!! It was a great experience. "

  • "Drinks are great- ambiance was alright.. it feels a bit like you're in the bar/behind the bar/in the service well when you have such an open area where they are making drinks and prepping food. It was a little awkward. The food was good- but not GREAT. The seasonal salsa was a beet and tomato salsa, but it simply tasted like tomatoes. The tacos were a good portion size. We had four of the king crab between two of us and two larger ones which was a perfect amount of food. The king crab tacos were alright in flavor.. could have used a little kick of spice or sauce to it. The special was a wagyu beef and pickled onions and it was fantastic!!! Would definitely eat those again- they should make this a regular menu item. "

  • "Forget Big Star, Takito is where it's at! I took 4 foodie friends of mine and they were all blown out of the water. Our favorites were definitely the Pork Belly and Lamb Chorizo Tacos. The staff and management team were super helpful and very friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone!"

  • "With all the places in Wicker Park that pack them in for brunch, and all the people milling around the neighborhood, it's hard to imagine why this place is virtually empty for brunch. Maybe because brunch is relatively new there or because there are so many other places already. I was glad to see a place that serves absolutely great food, great drinks and fun service that isn't packed to the gills and overly loud. Every dish we had was superb, and the kitchen was extremely gracious in accommodating dietary restrictions on existing dish offerings instead of just pointing out other dishes on the menu. You can choose from the brunch, or normal dinner menu as well. The sope was great. Also highly recommend the big caliente margarita."

  • "I eat and cook Mexican dishes often. I enjoy discovering a Mexican or Mexican inspired restaurant that I can't wait to return to and this is one of them. Service is excellent from the moment you walk in the door. The ambiance and decor is welcoming and hip. We went with their classic margaritas and matzo with salsa to start. The drinks were perfect with fresh lime juice. Interesting take on chips and salsa, the matzo cracker was a good change up. We tried the bass ceviche which was excellent. I had the king crab tacos which was a first for me and I thoroughly enjoyed. I tried the chicken mole tacos and they were very flavorful. I can tell they take pride in what they do. I will definitely return for the food, drinks and friendly staff."

  • "Takito is a cool place to go. The atmosphere is fun and lively and the food is really good not to mention the unique and tasty cocktails! Service was pretty good, our waiter was very gluten free knowledgeable which was nice but he did mess up my order (i hate when they don't write things down!) My only complaint would be they opened a back door while we were there probably because the restaurant got full and possibly warm but it froze out those of us that were sitting by the door. We actually left earlier then planned, wanted to try another tasty cocktail, but we were so cold we decided to leave."

The menu is creative and fresh in every way. The food was delicious and different. Service was with lots of smiles and great assistance for the eating adventure.   • "Our party of four had a great time at Takito. The Margaritas were excellent and different--loved the cucumber and the caliente. The avocado puree (like guacamole) and tomatillo salsa were great, as were three of the four types of tacos we ordered--especially the lamb chorizo. Wow! We thought the crab tacos were pretty bland, though, and not worth the price. Fun, lively atmosphere, and the service was terrific and friendly. In comparison to Antique Taco, this is much more of a "real" sit-down type of restaurant, and easier to make an evening out of. But for the tacos themselves, I'd give a slight edge to Antique Taco."

  • "This suburbanite met my two friends at Takito Kitchen since I have dreaming for months about eating those crunchy fish tacos again! The combinations of flavors in every dish we ate are mind blowing. We started with the polenta and my friend was happy and said she could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Then we consumed the crunchy fish tacos, lamb chorizo tacos and the jambalaya tacos. The portions are smaller if you have someone who craves steak and can eat a half pounder but I found it perfect. We finished with a chocolate, cherry crumble something that also was awesome. I also like that the food is grown locally when possible and very healthy, I a already thinking about who I can introduce next to this gem of a restaurant."

  • "Came here on a cold, snowy evening last week with the husband. Loved the double margaritas that were offered - the cucumber margarita was refreshing. Husband had the caliente margarita which was spicy and packed a punch but overall flavor was great. Masa crackers are NOT gluten free which was disappointing as I try to follow a GF diet and feel as if there must be a GF alternative to the masa crackers. Crispy fish tacos were delicious (love the flavor of coconut custard) as was the polenta. Ordered the dulce de leche desert and was not impressed."
