Nice restaurant in an interesting edge location. The cocktails were very good - exactly what you expect from a high end Chicago spot. Unfortunately the food was not great. We had the deviled egg appetizer which was pretty good and interesting, but after that the food was under-seasoned, or ill-conceived and the service was lacking. In gerneral the food was OK/good, but I would not go back for the food at that pricepoint

I was recommended to Table Fifty Two and I was not disappointed. I was dining alone since I was on a conference; they have a small bar area and it was perfect for me. I felt comfortable and staff were attentive but not overpowering. The restaurant is beautiful and cosy and the food was delicious. Apparently it is a Sunday tradition to have the Fried Chicken; Yum!

Greeting upon entering the restaurant was nice and waiter promptly visited to go through the specials. Yet, after we placed our order, we never saw our waiter again, only the assistants. The starter provided by the restaurant of cheesy biscuits was delicious and our fried green appetizer was great. My pork entree was disappointing and I've never seen pork served so rare with a cold center, but the fried chicken entree was good. Overall, didn't feel like we got good value.

Loved the dining room, good service, but the food was very salty!! I had scallops which I wouldn't normally salt and they were covered in a salty seasoning. The pork tenderloin was fairly salty too but nothing in comparison to the scallops. Deviled eggs were great!

This was my second visit. First time absolutley fabulous, this second time the food was great but sadly the service was lacking. It took our waitor a while to remember my friend's coffee and then when we added on a mac and cheese he was no where to be found so we asked the gentleman when he came to refill our water. Overall the food was excellent just wish we had a little bit better sevice since I bring guests who are in town there.

I have enjoyed an Art Smith cookbook, Kitchen Life, for many years so was excited to discover this restaurant. We went as a group of five and had an excellent evening of visiting. A special favorite was the shrimp and grits appetizer. We had a very good waiter which added to the fun of the evening spent with friends.

Having lived in North Carolina for several years, I truly appreciate Southern cooking. Table 52 teased, but didn't quite deliver. Corn fritters were tasty, but shrimp and grits was just OK. we never got the heirloom tomato salad we ordered. Fried catfish, fried chicken and three-cheese mac likewise were OK, but both were too bland for my liking. Is there any red pepper in the kitchen? Collard greens and Art's hummingbird cake were the hits of the evening. All in all, it was struck me as too expensive, especially as it is a la carte. At $24 for fried chicken, you'd think you'd get a couple sides, instead of just mashed potatoes.

The restauranr was charming but the wait staff was a disappointment and therefore we were frustrated.. The restaurant was NOT crowded so there was no excuse to wait 15 minutes for a cocktail. At the end of the meal we had to ask for the check 3 times. The staff was kind but there was no reason for the over all delay. By the way, a local vodka martini $15! You have to be kidding

The traditional favorites are scrumptious. If I could cook like this, I'd never go out! The service was impeccable as well. We had pork tenderloin with grilled cauliflower and a saucy with a touch of heat. From a woman who never eats cauliflower, I couldn't get enough of this pairing. Watermelon & basil gazpacho. Pimm's & stormy. Never a better mid-summer meal. Yumm! We will be back again, and again!

Table Fifty-Two was our favourite dinner on our most recent weekend in Chicago. My husband had the seasonal scallops which were "the best (he's) ever had," and I tried their watermelon gazpacho (yum!) and famous fried chicken which is definitely famous for good reason. Delicious. The one dish that kept us talking all weekend was the sweet corn succotash my husband chose to accompany his scallops. It was perfect in every way and I will be emailing dear Mr. Smith for the recipe very soon! Not to mention the location and ambiance is purely and perfectly Chicagoan. Five stars across the board.

It is an OK place. Interesting setting inside remodeled house. Service was a little bit slow, but everybody was friendly. Food is OK - we like to eat food that we would have hard time preparing at home but nothing on the menu is out of ordinary. And the menu is very short/small. The lights are dim, too much for my liking, couldn't read menu. Some awfully loud guests there (read young woman with annoying laugh) but nothing that restaurant can do about this. Guests were middle / upper class. Won't be back because of food selection - really limited.

She countinued through the entire with the same rude behavior. She ignores us and She threw our dessert bites on to the table. Can't say I'll be back.

In Chicago on vacation, my husband and I were looking forward to brunch at Table 52 for weeks. Reservations were for 10:30 and the weather was fantastic! We were seated immediately and very quickly waiter asked for our drink order. Waiter was very polite, knowledgeable and attentive, atmosphere was great. The complimentary sweet potato bread and cinnamon butter was astonishingly good! I had the fried chicken and waffles which were sadly only average. Chicken lacked seasoning. Nothing to make them stand out. My husband had boudin vert, which was good, and elegantly prepared, but again nothing that made it "pop" - the boudin was surprisingly bland. Were expecting more from a restaurant associated with the respected Art Smith.

Great restaurant all-around. Our starters were beautifully plated and dressed with the right amount of dressing. Our waiter was excellent- attentive to our wine and water glasses, etc. The ambiance on the second floor was energetic but still romantic (lighting at just the right setting, etc). Entrees were excellent; they somehow make fried fish not taste heavy. As for dessert, the pecan pie is a must. We really loved Table 52. An intimate restaurant that does everything very well.

My sister and I chose this restaurant because it was near our hotel and they had a vegetarian option for me to eat. We were both extremely happy with our meals. I had the risotto and my sister ordered the fried chicken. Both were beautifully prepared and delicious. The place was small and sweet, probably a little better suited to a romantic evening out, but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. Go for the hummingbird cake, if nothing else;)

We had an excellent meal at Table Fifty-Two. All four of us enjoyed our dinners - Fried chicken, shrimp & grits, greens, mac & cheese, deviled eggs, ... Everything was a bit different than one might expect for the dish. For example, the deviled eggs of the night had a kick that one would not get in the usual eggs encountered at a picnic. I would have added another star, but service was a bit slow. In spite of getting there at 5:45 we didn't have time for dessert and coffee and still get to Second City a bit early for the 8pm show.

The food exceeds words to describe the amazing flavors! Just close your eyes and savor every bite. We are already planning our next visit. The deviled egg were light and delicious! We were lucky enough to try hushpuppies that were not on the regular menu. Each bite was more delicious than the next. My husband and I both enjoyed the catfish, and were not disappointed! This was an anniversary dinner to remember. We now compare every meal to those we've enjoyed here, as Table 52 is our new gold standard. Few can compare!

Only one waitress for the entire restaurant, so we sat with empty dinner dishes for 20 minutes until we were able to flag her down to get the dessert menu. The food was a disappointment. Corn soup served in a tiny cup. The menu did not mention red pepper as an ingredient on the margherita pizza so neither of our two children enjoyed them -- as they normally would do with a plain pizza. Bizarre flavor combos -- peanuts in a squash risotto with cheese. Banana layer cake was served a little too cold. The frosting was solid as a result, rather than smooth. All around, a disappointment.

Crisping chicken properly while keeping it moist & tender is not an easy task. The Chicken & Waffle dish is well done, not as complex as Roy Oh's masterpiece but a solid dish nonetheless. Preparing grits that by their texture alone explain why they're called grits & by their taste, why one bothers to labour in their preparation takes serious skill & passion. That's the Shrimp & Grits at Table 52. The Cronut is decadent & dreamy. Liquid cheesecake inside a pastry that can only be the love child of a croissant & a donut. We only wished there was a smidgen more white chocolate ganache and a dollop more raspberry coulis. With an attentive server who can pace the service & pair wine to each course insures that Table 52 delivers on expectations
