  • "This restaurant is a good one. The food and service is great. Our steaks are super."

  • "What a great find in the middle of no where. The Tabernash Tavern was outstanding in all aspects. Michelle our waitress was exceptional; providing us with ideas and suggestions after listening to our questions. This establishment would be five stars if in any major metro area, but to be in the middle of the Rockies (not Aspen or Vail) is a great find for my wife and I who recently got away from the big cities."

  • "Unique menu selections including game. Elk strip steak was fantastic. Expensive entrees, sides and salads extra. Was a bit difficult for my teens to decide on an entree, as selections were mostly exotic, so not entirely family-friendly, but not exactly fine ambiance either. They do have a kids menu for younger kids. Might go again for a special occasion."

  • "Whenever we're skiing at Winter Park, we head to Tabernash Tavern for dinner one night. The food and wait staff make it well worth the drive. We look forward to the creative international menu."

  • "Very good and different types of dishes. Ambiance was very nice as well. The service was a bit slow, but it was crowded. I would return and recommend."

  • "Had a fantastic meal. The only downside was choosing between all the delicious offerings, and the shortage of tummy space in which to put them! Dining with two children, ages 5 and 7 can be challenging, but their kids menu was good, and the kids enjoyed it as much as the adults. I would highly recommend Tabernash Tavern to anyone looking for a fine meal at a fair, though not cheap, price."

  • "Really nice place with comfortable atmosphere and menu variety. The variety of different meals and price ranges are exceptional. Our server did a great job and took very good care of us. We were just a party of two and she also had a party of six. It was a steak night, we both ordered the filet, a couple glasses of wine, preceded with an appetizer and ended the meal with the mudslide pie. Everything was great, only thing I can knock was that the mudslide pie was frozen in the middle."

  • "You must start with the mussels. The food was excellent. Now I know why it is so popular."

  • "The halibut special was the best halibut meal I've ever had, and the ohter menu items were great also."

  • "We have driven by the Tabernash Tavern many times on vacation and finally had enough time to try it. We went with two other couples and has a great time. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, interesting menu with good food, and a good wine list. We will definaly go back on future ski trips. It is a great local gem."

  • "I was surprised to find so exclusive restaurant with excellent wine list with the best service and food in the middle of nowhere, and I mean it, in the middle of nowhere. It is 10-12 milles from Winter Park, where all restaurants and tourist attractions are located. You will pass throughout the town with one street with the same name Tambernash and right by the interstate road 40 you will see a old little building. That will be the restaurant where reservations are required, the ambience so unic it is comfortable and cozy and food is delicious... Five stars for everything, only one thing is missing, it is espresso mashine, but taking under considerations small space of that buliding we can forgive them for it."

  • "My husband and I were introduced to this restaurant by our family that lives in the area several years back. Every time we visit Winter Park, getting reservations at Tabernash Tavern is a must. The menu is creative and the food is outstanding. There are so many dishes from each category that we wanted to try, we made reservations for a second time in the same week . I highly recommend the quinoa stuffed pablano as well as the lamb shanks. We are eager to try the wild game meatloaf, tavern mussels and pasta pescatore on our second visit. I suggest you check out their menu on line to get an idea of their extensive menu."

  • "The restaurant smelled like they had used sour cleaning clothes to wipe tables."

  • "The Tabernash Tavern was only ok. We found the service to be very slow. I ordered a "seafood" Thai curry soup and only found 1 small piece of seafood in what amounted to be just a spicy tomato broth. Also a little stingy with the bread. When our group of 5 requested additional bread we were given a pretty meager replacement basket with mostly a sweet banana bread. (The little white bread we got and fought over was good) Entrees were ok, but no one was swooning over the food and the prices were very high. I would not recommend for the price."

  • "We were at the restaurant for 2 hours. Server forgot to give us one appetizer. He comp. it but we were well past the "hunger" zone. Eight tops and two tops with the same server is a nightmare. They are totally different animals. We were forgotten even though we sat center stage."

  • "Don't be thrown by the name of this restaurant! It may sound like the local bar but the chef here is world class. Alberto Sapien is the owner and chef and his menu is full of foods from around the world and everything is cooked to absolute perfection! His mussels are the best I've ever had! We've eaten here twice, once with a large group and we sampled many items off the menu and once just the two of us. The restaurant had many diners talking and enjoying themselves which is the ambience I love and the servers are very personable and prompt. The food is some of the best I've ever had anywhere and I've traveled all over the world. Please give this mountain tavern a try. I guarantee you'll be back."

  • "We had a wonderful experience! The food was divan and ambience was excellent! It was worth weathering the white out on our drive back to Granby Ranch."

  • "The menu includes innovative dishes with game meats, excellent wine, and aesthetically pleasing presentation. The atmosphere is cozy with exposed beams, a distinctive bar, and outstanding service."

  • "Love this place, has been extremely popular since it opened. Had made a reservation about a month in advance, requested to be seated in the front room, upon arrival there was not a table available in that room. The hostess was very apologetic, the computer evidently moves seating around. She was very nice and worked it out so we got our table in the front room after a brief wait. Food was outstanding as always. Enjoyable dinner!"

  • "Reading reviews on line I expected this place to be wonderful. It was not. The portions were huge but nothing special and not hot."

  • "I have never been disappointed here, it's my favorite restaurant in the Winter Park / Fraser Area and I have been coming here for a number of years."

  • "We were visiting Winter Park and ate at the Tabernash Tavern both nights. The food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. There was a lot of variety on the menu. The ambiance is casual and friendly--it appeared that there were many regular customers. If we'd been there another day we would have returned for lunch!"

  • "Another excellent dinner at the Tavern. Three different dishes between the three of us and all excellent. Portions are very generous. Highly recommend the mussels. The wine list needs work. It is serviceable but lacks variety. Wines are well-priced but selections are too limited."

  • "Tabernash Tavern serves some of the most creative dishes, only 4 miles north of Winterpark on 40. Very easy to find. The atmosphere is traditional and warm. Service is custom, not generic."

  • "We visit twice a year, while on vacation from Atlanta. We look forward to this experience- usually it is a good one. HOWEVER this last visit (Saturday Jan. 18) was sub-par, to put it kindly. The SAUCE on the mussels was great. Unfortunately, about half of the mussels were 'duds' - that is, they did not open during cooking (indicating dead before preparation). My husband pried them open with his fingers and ate them anyway. The steaks were excellent, cooked perfectly. But the vegetable sides were 1) ice cold, and 2) ODD - overcooked cauliflower with goodness-knows-what on top, and mashed potatoes with corn mixed in. Really? - mashed potatoes with corn is something one gives to a toddler, not to an adult looking for a fine dining experience."

  • "We've been there many times. Gets crowed (and a bit loud) during peak tourists days. Food is imaginative, varied, and delicious."

  • "This place was wonderful. Exceptional food and service. I'm from out of town so looking at the outside I was a little surprised that it was a fine dining restaurant. The food was pretty expensive and a little overpriced but I'd pay for that again and again. Seafood Mac and cheese was the best."
    Dined on 1/6/2014
  • "The food here is so creative with the combinations, sauces, and presentation. Everytime we have been here, there is something new on the menu, so lots of variety. We get up to the mountains 4 or 5 times a yr and try to stop in each time."
    Dined on 8/13/2013
  • "We come often and always enjoy the food and the service. The bar area has the best ambiance. My only complaint is that the entree portions tend to be huge, so I generally avoid them and order starters or a salad even when the entree otherwise appeals to me."

  • "Food was amazing. Service was great. They need to due something about the heat in the main dining area though as it was a bit chilly back there."
