We loved T D and S. They offer meats that everyone likes but we rarely find on a menu (turkey thighs!), and every dish was creative and delicious. We also loved the appetizers we chose - smoked trout, liver mousse and a cured meat. The wine/beer/drinks menu was fine - not extensive but it covered our varied tastes. Next time we will be sure to sit in the patio in the back - it looked lovely and had a big fire pit to keep us warm.

We came to Table, Donkey and Stick for brunch with our nephew and our 2 year old grand nephew. The restaurant staff were gracious and charming, and delighted our grand nephew. (We do think he was also gracious and charming.) The food was wonderful, the service timely but not at all rushed, and the overall experience was excellent. My wife and I will go back for dinner, though not with our grandnephew. The staff may not be as taken with us, but I am sure they will be every bit as gracious.

Goat entree had crouton-like bread under it that seemed pointless. If there was a sauce or juice it could soak in that would have been good but it was all really just dry. My sturgeon seemed over done. Getting a drink order in and then receiving the drink took very long. Dirty plates were cleared for some not for others. Cramped and loud.

The restaurant is very different. We loved it for being delicate and thoughtful, with good food, service and a romantic ambience, and tegu completely changed the place to what seems like a noisy bar with some communal tables. Food was still good but it's no longer our style!

Cute place for brunch, loved the outside seating, but en-glassed inside seating was wonderful as well. Brunch entrees are smaller than usual, but with a drink, the amount felt just right, which is a rare post-brunch feeling! Fried chicken was incredibly moist, smoked trout plate should have had more trout. Bloody Maries with a kick! Very sweet service.

I went with high expectations, and while the venue is charming, the food did not live up to it. The coffee cake was dry/hard and was plain, like at a cheap hotel free breakfast. The bread pudding was also dry and lacking flavor/richness. Per my friend, the duck sausage was good. The service was spotty/not communicating with each other so we had to order twice on multiple occasions.

First time, my wife was pregnant and had to avoid the raw cheeses. Expectant moms might want to wait until they aren't on a restricted diet so they can take full advantage of the menu. Fantastic outdoor patio, with no music piped in, so you can actually have a conversation with your date. Food was excellent both times. We had the charcuterie and cheese options, and a couple small plates for dinner, which was more than enough food for the two of us. Drinks were great as well. On a hot night, the G+T can't be beat.

We've been going to Table Donkey Stick since even before it opened, when they we're having a sort of chef audition series. I love the accessibility of the restaurant and the good service by knowledgeable staff. Then, there's the food. It takes me back to the Alsace Lorraine region of France with the pretzels, the rabbit, the soups. The cheese selections are great and the bread is hearty. On Monday nights their specials are impressive and inventive. I highly recommend coming here with friends or partners.

I came here for brunch with a friend. Be advised that their "brunch" menu is really more of a lunch menu being the only brunch-y item was a bread pudding. I had smoked trout with peas and pea shoots and latke that was good (very fresh trout and not excessively smoky). The latke wasn't your traditional shredded potato but more smashed, shaped into a square and a little overcooked. The main dining area is small. The patio wasn't open so we weren't able to experience that. I'll try again for dinner and see if my rating improves.

I am from Boston, and was referred to this restaurant by our Air BnB hosts. I read the Yelp reviews before securing my reservation. The food was OUTSTANDING. We had the pheasant, duck liver and smoked trout to start. My oh my. My steak tartar soup was good, and the pretzel rocked. I was very impressed by the Chicago beer that I had - the Begyle Triple Stamp. We sat outside on a beautiful night around 6 PM, and there were only a few other groups around us. This place was very charming, and so were the people. I love Chicago, and want to come back, and especially to Table, Donkey and Stick!

Maybe it was because they haven't been offering brunch for more than a few weeks, but the inconsistency was unacceptable. The "sides" we're served before anything else; 2 chicken & biscuits were served 10 minutes before the other guests' dishes and 15 minutes before the other chicken & biscuit! When received, the food was very good but since we all were eating at different times it was a very awkward and unenjoyable meal. We received one weak apology when it was obvious we were not pleased. Will not go back any time soon.

