  • "Great way to impress... great food, we had sushi items, great drinks and the view... picturesque pricey but worth the splurge!!! "

  • "We love the food and outstanding service from our waiter Sam. Second time we been there and he was our waiter. Very attentive and he remembers what you order."

  • "The only complaint I have for this establishment is the seating. I had a reservation however, waited 20 minutes and before being seated I had to walk up to the host to check on my reservation and she said she texted me. I think that is extremely in-personable. First, I didn't get the text right away, second, I was only 12 feet from her and what happen to person to person contact where you feel welcomed at an establishment. Also, the gal that sat us looked so clueless as to what we were suppose to do with out drinks (which was tea). It took her a minute to realize and mention that she could have a staff member bring us another pot to our table. Other than that the staff was awesome. The waiter Sam was so nice and catering."

  • "This was our second time here and everything we ordered was very good . The servers are great , they treat you like you are the only one there !!!We will go again, worth the drive from Westwood . The view is a plus ."

  • "Awesome food and Spectacular view. Restaurant located at the top floor. Valet parking around back through alley way."

  • "The restaurant was our second stop for the night. We ordered the flight sake, the seared tuna and the sashimi plate. We had dietary restrictions that our server named Gladys followed to a T. So very grateful that Gladys really was attentive to our needs - we didn't want any allergic mishaps to spoil a very lovely evening. Certainly worth going back and trying other things on the menu."

  • "What a great surprise! Right when we walked through the door, the vibe, the decor, and the ambience was definitely what we were looking for. It was minimalist contemporary with splashes of artistic touches/quirks. I love the huge wooden table by the entrance. The food was like "edible art"...presentation was on point and the taste was very satisfying. Everything was very tasteful. The only thing i must say was, I had mentioned to the server that it was my little cousin's bday - which was a direct hint to do something special. But nothing happened. lol. Overall - a hip place to take a date and chill by the bar afterwards. I'd come here again. =)"

  • "Waitress was a bit slow in getting us items, but the food was AMAZING and the view was great!"
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Our stay was very enjoyable. You can choose either you want to sit inside or "outside". Outside means you sit at the window and enjoy a great view over south LA (highly recommended!!). The food was delicious. As we can not enjoy very good asian food in Europe that often, it was a new experience for us and it was worth trying it!"

  • "8 of us met for dinner and drinks at Takami. Sammy and the staff did a beautiful job helping us out!!! We had a fabulous evening! We have visited this place, my gf and I, numerous times before and we always have a wonderful time with great service and food. Highly recommend."

  • "Server was very rude. They mistakenly gave our table the wrong food. We didn't notice until the next table started complaining. The server never notified us about the mistake. We weren't change for it which was a good thing but she was rude after that. She never said thank you when she picked up the check or thanked us for dinning at Takami as a mater of fact she seemed mad and wanted us out for a mistake she did."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "Not much to say. The view from the 21st floor was amazing. The food was ok. It wasn't mind blowing nor was it bad."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Hi, I hosted clients here at 530-730, apps (variety of sushi) and drinks (inventive, interesting, well made)"

  • "I always seem to leave Takami wanting - the menu has the makings of an excellent dining experience yet the meals when delivered were a little lacking. The Takami tartare has seafood extender in it - what's the point - the sashimi and raw fish experience shouldn't be dulled by crab cocktail that has mayo in it - but should be fresh and tasty and moist. The service is always good and I like Takami but wish the food was a little better"

  • "Been to Takami now 4 times in 2 months Great food, service and view. Everyone in our party was impressed with the restaurant and what a great dining experience it was."

  • "So the food is GREAT!!! And the service NOT SO GREAT!!! Hostesses were very rude. We had a reservation at 7 and we arrived 5 minutes early and still waited more than 30 mins to get a table. When we did get a table, it wasnt the best one, there were better ones available. We asked to move, and were told no, my husband had to insist for a long time and then when he gave up, they came to our table and asked us if we wanted to move. An awful start to the evening. Food was slow to come the entire night and the servers kept apologizing, so much they got us free drinks. Only because the food is really good and it is a nice place with a great view that we will go back."

  • "I LOVE looking over los Angeles city lights while enjoying dinner. The food was great but the wait for food was kinda off. My boyfriend got his food first so by the time my food came he had finished eating:/"

  • "Although ambiance was on point, the food and drink portions were not were the prices."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Spectacular view if you sit outside, it makes Los Angeles look like an exotic metropolis. Excellent friendly helpful service. There is traditional Japanese food on the menu, but the major focus of the menu is better described as Asian fusion with Japanese influence. Not all of it works (of course), but much of it is quite good. The noise level is painful, even if you sit outside. This is due to an overamped music system. Conversation is very difficult unless you yell."

  • "Takami is on the 21st floor of the building which means you get a great view along with tasty food and drinks. The happy hour is pretty good deal. I'll definitely go back!"

