The atmosphere is great and the food is always exquisite. But for me the thing that sets Table 24 apart from other restaurants is the incredible level of service. The waitstaff here is always phenomenal and the management knows how to treat their customers. Our waiter, Phil, was amazing--he was able to join in our sense of humor but obviously tailored his demeanor to each table he served. He was running, busy, but very attentive to everyone's needs. Nevertheless, as big city foodie snobs our expectations for a Rutland, Vermont restaurant were limited. So we were surprised at how terrific the food was. The cornbread was the best any of us had ever had. The beer and wine lists were excellent (the Harpoon seasonal Celtic Red was very good). The atmosphere was warm and unpretentious, the service friendly and the prices reasonable. We got the duck fritter appetizer. Very good and not too large but large enough to share. Then I had the duck confit raviolis. I'm not sure if it's a regular on the menu but it was AMAZING.
