Diner Reviews
  • "Whatever is fresh and in season is highlighted on the blackboard menu. Vegetables and salads are always special and often involve unusual items (like fiddlehead ferns) that distinguish this from other restaurants. They have a deft light touch with vegies and salads that is both healthful and tasty. The regular menu features brussel sprouts that appeal even to people who don't favor that vegie. They do a good job with fish and meats, and aspire to greatness when they can get their hands on a particularly good specialty."

  • "When my fiancé found this place online, I was hesitant to know there was a great romantic restaurant in pacific beach, but I my worries were quickly diffused when I saw the place and tasted the food. The ambiance was relaxing and quiet. I was able to keep a conversation going without having to raise my voice. The server and staff had smiles all around. They were also accommodating to my fiancé's food allergies and made a great dish for her. If you're looking for a night out with that special someone, this must be your dining choice."

  • "We and our guests liked the food...however, we all found the music way too loud...could not easily visit...the noise level in the restuarant is too loud overall. The wine and beer were great. The chicken was fabulous! Please give these comments to Table 926. Thank you."

  • "We just visited Table 926 for the first time (and after trying to get in on two other occasions). The food was excellent - we began with the Ahi Tuna Stack, then shared the Beet Salad, and finally had the Corvina (fish). All were most excellent!!! The Service was great too - they did a good job of double teaming so if we needed anything, there was always someone available to help. The only draw back to us was that the noise level was very high and it was difficult to carry on a conversation - the outside tables with heaters looked a bit more suitable for enjoying a quiet and romantic meal. We will be back!!!"

  • "I liked the food and wine, but for some reason they do not serve hard liquors or cocktails. The wine list is limited, but the wines by glass are just superb. I will definitely come back again."

  • "Table 936 was pretty tasty. I had hanger steak and frites e arugula salad. My friend had lamb bucatini. Both delicious and cooked perfectly. Appetizer was good, yellowtail tartare and chips. Would have preferred different chips. The dessert we selected was cranberry orange bread pudding w ice cream and that was not really prepared well like bread pudding I'm used to."

  • "Tucked off of Turquoise, this intimate gourmet diner has great food with large portions! It was a little loud, indicating that it is well-liked by locals. Service was a bit slow, but the food was worth waiting for. All of the dishes were very flavorful and original."

  • "All was very nice. I live around the corner so consider it a "neighborhood gem." Prices reasonable. Gnocchi was excellent. Two of us had the two fish dishes offered. Both were generous portions and good but both fish dishes were slightly overcooked, unfortunately. Otherwise very enjoyable evening."

  • "What a wonderful evening! Perfect food and wine parings, a knowledgeable wine guide to explain each pouring, delicious food imaginatively prepared, and superb service. It couldn't have been better! This is one of the best restaurants in San Diego."

  • "The food and customer service was excellent. Since it was San Diego restaurant week, we selected the 3 course meal option that included an appetizer, main course, and dessert. All three items were delicious and reasonably priced."

  • "Table 926 was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint. The experience was amazing the food and surrounding were composed perfectly for a romantic night out. My girlfriend and I both go to try new foods not just the traditional steak or fish. The food represented the culture and the style of the chef. It was a pleasure to dine at this restaurant. I will be back hungry for more!"

  • "We came for restaurant week and had a great time. Our server was great and so was the food."

  • "The Restaurant week prompted my girlfriend and myself to check out this tucked away neighborhood restaurant that we havent had a chance to dine at. We took advantage of the deal, and even though the quality of the food was great, the service and time to bring out the food along with the wait staff was mediocre. As stated the roast I ordered was tender and melted in my mouth like butter, and my girlfriend enjoyed her fish. However, there were multiple times where we waited longer than normal for the next meal; after we finished our dessert, it took awhile for the waitress to bring our check up. I almost was tempted to order another bottle of wine, but she was not in sight. After this lackluster service, I won't be back or tell others to go."

  • "We chose this restaurant because of it's restaurant week menu. We had never been there before and were quite happy we had given it a try. I chose Gnocchi, Fish and chocolate cake. The food was delicious. The restaurant's decor is wonderful and clean. The ambiance is nice. I know they have a kid's menu, but since my kids are interested in the regular menu we didn't try it or even looked at it, however i thought it was nice of them to have a kids menu at a "grown up" place. I believe this restaurant was a Cajun place before, but like i mentioned before, they did a fantastic job with the remodel. I would recommend giving this place a try, the food is fantastic!"

  • "Liked this restaurant and will return, primarily because great wines and food is very good. But their website says they offer a flight of wines to taste on Tuesday nights, but they've canceled that, which was disappointing. They made no accommodation when we said we came to dine with that in mind. Duck tacos were too salty, but fish entree called "sheeps head" was superb. Nice ambiance, good lighting and contemporary music at low volume. Overall a B+ to A-."