  • "A former colleague was in town so we decided to try Takami. Great choice. The ambience is wonderful. The food tremendous. We spent three hours catching up. Highly recommend the spot!"
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "The dining area featured open windows, so we could view the city from the 21st floor where the restaurant sits. There are heating lamps, but the person in are party that sat closest to them was hot by the end of the meal. The sushi rolls were good, but be prepared to order a few if you guys are hungry. Two people in our group ordered the filet mignon and said it was good. It is a good place to go to celebrate, we were there for a birthday dinner as were others as well."
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "I thought the food was too expensive for the taste. The taste was just average. You're pretty much paying for the scenery. I would go here again if I was invited to go (hence not paying). But I wouldn't pick and pay for this food again. The waitress was very nice but she hardly came around. The food came out pretty quick but it took forever to get just even our waters."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "Service was great my man with the stache killed it the entire time. The view was awesome really gives you a great look at downtown. The food on the other hand was hit and miss. The spicy tuna crispy rice was awesome along with the tartare but the kebob things were ridiculously salty and we had one of each. Overall though it was a great experience minus the salt"

  • "I was looking for a nice place to go on a first date, and "Takami Sushi & Robata" was the perfect choice. I asked for a table with a beautiful view, and they accommodated wonderfully. We sat against the edge of the building with a view of the Downtown high rises...PERFECT!!! Food was amazing, service was excellent, and the ambiance was great. Highly recommend this place. My date & I had a wonderful time, and we will surely be back."

  • "One person at our table had no food for close to 5 minutes while the other two had everything served. It made for an awkward and frustrating lunch experience. All he was waiting in was teriyaki chicken, rice and a bowl of Miso Soup (which our waitress forgot). This restaurant used to be high on my list, but not any more. Also, the rolls at lunch, were only so-so. Not amazing in any way."

  • "I took my wife for a night away from the kids. The food was excellent, drinks well made, and the atmosphere was great. We dined with excellent views of downtown LA."

  • "My friends and I went to a matinee of Book of Mormon. We had made a reservation for five o'clock when they opened as the play got out around 3:30. We meandered around as long as we could and decided to go up even though it was still a little before five. The young woman who "greeted" us could not have been more unfriendly. If I were the manager there I would not have such a cold fish be the first person to come in contact with the patrons. It was very unsettling. I have been to this place before and wanted to show it off to my friends. I knew if we could have one of the fabulous cocktails and start our evening all would be right with the world because everything else about this restaurant is wonderful."

  • "I normally don't write bad reviews, but our experience at Takami was one of the worst ever. Hosts were snobbish, service was forgetting most of our orders, never checking on us, we had a check that was wrong...and the food was not special at all, but decent. If you can avoid this place you make the right move."

  • "I had a great time at Takami last week. We got a spot outside near the window so we could see the view but close to a heater so we wouldn't be cold. Our waiter was great and described everything on the menu to us and gave us great suggestions. He even recommended changing one of the rolls a bit to how he liked and we took his advice and it was great. He also let us try this special sesame oil he talked to us about. The only weird thing that happened was that they accidentally charged my card for the wrong table but they quickly fixed it. I would definitely recommend this place to all sushi lovers. The food was amazing!"

  • "The view is amazing the food was great and there is a club directly across the hall if you're in the mood to party afterwards!"

  • "I recently went on a first date this Thursday (Feb. 27, 2014) and I was very impressed with the restaurant. Valet Parking is right next to the building in a little alley. Valet was only $7 dollars!!! In dtla that is a GREAT price. Made reservation at 8pm and being the girl that I am I arrived 10 minutes night. The hostess gave me no problem that I was late and was seated right away. My date and I sat outside in the "patio area". The view is spectacular, you're literally in the middle of all the city lights. Noise level was moderate I didn't have to lean over to hear what my date was saying. The food was okay, I ordered the dragon roll which was good nothing to woohoo about. This place has average food its all good, but its not great."

  • "I went to this restaurant for my 30th birthday and I loved it. My guess we're able to fit in the front happy your area and enjoyed the cocktails and wine also the 21st roll is breathtaking"

  • "I went solo so I sat at the sushi bar. I have to say, I have never had my food so quickly. I was eating within 10 minutes of sitting down. The sushi was amazing as was the cucumber salad. The restaurant is on the 21st floor so the views of the city are great. Highly recommended!"

  • "Great food with quick service. I also noted on my reservation that it was my boyfriends bday and completely forgot that i did that, but at the end of our meal, they brought out a dessert with a candle in it, which I thought was very special and wonderful. Filet and Japanese tacos are delicious, although the portions are small. 21st roll is delicious, and all their rolls are pretty big. I made reservations for 630pm on a tuesday, and I wish I had made them at least an hour later, because we got the happy hour/after work crowd and it did not feel romantic at all. Still a great place and we will definitely be back."

  • "I love the ambiance and the great view from the 21st floor. The chilean sea bass was exquisite and melted in my mouth with each bite. It is an excellent place for a romantic dinner or to catch up with friends."

  • "This feels more like a bar or club then a restaurant. Beautiful space. Looks like a date place. Great for happy hour or after work. Lots of after work drinking and light dining inside and outside. The inside area of the restaurant especially by the bar is extremely loud and festive. One party from out of town at the bar kinda made it almost unbearable to be inside. Outside is much more quiet even though you are in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles. The sushi is Outstanding!!! Service is lacking. Not very attentive. Not very knowledgeable. Would go back again with lots of friends, but not for a romantic time."

  • "Takami only lost one star because my party had to wait about 40 minutes for our table to get ready. I also noted in the reservation that it was my wifes birthday and 2 other tables were greeted and offer ice cream. Other than that. Food service atmosphere was awesome."
    Dined on 2/22/2014
  • "So many delicious things on the menu. My favorites are the sea bass robata, the lemon albacore roll and spicy tuna on crispy rice, but it's all great."
