    Parking is available at several nearby parking garages including, Premium Parking at 616 Toulouse Street and 535 Chartres Street, Central Parking at 528 Chartres Street, or French Market Parking Lot- located along the River behind French Market retail shops on Decatur Street.

Located in the heart of the French Quarter, on the corner of Jackson Square, Tableau is Dickie Brennan's latest production and features lauded Louisiana Creole dishes prepared by talented chef, Ben Thibodeaux and his equally talented culinary team. Look for traditional Creole dishes with an updated approach. A star of the menu is the ten or more traditional French sauces made daily by the expert house saucier.   • "We ordered from the pre-dinner menu. Our salads were delivered and drinks were served. A half hour after we finished our salads, the plates had not been removed and we had not been offered a second drink. Ten minutes later, we had to leave for the play. I located the waitress and asked her to bring the bill because we had to leave to get to the play. She said okay then rushed back with our lukewarm entrees, then dropped the desserts on the table. With less than ten minutes to complete our meal, we left most of the entrees and all of the desert on the table. (Ironically, this was the desert that the waitress insisted we pick so that we could get finished in plenty of time for the show.) The show was quite wonderful."

  • "Tableau is an amazing restaurant anytime - wonderful food, ambiance, & service. Before a show at the La Petit Theater, there is absolutely no other restaurant to consider. There is a pre-theater menu, but we opted to go with the traditional menu. Escargots and shrimp remoulade appetizers were good. The real treat - dinner was the best we had in our 4 nights in NOLA. The baked chicken was divine - no idea how they kept it so moist. Steak fritte filet was equally impressive. Perfectly grilled outside and tender inside. I would suggest the chef not serve this over fries, as they turned to mush with the sauce, but it was still great. And you can take your drinks with you to the show. Ask for Jewel. She was the best!"

  • "We went here before seeing a show at the theatre next door. The drinks were very good and so was the food. It was very old school New Orleans. We were surprised at how many kids were eating in such a fancy place-our kids were home with a babysitter. One drawback is that the restroom lines were super long during show intermission because the theatre doesn't have it's own restroom downstairs, so they use the restaurant. The service was great and they even put our leftovers in the fridge until after the show."

  • "A friend of mine from New Orleans recommended this place for a nice romantic dinner. The restaurant itself was beautiful and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The only issue I had was with the noise level. We moved tables because we were seated next to a table that was very loud. It's the perfect setting for a romantic dinner but it's a little loud, probably due to the acoustics of being such an old building. Overall, it was great dinner and I would go back again. My girlfriend said it was the best gumbo she's ever had!"

The menu choices are excellent in variety and portion sizes. the wine list is excellent. The ambiance is great. The service staff did an excellent job. This will be a must on all future trips."

We find ourselves using them as one of our go-to spots for hosting out-of-towners and have never been disappointed. Note: If you don't have a reservation, the young ladies at the hostess stand can be a bit flaky, but they get you to a table...eventually."

  • "My wife and I went here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We figured Dickie Brennan's wouldn't disappoint. Buuuutttt, as we walked in to enjoy a high end dinner, we were greeted at the front door by other guests in shorts and ball caps. Not exactly my idea of high end dinning. Bad taste in my mouth, instantly. Food was good, not worth the price though, in my opinion. Service was outstanding! They made sure to note that it was our anniversary and thanked us for sharing this special event with them. Atmosphere was was a little bright, a little loud, but still enjoyable. I wouldn't deter anyone from going here. But, it's not at the top of my list to visit again. Nothing really to write home about but everyone has an "off" night."

Tableau had great reviews and as a part of the Brennan's group, I expected a polished dining experience. It was ok. Our waiter was new in his position, but quite sweet. His major failing was forgetting to bring one of the coffees we ordered after our meal. The food was hit or miss. A couple of our dishes were outstanding - what we expected. A couple were quite salty, and one was cooler than it should have been. It is a beautiful restaurant in a lovely location, but I think there are other dining establishments nearby where you can get a better meal for the same cost."

