Our second time there. This is the
best restaurant in Connecticut. Hands down. Service and food beyond description. Every bite of every dish most was memorable. P.S. Looks like a very safe neighborhood. I would not hesitate at all."

This was our first time at
Taberna. We had a wonderful dinner and will be back very soon."
Dined on 2/26/2014
First time we went the service was
impeccable, the food could not have been better. The wine list was a welcome surprise. The room did get a little loud after it filled up, but my wife and I were able to continue our conversation without problem."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Food was good and there were many
items I would like to go back for. Service was not very good but I believe it was not typical."

We were in Bridgeport to see music
at the Klein Auditorium so researched dinner options. Didn't have high expectations because not familiar with Bridgeport restaurant scene..We were pleasantly surprised! This little neighborhood gem has fantastic food and warm and friendly service. The menu is quite extensive and we had a number of different tapas and small dishes and all were delicious, flavorful and fresh."
Dined on 1/18/2014
service was spotty and
disorganized. all food was decent nothing was great. atmosphere ok. you will have a decent meal but nothing special. main dish chicken was excellent . service needs to be improved. everyone was pleasant but not consistent with service"
Dined on 1/11/2014
One of our favorite restaurants,
with outstanding food and careful attention from the man in charge. It needs to be better known and appreciated, but it is also wonderful to be able to eat in a quiet environment from time to time. We are never dissatisfied at this restaurant. Fish is always excellent, lamb stew a wonder and the stylish-style tapas very reliable. This time around there were two new servers, who were quite charming but a rough edge or two and need a bit more training. Go there!"

We found Taberna as out of towners
... family owned and operated and it showed ... in all the best ways ... clean, pleasant, friendly ... food was delicious and more thoughtfully prepared than we expected ... all clearly homemade ... even the gnocchi."
Dined on 12/25/2013
The food is the star here and I
was able to forgive any minor shortcoming because of it. The wine list was solid and more resonably priced than the food. The prices are very high, especially given the area which will keep this spot from being a regular stop for us, but for Christmas dinner this was a great choice. The service could be better, while everyone was very nice there seemed to be a lack of experience overall. Will return next Christmas if they are open again."
Dined on 12/25/2013
We found Taberna on Open Table
last minute for Christmas dinner. We were extremely happy with the service, the quality and freshness of the food and the friendliness of the staff. The gnocchi is the best I have ever had! We will definitely be back! Great little place!"

Would recommend to anyone looking
for an exceptional and low-keyed dining experience. Everything is beautiful. The food is superb. The ambience is warm and welcoming. The wine is just sublime."
Dined on 12/7/2013
We enjoyed a lovely dinner in this
very pretty restaurant. The service and food were great-we really enjoyed the paella."
Dined on 11/30/2013
This is a lovely small restaurant
with a friendly chef/owner who sincerly cares about givng you an enjoyable experience. The owner recommended a wine to me which I didn't particularly care for but certainly I would not complain to the chef about. I guess he noticed my expressions and sincerely offered me to select a different bottle of wine even though the other was just opened and not spoiled. The food coming out of the kitchen had a "clean taste" to it, not overloaded with spices. We just loved to ceviche."
Dined on 11/20/2013
Great food! Most definitely a
place we would return to."
Dined on 11/8/2013
When we were seated, we
immediately ordered a bottle of wine. A few minutes later we ordered our food and asked that our entree and appetizers be brought out at the same time. We told our server we had a limited time to eat, and needed to leave in an hour. We were told this would not be an issue. 15 minutes later, we were told our wine choice was "sold out" and we were given a different bottle. Appetizers we did not order were brought to us because our choices were "sold out" TWENTY FIVE minutes after our appetizers were brought out and 45 minutes after we ordered dinner, we were informed that one of our entree choices was sold out. We reminded our server we had to leave soon and he said it wasn't his problem. Never again will we eat here"

We love Taberna. The food and
service are fabulous. They have Tapas if you are into that but we always order the pasta dishes that are made fresh on the premises."
Dined on 11/8/2013
OK so Bridgeport is not exactly
known as a gastronomic capitol, and not necessarily a place that one would think of if having a "where shall we dine tonight?" discussion. But Taberna is worth the trek into the North End of Bridgeport, and is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is no other way to describe the food but outstanding. The pasta dishes are all made fresh on the premises, and the sauces that accompany them are made to order as well. Particularly fabulous are the Ricotta Gnocchi - so light, and covered in the tastiest Bolognese you can imagine. We also tried the Veal Marsala (one caveat is that the "dairy-free" menu options are limited, and this happened to be one of the few) and it was also outstanding. Go!"
Dined on 11/7/2013
Tapas were delicious! Main course
good, but not as good as the tapas."
Dined on 11/1/2013
The staff is very friendly and
personable, but they do often seem a bit discombobulated at time. Three different staff people asked to take our drink order after we had been sitting for what I considered an overly long time. Two of our party ordered tapas as our entrée but they were delivered as appetizers. I give them some allowance because it was a busy night with one big table, but still it should have been better service."

