TaboonIt is truly a neighborhoodIt is truly a neighborhood gem. Great food and nice atmosphere. Somewhat overpriced for the menu options, even for Midtown Manhattan though.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic MenuGreat neighborhood gem! Food was spectacular. We enjoyed so many of the mezze options that we only shared one entree.
The ocutopus and ceviche mezze were outstanding.
Service was friendly and great.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEager to returnFirst time at this restaurant. Had read reviews on Open Table. Pleasant, casual environment. Very good service. Very accommodating to our special requests/modifications. Had requested a window table which we got. Went on Sunday night during Memorial Day weekend so not very crowded. Had a chicken dish with Moroccan spices and partner had fish. We both really enjoyed the food. This was one of the most delicious chicken dishes I have eaten. Other things on the menu looked good and our salads were very tasty and generous. Bread was yummy. All in all a very nice experience.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat date spotI was visiting from SF and a friend of mine who I highly trust as a foodie recommended this spot to me and I was not disappointed. I took a date and the ambience was very romantic. Each table gets a complimentary serving of their amazing house-made focaccia. We ordered the spicy dip along with it and it had just the right amount of kick to get the endorphines going. Then we split the scallops for our first course and the lamb duo for the second course. There were only 2 scallops for the first course but they were big ones. I feel like they could have served 3 or 4 for the price but the flavors were still amazing. Ended the night with the date sponge cake--yum. Great experience and I certainly recommend it.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Dining ExperienceTaboon offers a great Mediterranean menu with a wide variety of dishes (chicken, meats, seafood, veggie). The setting is also really nice - pretty open by NY standards, good decor, etc. Wait staff was very nice, and offered good recommendations. There was one mix-up with a special request I made, but mistakes happen.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMTotal BlissEverything about this place was excellent. Wonderfully creative combinations of flavors and textures. Server was efficient without
hovering. Read eye signals well!! The interior was great with the whitewashed furniture and white brick.
Will recommend this restaurant highly!!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellentGreat breads, great food, pretty restaurant, waiter was attentive, courteous and professional. Only wrinkle is that the tables are very close together so you are on top of each other. Not uncommon in NYC restaurants so not a real problem. Great meal and great experience.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFestive Mothers Day brunchBetween 3 kinds Shakshuka and design your own Eggs Taboon on fresh baked delicious focaccia bread, the menu offers something incredibly delicious for everyone. For my Eggs Taboon I chose roasted zucchini, fresh shaved parmesan, and roasted tomatoes with my 2 eggs over easy on just out of the oven focaccia.. wow… and everyone at my table had the same reaction… the fresh brewed tea and molten lava cake with Turkish coffee ice cream rounded out an excellent brunch in a bright light filled space with friendly and attentive wait staff… …we can’t wait to go back again5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, well served. We loved the food at Taboon. From the bread they bring to the table to the calamari appetizer to our entrees and the most delicious dessert, knaffe. We loved every bite. The wine list by the glass was also very good for pairing with our different entrée choices. Everything was very well presented and well served too.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM10 th Avenues BestGreat food near theater district. Fresh, full flavored food from the Middle East. Mezzes are varied and satisfying...enough for a full meal.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is very good. ServiceFood is very good. Service last night was not as good as in the past. Also we were seated right by an open door which was chilly,
and there were servers going in and out. We requested another table. Alas, there was none.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe attention to detail inThe attention to detail in the flavors of the food is wonderful. The striped bass (Heraime) is in such a flavorful sauce, I savored every morsel. The Kube was delicious as was the mussels appetizers. The service was attentive with great recommendations from the waiter. The only negative is that it gets noisy when it is full and it is always full. Still we were able to hold a conversation.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMYou're going to spend moneyYou're going to spend money here but it completely worth it!! The food is amazing. Wonderful atmosphere and great service. Everyone I've taken here has gone back. They have entrees but I prefer to share an assortment of tapas dishes. The breads, freshly made, and spreads are a tasty beginning. A selection of small plates make a wonderful meal.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTaboon was a last minute choiceTaboon was a last minute choice mostly because it was very close to the Irish Arts Center and the menu looked as if it had possibilities. I stuck with Meze offerings and was more than pleased. The scallops with quail eggs and lemon grass infused butter were perfectly prepared, as was the baby octopus on a bed of apples. cabbage, cucumbers, tomato. The zucchini cake was also very good. The quality of the seafood was most notable (wish I knew their source). I would definitely return to graze some more on the "Meze" side of the menu4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great meal at Taboon.Another great meal at Taboon. I discovered the weekday happy hour from 5-6 pm -- great reason to begin the evening with an apéritif. The food is excellent. I've been back twice since and each time the food, service and ambience have been perfect. I'm a foodie and this has become one of my top three favorite restaurants in NYC. It's great spot for dates... charming, warm and sophisticated. I love that this restaurant always sits me at my exact reservation time, despite being a busy and popular place.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAn eclectic mix of variousAn eclectic mix of various middle eastern flavors done well; Just familiar to be comfortable but different to be interesting. .3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Middle-Eastern foodGreat Middle-Eastern food Slightly out of the theater district but a pleasant walk.