  • "Really nice fresh well cooked to order food. Very nice evening selection ranging from NY strip to swordfish. Neither overcooked and served hot. Very agreeable waitress. Good wine corkage cost as I have many old Bordeaux 's at home that need to be consumed. Been ther four to five times. Each time as good oo as the last."

  • "This restaurant is located in a great neighborhood and is a true find. Small location is perfect for a casual, quiet dinner out. The servers were all very helpful and great about sharing their thoughts on the food and drinks. We shared the duck tacos, brussel sprouts appetizers and swordfish entree. All was done very well and in very unique and flavorful style. Looking forward to going back again!"

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Table 926 this past Sunday, and had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious, fresh and with great flavors. The staff were very attentive and we didn't want for anything. We had great service but also weren't rushed - we were given the space to relish our meal, and we did! We will be back."
    Dined on 1/5/2014
  • "Overall, a good experience, but the portions of food were a bit to nouvelle for me. The service and staff did not match the ambiance very well, meaning that they were a bit rough and scattered, not very refined at all. There were lots of examples where servers brought food to the wrong tables, including the same server at his own tables. The hostess seemed unhappy to be there and as we left the restaurant, what appeared to be the manager and that same hostess never looked up, never said a word or thank you. If I am going to spend $160 on dinner for two at your restaurant, at least thank me on the way out."

  • "When you see the restaurant tucked away at the end of its parking lot, you might wonder why the restauranteur chose the location. It is difficult to locate unless you are gps'ed to the spot but once you are inside all doubts vanish. The maître d greets you warmly at the door and introduces you to a waiter who will be one of the most attentive waitstaff you have ever encountered. The menu is varied and interesting and the food is terrific. The wine list isn't extensive but the choices are very solid and varied enough that any oenophile will find something to be pleased with and the prices are quite modest. The restaurant is very worth the ride up from downtown San Diego or down from La Jolla. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Surprisingly delicious food, given the rather pedestrian ambience."

  • "This hard-to-find restaurant is one of San Diego's best. Imaginative fresh cuisine is prepared with simple elegance. Happy hour (5 to 6 daily) is the best bargain in town with half-off gourmet chow. Don't miss this one! They locally source many food items too to assure freshness."

  • "This cozy restaurant is farm to table concept. The food choices on their seasonal menu were lovely. Pork Tenderloin paired with Quinoa and a chutney is a great example - however - some of the dishes we picked were heavy on the salt. Great wine down Wednesday promotion selling bottles at 50% off."

  • "We love going to Table 926... it's always a great dinner - from the food to the setting to the overall experience. The prices factor in that most items are "farm-to-table" as they say on their web site, and our server made a point to note that the sauces are all made in house - even the dessert toppings. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Can't say enough about this restaurant . The food is unexpected and the flavors are amazing. The presentation is over the top. The food is so so good."
    Dined on 10/25/2013
  • "The wine list was woefully inadequate. In the lower tier of choices, the lowest price point for a bottle of wine was $40, which is much higher than the food cost. Instead of having two choices of the same appellation at the same price, it would have been much better to have one at $20-25 and another at $40. We normally spend $35-50 per person, and our bill this time was $72 per person, which is not appropriate for a casual dinner out with friends. Because of this, our regular group will not be returning, despite the innovative food, great service and convenient location."
    Dined on 10/22/2013
  • "The menu is limited in options and price. I was torn between 2 possibilities, Lamb Ragu or Pork Tenderloin. I went with the waiter's suggestion, Lamb Ragu. GREAT CHOICE! Loved it! Portion was adequate and flavors delectible. Dessert was OK, not remarkable but anything with chocolate is a winner in my book. The challenge is parking, finding a spot on the street."

  • "Table 936 is a hidden gem in North Pacific Beach. The atmosphere is quiet with good energy. The wine and staff are what truly makes the experience. The knowledge and serving etiquette shines through and creates a great dining experience. We will be back for future events and business meetings."

  • "We had a great dining experience coupled with excellent service from our server, Ali. The food was innovative and tasty with a great wine selection (again, help from Ali) and a mouthwatering dessert. The restaurant is tucked away in a business area and a little bit off the beaten track but we found it OK and had a very nice time. I Highly recommend looking this place up!"

  • "We've eaten at Table 926 a few times now. (The owner is a friend of a friend.) They have a small, purposeful menu - with something for everyone. Their concept is to use as many local, fresh ingredients as possible. As such, all of the sauces are made right there at the restaurant - and the flavor is amazing. Our favorites so far have been the fish dishes we've had - and the tempura squash blossom tacos. A flower. Fried. In a taco. Seemed crazy but was great. There was music when we were there - and the place was busy, so the noise level was high, but didn't impede conversation. We'll definitely be back."