We at here on an weekday. After greeting us, our server forgot about us and we had to ask different waiters to be asked to order food throughout the night. We ate the duck dish and the burger. The food was good, but nothing special. Especially given the price point. The ambiance is nice, and the restaurant was certainly busy. Unfortunately I will not be returning.

I am sure they set out to be unique, and they have struck oil. The concept of Alpine cuisine in itself stands alone in Chicago. The home-cures and the fresh ingredients stand out. The bites are great, the small plates are far from small and very satisfying. If there is a letdown, it's the desserts - nice ideas, marginal execution, but it's just dessert. They hit home runs where it counts. Four of us dined and all were very pleased. Service was very attentive, both at bar and at table. The beer selections are excellent and the schnapps selections were as well. None of our party ventured to the wine list so I cannot comment. All in all, it was an excellent experience and we look forward to repeat visits.

Love the name of this restaurant. The staff was wonderful and friendly. Drinks delicious. The chartreuse was very good, but very expensive for the portion sizes--small. A tiny two bite of cheese $7. My sons burger was very good with latke-like potatoes. The grassfed steak was 4 small strips and costly! From where I sat in a small back room you could see the refrigerators. This I didn't like. They had just completed a renovation so maybe this was why, but really? One choice for dessert which had celery in it, making it a hard sell, but it was good--again small. The other desert choices were the same cheeses from the appetizer.

We both ordered the chef's tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed every plate. Much of the emphasis seemed to be on braised root vegetables, robust greens and sauces, even for the meat dishes, but this suited us just fine. Serving staff was very helpful and recommended good wines to go with the dishes.

Fun restaurant, wanderteller is a great starter for a group to nibble on. Definitely get the crispy tripe with house giardiniera and the pork belly with lard drop biscuits! All biscuits should be made of lard. The vegetarian cabbage roll sounds interesting but ends up falling a little flat. We dine out a lot so for our Valentine’s dinner I chose an off-beaten path spot that sounded intriguing. Restaurant called in advance to announce that they’ll have a $70, 5-course menu V-day weekend, which sounded fine. Until we got the recommended glass of wine -murky and sour! I’ve never seen or tasted anything like that in a restaurant that charges so much for a pre-set menu! We settled for another wine by the glass but the “ by the glass” wine selection is uninspired and short. Food was mainly ok (but not first two courses: oyster &trout) but sizes were miniscule - we stopped for a snack after dinner - not an outcome you want after spending over $200 for a meal. I really regret I didn’t stick with one of our classic dinning choices.

The Valentine's Day menu here was an incredible value and every course wowed me. From the cured sea trout with celery and celery root, to the beautifully cooked aged duck breast with fried garlic and candied kalamata olives to the gorgonzola cheesecake dessert that I was so skeptical of, but blew my socks off combining the pungent savory creamy cheese with brandy-soaked olive oil sponge cake and TCHO dark chocolate mousse and shavings. Plus, they have a mean grapefruit gin tonic that pairs well with everything.

I had dinner a few nights ago with the family at TDS and had high expectations. Between the history of the location (formerly Savoy Truffle many moons ago) and the creativity of the menu (not to mention the name), I was excited. In the end, the food was slightly above average and overpriced, which is unfortunate. In fairness, we did not survey the menu, but we did have several small courses, and a couple of the entrees. My measuring stick (judge as you might): if you are going to put a burger on the menu, it better stand out like your ambassador. Here, it was more like being greeted by the assistant to the ambassador-- dressed well, but lacking any real personality. Unfortunately, too many other neighborhood gems to try again.

Donkey's food was very intriguing. The wanders' were small plates but with amazing taste and concoctions that no one has ever thought of. Very unique. Ambiance was filled with Radiohead and a touch of postal service. If the donkey renamed, it would be the bearded hipster. Overall I gave it a 4.5 because it was only close to perfect. I felt a minor rush throughout the night. Waiter coming by the table and asking if we were ready to order every 2 minutes. Also, while eating, if I were to have just one sip of water, there would be someone there to refill. Overall, I recommend anyone but the weak stomach to try.
