  • "My parents were in town for the first time and it was my partner's birthday, so we decided to check out Tableau. Really good food, nice variety of choice without being overwhelmed. Our waiter was exceptionally helpful (suggested the mushrooms on toast appetizer) and chatty. Only downside was poor resonances added to a very noisy group across the room made it almost impossible to talk until they left the restaurant. Once they were gone everything was perfect."

  • "We've tried Tableau on two occasions in the last 6 weeks. Both of our visits I've ordered the Steak and Frites, and I have an expectation that a french bistro would cook the steak to my preference. The first visit, I had my steak returned as it was over cooked. Which meant I didn't eat the same time as the other three people I was dining with. The second time, my steak was over cooked and ate it anyway. The waiter offered to bring another but we had all finished our dinner. The room and the noise level is fine, I enjoyed it. However, I was disappointed with the meal and likely not returning."

  • "We had not even heard of this restaurant but choose it because it was close to the hotel of our guests. We were a party of 4 and everyone throughly enjoyed their meal. Our waiter made excellent recommendations and was very attentive without being pushy. The mushroom toasts were delicious- great to share for 2. I had the eggplant ravioli- it was delicious, the halibut and lamb specials were ordered by the others - they raved. Dessert was delicious and everything was reasonably priced. Excellent experience, highly recommend it and I will go back."

  • "I typically order the Salad Nicoise, which I love. However, the last two times I've ordered it, the presentation has been "sloppy." The albacore tuna used to be neatly placed in a row across the lettuce with the potatoes, eggs and olives artfully arranged around the plate. This just looked like the chef was in a hurry, which was odd because we dined after 1:00 and the lunch rush was largely over."

  • "Every single time I have come to Tableau I have a memorable experience. First you don't have to think if something on the menu not well prepared because it always is spectacular. Second you don't have to think about having had good service or poor, because its always excellent. Third, when you arrive you don't have to worry about not being recognized or important, because at Tableau you are made to feel like you've just arrived at a friends place and made to feel special each and every time. I love this restaurant for some simple reasons. Having travelled enough and eaten at some of the finest restaurants that I am accustomed to better service and food. Tableau, in my opinion stands up to the best of the best. Excellent work."

  • "I have come for lunch before and enjoyed everything, so I thought that this would be a great place for a fabulous birthday brunch. I was sadly dissapointed. I made the reservation a few weeks prior, and mentioned 2 birthdays and specific allergies that need to be addressed. Upon arrival, I asked for the options available given my allergies, knowing it can be tricky. I had not received a message stating that this would be an issue, more than 1 option was expected. In the end an exceptable meal was produced, but this situation was not handled very well nor had birthdays been acknowledged. The service overall was very lacking as our table was constantly out of water and our waiter seemed to have more important people to attend to."

  • "Our third time at Tableau. We live in Coal Harbour. Our server was not interested in our group (4) and gave the impression she would rather be somewhere else. She spent more time chatting up the gentleman in the sport jacket than looking after her customers. What does the guy do? He never came near a table and seemed there to entertain the staff and only moved to act as an overdressed food runner. The food was great but poor service can put a damper on any evening. We left a modest tip so the other staff wouldn't suffer because of our server. Our bill was something over $300.00."

  • "We recently had a wonderful dinner at Tableau Bar Bistro. For starters, we ordered the flatbread with ham and spinach, and the lobster salad. Both were delicious, except the portion of the flatbread was rather large and filled us up quickly. We opted to go with the special entrees: lightly roasted sable fish on a bed of barley risotto for my wife, and tagliatelle pasta with beef and sausage ragout for myself. We were not disappointed as both entrees were executed to perfection - the fish was cooked just right, and the sauce on the tagliatelle was light and not overbearing at all. The dining room was pleasant and modern, and the service was prompt, polite and un-intrusive. We will definitely come back to try other dishes."

  • "Dinner was good, but didn't knock my socks off. I enjoy the mushroom and leek pasta, but I found it didn't have as much flavour as the last time I had it. I really miss the gnocchi they had on their old menu, which I hope they will bring back the next time they change the menu. It was one of my favourite dishes (if not my absolute favourite) I have ever had in a restaurant. We had the chocolate mousse for dessert, which was good, but I do wish they had a little more selection on their dessert menu."

  • "Love this restaurant. We've only been a few times (don't live in Vancouver any more but visit frequently) and it's always been a wonderful experience. Takes us back to many happy times in Paris - a favourite city. The whole environment is welcoming, very French in terms of decor, excellent menu, delicious food, yummy cocktails and excellent wine list.The service is friendly and attentive while not overbearing in any way. Food comes out of the kitchen in a perfectly timed manner. We feel very much at home and most definitely indulge in wine with lunch (and of course with dinner), ignoring the typical current attitude towards sharing a glass with a lovely meal in the middle of the day! Pas de probleme as they say in Paris! Highly recommended."

  • "The restaurant had just the right amount of ambient jibe.Very busy but not feeling crowded.The mix of people was quite diverse and fun.We knew we were in for a memorable evening.The service was very good;our waiter was very knowledgeable about the cocktails.To experience something outside of our normal comfort zone, he recommended a "Mississippi Twist" made with Bourbon and Amaro.We paired it with a lobster salad and a rabbit tarrine.Our mains - a broad noodle mushroom pasta and a roasted duck breast with orecchiette pasta.Plate presentation was beautiful and the flavours were fantastic.We finished our evening with a creame caramel and a chocolate souffle.Our special evening out was a pleasure and we definitely will be returning.Cheers."

  • "We ordered the french onion soup, rabbit terrine, duck breast, short ribs, creme brulee, and souffle glace, plus 2 cocktails and 2 beer. The experimental cocktail was really tasty, very fresh and a touch sweet. Duck was cooked perfectly. The short ribs were unbelievably tender - barely touch them with a fork and they come right off the bone. The souffle glace was the highlight for me - sweet, tart, with a bit of a crunchy base and tuille - it was a perfect dessert."

  • "Sitting in the front section with all hard surfaces ... it took one large party of 6 to make enough noise to drown out our conversation! The server had a very strong accent that had us making him repeat himself over. Also gave up on trying to make any requests as on two separate requests he didn't seem to either understand when we thought he did or was a bit abrupt in his response! Not a big deal as it may have been a cultural thing. Our meals were superb!"

  • "Assigned a table for two that was so close to the next table that the loud talk coming from the next table overpowered our conversation. We ate in silence and left early. The occupants at the next table were quite oblivious to our presence and made no attempt to moderate their conversation. All this distasteful behaviour would have been OK if their table had been a decent distance from ours but it was less than 50 cm away. The tables are so close together that you can't help but overhear other conversations and notice other diners bad table manners."
