A word from Taikun at The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman
Taikun fuses the finest grade of sushi with authentic ingredients, sophisticated presentation and legendary Ritz-Carlton service. From traditional makis to the freshest sashimi to savory tempura rolls, Taikun delivers an experience worthy of its name, an ancient Japanese term of respect from which the English ‘tycoon’ was derived. One of the hallmarks of the Taikun experience is real wasabi grated tableside. The Taikun staff grates the rhizome against sharkskin in the traditional Asian fashion, ensuring the delicate wasabi root touches only organic materials.

Diner Reviews
  • "Incredibly fresh and excellent sushi. The staff is also extremely friendly and great with children. Would highly recommend anyone visiting the Caymans to dine here. A truly great experience and strongly recommended."

  • "Fantastic dining experience, unique rolls and very fresh sashimi. Also loved all of the unique desert options. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to track down a server for drink refreshment but this only rarely occurred and is admittedly a bit nitpicky on my part. The ambiance is great, very open with a trendy flair to it. The only real negative for me were the chairs that had a very large base, making them slightly uncomfortable to sit in. You either had to lean all the way back or sit straight up with no back support. Aside from that, love the restaurant and would highly recommend it to others"

  • "The food and service are Ritz Carlton level. The fish is unbelievable and the variety of the rolls is phenomenal. The sake list is extensive and priced for every level. The wasabi is flown in and grounded fresh. It really is a must attend restaurant. "

  • "We went there twice during our visit to the Ritz Grand Cayman. I loved the options of saki and sushi. We tried many new items and most all of them were great. The dessert and coffee along with the service was very good. I highly recommend eating here on the beautiful island of Grand Cayman."

  • "its not your normal sushi place, The do so many extra things to make everything good for you, Free miso soup, seaweed salad and fresh ginger with sushi. If you like wasabi then you will love there. they shave it fresh from the brick, blue crab instead of crab stick. The service is amazing, would highly recommend"

  • "Overall I only gave it a "good" because the price was exorbitant."

  • "I booked Taikun for a special New Year's eve dinner. We were not staying at the hotel, so I made the reservation several weeks ahead of time to ensure we got a table. When we arrived at the restaurant at 6.30 pm, it was nearly entirely empty. We were shown our table, which was part of a larger 'party table' next to the front door. I asked to be moved but was told that this was the only available one. I was clearly disappointed, so eventually they offered to move us to the other end of the party table. Finally they offered us a separate table, but was told that we needed to be done by 8pm. Our meal felt rushed, eg. my husband was still eating his soup when the plates were removed & appetizers arrived. We were done in about an hour. Shame."

  • "You should definitely try this out on a Wednesday night! We had the 5 course tasting menu ($50 on Wed when normally $65) and it was fantastic. Great service, fantastic food. Will definitely come back."

  • "Food was pretty good but uneven. For the price, and given the setting, it should have been better. We are unlikely to return."

  • "While vacationing we made reservations as we were staying at the hotel. Honestly we were a bit skeptical since we've had many hit or miss experience with sushi restaurants. This was a very pleasant experience! A refreshing take on sushi with great little twists that left us asking ourselves how things were made and what made them so deliciously different. Highly recommended if you are on the island or visit."
