  • "Our appetizers, fried oysters + truffled crab legs were good. However the fish special was lackluster. Service was incredibly disorganized. The locale is much better than the food."

  • "We brought our good friends for brunch this past weekend (French Quarter Fest Weekend) and everything was perfect as usual. Corderro (our waiter) took care of us like he usually does and our friends were thoroughly impressed with everything. We say on the balcony overlooking Jackson square and were able to watch it come alive as vendors prepared for the last day of French Quarter Fest. The appetizers were delicious. I couldn't get enough of the marinated crab claws! Our entrees were presented with just the right amount of flair. Everything was prepared as ordered and tasted delicious. We had a few different cocktails and each one hit the spot and got the day started off well. We were "talked in" to dessert which was also perfect."

  • "When we arrived we were immediately seated and a member of the wait staff took our drink order. A while later the waiter came by and we ordered an appetizer. The appetizer shows up, but we still had not gotten our wine. The wine finally came and we completed our order. The food was good, but was not any better than any other restaurant in New Orleans. I could not recommend it."

  • "Very noisy even late. Service staff needs upgrading. Had to ask for bread and desert cutlery. Ordered wine with entree. We had to ask for the wine after we ate about a third of our entrees. Not impressed at all by the service level. Food was just average. Desert and the french onion soup were the best parts of the meal. There are a lot better restaurants for the money in New Orleans. Was very disappointed."

  • "This was our 2nd trip and probably our last to Tableau. My wife and I took 4 friends their during French Quarter Fest. It took forever to get a bottle of wine and it was not even chilled. The food was good but one person got a small steak and it was over cooked. Waiter was not real attentive and there were several tables open. The real problem came at the end when the waiter attempted to use an ipad to check us out. He didn't bring us the detail of the charges and tried to split it three ways on the ipad. He basically operated it for you and checked off 20% and could not answer questions as to whether the tip was included or not. We finally asked him to bring us paper so we could see the detail. Our friends were not impressed."

  • "Was very excited to try it out. Had been to plays here in 80-90's. The restaurant itself has a nice feel but from the very beginning service was very slow. Took forever for waiter to return to get our order. The shrimp and grits were pretty good but the crabmeat ravigote and asparagus/seafood salad were just OK."

  • "Lovely setting with views to the French Quarter coupled with absolutely fabulous food and a great wine list."

  • "We visited for Sunday brunch. Food was terrific, drinks to our liking and live music made for a very pleasant experience. Service was great."

  • "We came here on our first night, and had such a good experience on all levels, we decided to end our 6-day trip with dinner at Tableau. We both got the fish special with the different and outstanding preparations (almondine, meuniere, etc.) and had the jumbo lump crab / artichoke topping, which was delicious. The staff graciously allowed us to split a salad and a vegetable side, and this along with some of the very nice wines and cocktails made for a great meal. Highly recommend, to locals and to tourists to the French Quarter alike."

  • "A bit disappointed.. Menu Ala Carte which is no big deal.. I ordered a martini and glass it came in was the type used in the old days for champagne. Salad was tiny and served on a plate about the size of a bread plate. Entree was good and I ordered the fish of the day which was red fish. Cooked perfectly. Dessert was a pastry with pecan pie filling...Filling was cool...Will not return"

  • "Located right next to St. Louis Cathedral, this restaurant was a great spot for my wife and I to have a nice dinner. I won't say quiet or romantic because of the energy and noise level. The food however was excellent, and I had trouble choosing only one entree from the abundance of choices on the menu. We dined there on a Saturday evening in the spring so you can imagine that it was very busy. The wait staff was doing their best, but I did leave feeling a bit under served. If you are looking for great creole cuisine with lots of new and different varieties, then this is a place for you to try."

