  • "We had a reservation for 6:30, but got there a little early. It's a small place and it did fill up. We were able to pick some items off the Happy Hour menu and were very pleased. The fried garbanzos were scrumptious and the beet salad very good. We also split a plate of the codfish cakes-delicious. The only "disappointment" was the Piernitas-barbecued chicken legs. They were okay, but not as good as everything else. My wife ordered the Keftas and I the Cojonudo. Both were excellent. A great place for 4 or more people so you can really graze!"

  • "Three women friends and I went to you establishment to celebrate one of our 60th birthdays. We found it lively, creative and a unique food experience. We are glad we chose it for such a special occasion for a dear friend, and will definitely be back!"

  • "eat at both, this one and sister restaurant Boca. Taberna was good and is probaly better for the younger crowd which we were not. Music was nice but had to change tables as we were right next to the stage and that was too loud. Food was good, the cocktails were unusual. We like the Tapas system of several small items. All of which were good; the pork was a lttle over done. Fun place. Service was young energetic and very friendly and good. Value is better then sister restaurant Boca but for the older crowd I recommend La Boca (just around the corner)"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner of about 3 tapas and then a small paella. We caught some of Happy Hour prices for wine and a couple of tapas. Good deal. The live music began as our beautiful paella arrived. We were right next to the 2 guitars and harp and still could easily talk to each other. It was beautiful background music. The place was really busy when we left around 7:45. Service was good, they could have used another server that night but we were in no rush. Always a wonderful experience here at Taberna."

  • "Chef Caruso has a real hit with this place. It's more casual than his equally wonderful La Boca, just around the corner. The food is a fantastic mix of authentic Spain, with some new twists added. The wait staff was so friendly and helpful, and the place has more of a feel of an actual Spanish Bar, where tapas are a part of daily life in Spain. We had a great meal, and just a terrific experience."

  • "Night #1 we were directed there when the sister restaurant Boca had a 2 hour wait. We sat at Taberna's bar and had tapas and wine for several hours. A great evening! We loved everything so much that we decided to go back the next night for the 3 course Paella dinner for $20. Excellent and as an added bonus I overheard that there was a Groupon which I did use."

I love to come with 3-4 of my best friends so I can try a bite of everything, but its great for a 2 person date too. My server Sara was very sweet and made the meal flow seamlessly. I will keep coming back to this place as often as possible."

  • "We enjoyed our food very much. Love the atmosphere. It was noisy but we could still enjoy our conversation and heard each other fine. The wine that the waitress suggested was delicious. The service was very good....the only small problem we had, was that our dirty plates weren't cleared before the new plates of food arrived, so we had to either place our dirty plates on the empty table next to us or flag down a staff person and ask that they take away the dirty plates in order to fit the new plates on our table. Overall it was a very enjoyable and delicious experience. Thank you."

  • "We were vacationing in Sante Fe and had heard great reviews about Taberna. Went on a Friday night and there was a great crowd and fabulous live music. The atmosphere was electric and the food was one of the best meals we had all vacation. The artichoke tapas as to die for as well as the paella. FABULOUS!"

  • "Taberna has been our favorite but lately it seems to have lost it's way. There are fewer tapas on the Happy Hour Menu and the last time we where there two of the four Happy Hour wines were not available. Wait staff has always been great but not so attentive lately."

  • "We went on a Friday night - we are big fans of La Boca and had been a couple of times to Taberna too--food great as usual, service great, but I'm knocking off one star because the performer (Jesus Bas, there every Friday) was so loud my husband and I had to shout across our small two-top table. Maybe the message is that Taberna is more of a bar than an informal version of La Boca (where the emphasis is on the food). It's not that the music was bad, it would have been pleasant at a lower volume. Mr. Bas called out often to get diners' attention (and also called out to some people for a grimace or two they made). If Taberna has some nights without music, we'll probably go back, but we go out so we can talk to each other as well as eat."

  • "If you like a place where the "elite" go, this is the place for you. If you want good food, good service and a place to have an enjoyable evening, try somewhere else. To start, many of the tables are communal and, like its sister restaurant, they are packed in. If you like eating with or on top of strangers, it's OK but we don't. We ended up eating at the bar because the hostess wanted to sit us at a table where people entering the restaurant and waiting to be seated would be standing over our table. The bartender was almost rude and not helpful at all. And the food was ordinary at best. The place was crowded so you're left to conclude it's one of the "cool" places. But we would rather have good food, good service and an enjoyable evening."

  • "The wilted spinach salad was not wilted and just okay. The pork was not not hot and was dry. The artichokes were the best item we got. I was so disappointed with the food. We had eaten at LaBoca, the sister resturant two nights before and it was outstanding, in all respects. Taberna, granted we ate on a slow night. This should not effect the food and the quality. I will not recommend or go back to this restaurant.. There are too many wonderful restaurants in Santa Fe."

  • "I have had wonderful dinners here so I was expecting the same high quality at lunch. Turned out to be very average and dissapointing. I started with the beet soup, which was boring with little flavor. My companion had the shrimp tapas which was loaded with too much raw garlic. Once she removed the garlic, it was edible. Her salad was good. My torte tapas was an artichoke and crimini mushroom which again had little flavor. My salad was fine. I am hoping that this was just an off day and will try it again given previous experiences."

  • "I've eaten at Taberna several times and I generally like it. However, they fell WAY short this time on multiple levels: The hostess was there but not there, the waitress was barely there, the wine was corked (which is OK for an unopened bottle, but NOT when it's a by-the-glass serving), and many of the small plates seem have been made "overly complicated". There were too many flavors competing for attention, and too many similar, overly cooked items added to the main plate item. Do we really need layers of prosciutto AND a strong cheese covering the grilled artichokes? Plus do they need to add overly grilled peppers to so many items? The server never asked me what I thought so couldn't tell her. I'll be back, but with caution."

  • "We really like the atmohere of this restaurant. It is so un-Santa Fe. It has a long bar with great ambiance, and lots of tables, high and low. There were a number of large groups when we were there; we enjoyed all of the tapas. The paella was the best we had ever had - the sausage was nice and spicy, the seafood fresh, not fishy. Our server was pleasant and attentive. The hostess could be more welcoming, but all in all, it was a really enjoyable evening."

  • "Tucked away in an interior courtyard among downtown Santa Fe shops and offices, Taberna transports you to Spain with its authentic look and feel. This casual tapas restaurant enhances it's ambiance by scripting specials on chalkboards around the restaurant. One can dine on an outdoor patio, at the bar or traditional tables. While the ambiance is wonderful, what makes this place so special is its consistent excellent tapas cuisine. Taberna, along withs its sister restaurant, La Boca, is one of my very favorite places in Santa Fe."

  • "This restaurant is a little hard to find for out-of-towners. It is lively, crowded, and unremarkable in decor. But the dishes are well-prepared, reasonable in portion size for price, and often novel. "Happy hour" specials are an even better value. A particular favorite for us was the artichoke pancetta-wrapped dish. Many of the dishes are prepared to order, which resulted in a considerable delay for one of our orders. And a problem with tapas is that you never know how large the serving will be, so it is hard to know at the outset how many dishes you'll want. I don't think our server was especially helpful in that regard."

  • "The herbed tomato and goat cheese tapas was a great way to start our dinner. The chicken with basque bbq sauce was a hit with us and the chorizo bilbao was very good too. Lots of others we didn't get to try this time around so I guess we will have to go again next time we are up in Santa Fe."