  • "Menu lists Creole Court bouillon. It’s a poor Cajun version with undercooked roux that tasted of flower. Duh! Creole is synonymous with tomato! Not a single piece in this dish. Second dish – seasoned batter, sautéed red fish with praline liquor. It came as a nicely cooked fish but with treatment totally indistinguishable from praline liquor and with blackened (burnt) pecan halves strewn about the plate. It does not work! We suffered through these for fear any menu replacement might be worse. And what impression left on tourists? Obvious nobody cares! Paying those prices you expect excellence in every menu item but won’t get it here. Shocker - it’s a D. Brennan restaurant. None in our circle will try it, we’ll see to that."

  • "I've been visiting the French quarter for over 15 years. I've always walked past Tablaeu and wondered. It send too pretentious and spendy. Neither could be gather from the truth. Albeit, the dress code is "smart business" this is NOLA in June. Needless to say, we wore smart men's shorts and my business lather wore a cpvery casual summer dress. We were more than welcomed. As for the cost, most dining ides have them 3 or 4 $ - which typically tanslates to EXPEN$IVE. again, not true. We had an outstanding meal, with above notch service. Thank you and we look forward to our return."

  • "I was very happy to experience the much talked about Tableau! Of course the atmosphere was superb, as I had been told by others. Our cocktails were delicious and refreshing! From our appetizers to our desserts, the good was simply amazing. I must admit that my redfish almondine was the bet I have had in a very long time. We had the Pecan Pie Vol-Au-Vent for dessert which was fabulous and worth every calorie! All at a very reasonable price for a wonderful meal. I highly recommend this dining experience to you!"

  • "This renovation of a historic building in the French Quarter is beautifully done. You can't beat the location, right next to the Cabildo & St. Loius Cathedral. Don't miss sitting out on the second floor balcony with its gorgeous view of Jackson Square. The food was great. We got the Demi appetizer plate, fresh fish of the day with an accompaniment of crabmeat & artichoke hearts, and a tart with a vanilla custard filling and caramel sauce that was to die for. The service staff were excellent, friendly and helpful without being in your face constantly. Special kudos to the Maître D, a middle aged man who was very helpful to 2 women tourists sitting next to us. He gave them excellent tips about where to go and how to do things in New Orleans."

  • "I arrived early for my reservation. Since I had to wait for the rest of my party, I decided to sit at the bar and have a drink. I found one of the two bar tenders very interesting and very knowledgeable. I was then escorted to a table with a full view of the open kitchen. We started with the Grand Royale seafood appetizer. Fantastic crabmeat ravigote, shrimp remoulade, truffled crab fingers and oysters en brochette. Just enough for the 3 of us. I had the waitress choose my meal and was pleased to receive a fantastic version of shrimp and grits. Along the way we enjoyed very well made cocktails and fantastic, very attentive and friendly service."

  • "A friend and I had been to Tableau last time we were in New Orleans for a cocktail. We loved the view so much that I made a dinner reservation this trip. The hostess told us that a table on the balcony would have to open up, so we waited at the bar. It took forever to get a drink. The tab took just as long. Once we paid it, we were seated on a balcony which turned out to be completely empty. Although we had 4 different servers ask us if we wanted anything, it took 15 minutes to order cocktails, and another 10 for them to arrive. Another lengthy wait for ordering/receiving appetizers later, we gave up and left to go find dinner elsewhere. Neither the bar or the restaurant were busy, so the lack of service is puzzling. App's were mediocre."

  • "Beside the confusion the restarant had with our Opentable reservation when we arrived, we enjoyed our time at Tableau on Sunday. We were seated in the dining room near the jazz trio, where we enjoyed the music and a Bloody Mary, with all the groceries, while waiting for a friend to arrive. Our server Regg was friendly. The meal and service were good. I really enjoyed the turtle soup; everyone enjoyed the appetizers and entrees. After we completed our meal, we sat around for awhile to visit; we didn’t feel rushed at any time. Regg assured us that we were OK to relax and visit."

The food was very good & the portion size was perfect! I expected the prices to be pretty high but they were very comparable to the portion size & quality of food!