  • "What a treat to dine at a restaurant with deep culinary roots in the heart of the city...and have them be real people! Our wine steward, waiter and busboy were gracious making recommendations, explaining menu items, friendly conversation even when they became busier and even took us upstairs for a quick sunset view of the city before a banquet began. Of course the food was great, but sometimes it's about the total package :) thank you Howard, Sean and Roy! It was a wonderful last evening for our family in NOLA. (& one of the managers too-but I didn't catch his name...he was chatty & nice :)"

  • "Tableau has the real deal with it's classic creole food and beautiful setting. Courtbouillion was so layered in it's flavors and the eggs Sardou was wonderful. loved it!"

  • "We went here pre-theater before going to the excellent Cat on a Hot Tin Roof being presented next door. The service was fine. The food was good. The noise level was high. We got our money's worth, but will not rush back here as a destination. Brennens' properties can best be viewed as an upscale chain. Each one has a different angle, but they all feel similar. They are competently run and do not disappoint. But neither do they excite."

  • "Located in the French Quarter at Jackson Square, two blocks from Bourbon Street. The food is outstanding, the service is really good, the seating is spacious and the atmosphere is perfect. You truly feel that you are in a unique spot from "back in the days" yet it is all up to date. The menu is very diversified but they deliver on quality, quantity and flavor."

  • "Beautiful place with a wonderful courtyard and view of Jackson Square. The food was average overall. My husband enjoyed the lamb chops, our friend the filet mignon. and the panko crusted veal was tender and flavorful. The potatoes were divine but the brussel sprouts were just fair. Everyone enjoyed the bread pudding but it lacked sauce. We were all VERY disappointed in the Strawberry "shortcake" as we were expecting a traditional shortcake because I had read so many reviews about the shortcake at Commander's Palace and both restaurants ware owned by the same group. After mentioning that to the server I was disappointed he did not bring to my attention that the shortcakes were VERY different. Nobody at our table liked the Tableau version"

  • "Our first visit to this Dickie Brennen restaurant and we were not disappointed. Our dishes were delicious, well prepared and presented the way you would expect. The wait staff were right on target and couldn't perform any better. Great balcony dining if you like to people watch and also noticed courtyard dining. We plan on returning to try different menu items."

  • "Our reservations were for 7:30. We did not get seated until 8:15. Two of us ordered the oyster appetizer. The plate was presented with over cooked oysters and several lumps of the fried batter! I had the lyonnaise salad which was very good. The the paneed veal was not. It was very heavy, greasy and over cooked. Two diners had the tournedos. One was ordered medium rare but came medium well. In both cases, the foie gras was just about burned to a crisp. Totally inedible. A manager came by the table and we voiced our complaints and he offered desserts on the house as well as removing one entree from the total bill. The Creme brûlée & Salted caramel ice cream were excellent, but sadly did not compensate for an appallingly bad dining experience."

  • "We had reservations at 7:30 and arrived on time. We were delayed in getting seated for close to an hour because they apparently overbooked with a large private gathering on their second floor. Hostesses were a bit frantic. Once seated the service was adequate but not great. Food was very good. Lots of really good places in N. O.--second experience with over booking at Tableau--may be a while before we try it again."

  • "Overall this was an excellent evening. I only had one thing that bothered me. My friends and I went in for my 21st birthday (so we were obviously a different crowd than this restaurant is used to--people in their early to late adulthood). Our server seemed to realize this right away and gave us less attention than he did his other tables. Having a lot of experience in the service industry as a waitress myself, I definitely understand this sort of 'triage' as I like to call it. However, it bummed me out. Still good service, just slow because he was paying attention to his other tables considerably more. Had to get up to find him to order things once. Thought it was worth noting, but we still had a great time."

  • "I had the specked trout praline style. It was awesome. The crabmeat ravigote as a starter was also outstanding."

  • "While quite friendly the service was pretty weak. No bread for out table. So much for the one minute great - more like five. The good was very good but even good food served like warm is not ideal. Duck dish and steak dish were warm at best. Too bad. Servers were very friendly but not very attentive. And it was not crowded - only three other tables in our section - so it may have been the kitchens fault. Can't go back given the cost and a threat of that experience."

