"Taix has the look and feel of a very old-fashioned yet very well maintained classic French restaurant. My only real disappointment was that the menu was in English only and not also in French. We had a knowledgeable and friendly server and every course was excellent."

"Have now been there 3 times- once for Thanksgiving, once for lunch and then for dinner. They were all wonderful, the food is very high quality. Tasted very good and the staff treats you very well (if you speak French then your even treated like family). Dinner is my favorite time to go there, thankfully no nutrition facts are on the menu because their food can be very rich and I really don't want to know when I go there for a special occasion."

"The food was only mediocre. The creme brulee was not hot on the top. It would have been better to cook it 75%, then retorch it before serving it. The shrimp was OK, but nothing special. The rataouille was OK. The duck had little flavor and was mediocre at best. The size of the escargot was smaller than normal. The thing that stood out was the ambiance, but it was so dark that some of the patrons had to take out a flashlight to properly see the menu."

"Taix is an LA classic. We arrived early after a concert at WD Concert Hall, but were graciously treated. The potato leek soup was excellent with a savory flavor. The pull-apart rolls were warm and seemed to have a mild sour dough flavor. The relish tray was a nice touch. The seafood pasta was excellent with a good variety of mussels, clams, shrimp, and salmon. The beet salad was OK, but not as appealing as others we have had. As senior citizens, we appreciated being to split the salad and entree.
The couple who was with us enjoyed their trout and duck, as well as their accompanying salads.
We were too full for dessert, but the selections looked great.
Our long-time waiter made a connection with us. We would definitely return!"

"This is one of the lasting old fashioned LA dinner houses. Reminiscent of Nickodel's. I've never had a bad meal here. I had one of the best burgers and fries here than I've ever had. I had the roasted chicken last visit which was exceptionally good. The Martinis are generously poured. The dining room is regal with comfortable, roomy booths. Waiters are charming, attentive and experienced Noise level (a biggy for me) is good. I can hear my friends talk. The bar is comfortable. Not a yuppie, hip, snobbish younger crowd. Lot's of regulars and down to earth Angelenos. Good entertainment, too. Overall, dependable, affordable and highly recommendable!"
