- inventive, frequently updated specialty cocktail menu - Bocado has a strong bar program; tonight's choice, "The Crimson," gin, fresh strawberries, vieux pontarlier (absinthe), lemon and prosecco - YUM.
- good selection of unusual wines by the glass, from several countries
- GREAT small plates, especially the creative salads; had a divine beet salad with microgreens, roasted red and yellow beets; goat cheese and citrus slices
- the BURGER STACK; it's as good as everyone says ... really
Only gave service three stars because it was unusually slow tonight. I think our second experience was even better than our first visit. Both my husband and daughter had the burger stack, and I had the pan roasted chicken. Our food was delicious, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. Cocktails are always wonderful as well, although we needed lots of help with the drink menu! Cocktails were fantastic too - well worth the $10 a piece. We had 2 appetizers that were delicious as well. I had a 9pm reservation and the place was still packed... the lighting is low and although the space is fairly small, it doesn't feel the least bit uncomfortable. Great find... The hostess seemed to recognize that the noise bothered us so she set a table for us in a side room and opened the door next to our table. Nice breeze and the room was very quiet. The food and service was excellent. We will certainly be back. Their regularly changing list is superb but the bartenders David and Tyler can make anything you want. Equally good is Bocado's starter/small plate selection, with are truly creative and deeply flavored, and based on the highest quality ingredients. The list of entrees is short but hits the needed categories (seafood, chicken, beef, etc.) and each entree is nicely conceived, delicious and well proportioned. It comes one way, and that is really all you need. Everything else on the menu looks great, but I cannot skip the Bocado Burger Stack when I go. Not a place for a quiet or focused conversation. The fact that it's on the smaller side helps makes it feel more intimate. Based on other outside reviews, we tried the stacked burger and it did not disappoint. We definitely will rank it as one of the top burgers we've eaten to date. They have a decent selection of beers/wines to try out. Service was good and we did not have to wait for a table when we visited. The reasonable prices and good food will likely keep Bocado a destination place in this vibrant and growing area. Would go back without hesitation.