  • "Disappointing. Expected better from a Brennan's restaurant. Overpriced for what we got. Entree was good but we didn't like the desserts or bread. Courtbouillon was good. Other entree was grilled fish. Tasty but a very small portion. Creme brulee was served on a medium size plate which meant there was little creme and way to much carmelized sugar. It was way too sweet. Service was fine until it came to dessert then we waited half an hour to be served. Also, no one ever asked how the food was."

  • "Brought a group of 22 for dinner - entertaining clients/prospects following trade show. Food was excellent, staff attentive. Beautiful décor! Restaurant was very accommodating, as we were continually adjusting the number of guests. Would definitely recommend to others, and will definitely return on a future visit to New Orleans."

  • "I had the gumbo entree which was spicy (but not too spicy) and delicious! My friends loved their meal selections too. The monkey bread dessert was fabulous!"

  • "The food was fantastic. We happen to be there on a night where there seemed to be a convention in town and a lot of large groups that were a little loud to create the romantic atmosphere we were going for. Beautiful surroundings and weather was a little cold to enjoy the inviting courtyard. Perfect location and will definitely be back. Hopefully not a restaurant full of business people next time."

  • "We had reservations but a large party had arrived before us so we had to wait a about 20 minutes. Not the ideal when you have an antsy older lady who wants to eat. We had a great appetizer tray and the coullivion and duck were out of this world. My friend loved the eggs benedict. The deserts were divine. The wine list is good and not outlandish. Dickie Brennan does a great job with all his restaurants and he is a philanthropic person. Whatever he touches turns to gold. I will be back for the veal. great for Birthdays-Creme Brule is out of this world."

  • "We were very excited to try Tableau but we would not go back. The waiter(s) were not well informed, not polished, not great. The food was o.k. but not great. They skimped on drinks. The location is great. One nice part about the menu is the option to have a smaller portion or a full size portion. As this is a Brennan's restaurant, one would expect better than we had......"

  • "We enjoyed a delicious Sunday brunch at Tableau, our table was just inside, overlooking the courtyard where there is a lovely fountain. The Creole Scotch Eggs were out of this world good, the Croque Madame was good but not as great as the scotch eggs. Also enjoyed the lyonnaise potatoes and a few cocktails."

  • "After reading so many bad reviews, I got worried. But Tableau delivered! No waiting for table, seated as requested, wait staff attentive, food good. Different rooms have different atmosphere. Drawing room is more bar-like with TVs on the walls, the balcony overlooking Jackson square is fun, and other rooms were elegant for fine dining. The food was good, but nothing off the charts -- we all had the fish of the day. Definitely warrants a return visit!"

  • "Had a lovely dinner with the wife and kids. Nice selection on the menu. Very prompt service. Seated right on time. Large portions of the entrees left nobody hungry after dinner My steak and marrowbone was cooked perfect. The turtle soup was excellent. Sampling others plates was of uniform good quality. I would definitely come back to this restaurant in a second. The location off Jackson Square is perfect for an after meal trip around the Quarter. The meal was overall a great experience and just below the very best restaurants I've been to, while being substantially less expensive."

  • "We started our lunch by splitting the Grand Royale--it was good, not great. The crabmeat ravigote was the best of this appetizer. Next, turtle soup and seafood gumbo for my son and hubby--I'm a gumbo "snob," so I'll say it is good but not off the charts. I settled on the demi-portion of Tournedos Rossini Moderne because I love foie gras and marchands de vin sauce--cooked medium rare--it did not disappoint. However, the star dish of our lunch was my son's roasted duck--OMG, it was incredible! We split the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee for dessert--nice presentation. As far as the wait staff, I observed our waiters to be somewhat amateur or confused. All in all, though, we had a nice lunch and will probably go back in the future."

  • "We selected Tableau as a restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. First they tried to seat us in the upstairs bar which was noisy and had large flat screen tvs. After complaining, they did move us to a quieter room in the rear. The food was good, but the service was less than adequate. The staff seemed very inexperienced and not what you would expect for an establishment within this price range."