We're long-time patrons of
Taberna, and glad to see it's thriving (and now on OpenTable). Taberna's owner, Daniel, will always ensure your stay top-notch and memorable. As many have mentioned, this is a great find in Bridgeport, tucked away in a spot you'd never expect a restaurant to be. Don't fear the address. Dishes not to miss include the ceviche appetizer, seafood paella, lamb stew, or any special. There are a few dishes that are typically Italian (the pastas), but Taberna puts a fresh Mediterranean spin on them. We've never had anything but a top-notch meal here. Start with their fresh-baked rolls, trust Daniel to pick a wine for you, and enjoy your evening."

Located in a quieter area of
Bridgeport this is the real deal. Delicious Spanish and Mediterranean food, beautifully presented in a a nice and intimate dining room."

I took my daughter and her friend
to Taberna before a show at the Webster Arena. We were in a bit of a rush and it was my daughter's birthday. They accommodated us to perfection - very attentive. The menu selections were fantastic and the food was well prepared and delivered."
Dined on 9/29/2013
We chose to eat at Taberna because
we had an event in Bridgeport with friends. I checked it out on line and it looked interesting and had some rave reviews. When we dined there it was an excellent experience food-wise: all the dishes were well-prepared, tasty and generous. We couldn't believe this gem in an unlikely location in Bridgeport! It's a find. The only short-coming is that the server seemed overwhelmed as the crowd grew and the end of our meal was served slowly and in some disarray. It took a while to get the check and pay."

One of the best restaurants I've
been to in a long long time in southwest CT. A diamond in the rough. I intend to recommend to my colleagues in the area that are looking for a settling dinner for adults with superb food, great wine list, and perfect ambiance (perfect latin music in background)"
Dined on 9/13/2013
Taberna is excellent all around.
The food, service, value, and atmosphere are all equivalent to or exceed other choices in the area. The food was freshly prepared, and of excellent quality. The service was friendly and highly attentive. Parking off-street was an unexpected bonus on Madison Avenue in a primarily residential area. The outdoor patio and open-air bar provided a great place for a pre-dinner drink! Visit Taberna! You will not be disappointed."

Creative menu and delicious from
crab cakes to eggplant stuffed in phyllo dough to veggie pizza. Staff nice. Quiet for lunch. Mediterranean with spanish and italian character. Very accomodating. Neighborhood locale. Will return."

Really great food and service.
there were 5 of us and we all left very satisfied with the food and friendliness of the owner and his staff (small but efficient). First time there and would definitely go again."

EXCELLENT GEM OF A RESTAURANT IN
BRIDGEPORT. THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING, PARTICULARLY, THE CERVICHE. PORTIONS WERE PERFECT AND THE HOUSE MADE RED AND WHITE SANGRIA WERE GREAT. WE CAME FOR A FRADUATION DINNER FOR 9 PEOPLE. EVERYONE WAS IMPRESSED WITH, THE FOOD, DRINK AND SERVICE."
Dined on 6/21/2013
Taberna is consistently excellent.
The food, service, and decor are exceptional and we have never been disappointed in any way. Thank you for striving so diligently to always please. it is greatly appreciated."
Dined on 6/16/2013
There needs to be better
co-ordination with the wait staff. Three different wait people asking about ordering drinks is a bit annoying."
Dined on 6/9/2013
We went to celebrate my daughter's
18th birthday last sunday. We came across this restaurant and were impressed with the menu. All the food that we ordered was excellent with the exception of the lobster ravioli The service was excellent and the location is in a residential neighbourhood.. We definitely would recommend it to friends"

Tucked into a residential section
of Madison Avenue is the Bridgeport edition of the Lopez brothers' delightful Spanish/Italian/Tapas restaurants - frequent visitors to Norwalk's "La paella" this was our first trip to "taberna" and it was certainly up to anticipation. While the staff is not quite as smooth as in Norwalk, they were very hospitable and eager to be sure we were enjoying ourselves (which we were) and our dinners - we actually had two appetizers each, and a salad to start - were nicely presented, very tasty and too large for us to finish, otherwise we would have ordered still more, they were that good. Spanish rice pudding for dessert. NOTE: the "front" room gets loud, but the middle room is more normal."
Dined on 5/26/2013
We had a most enjoyable experience
in terms of food, service and ambience. We hope to return."
Dined on 5/25/2013
We discovered Taberna because it
was the only "Bridgeport" restaurant listed on OpenTable. What a delightful discovery. We were greeted by and enthusiastic waiter who gave us the table of our choice. The menu was extensive but not overwhelming, creative but not over the top. Taberna definitely has a South American flavor and sprit so having just come back from a month in Brazil it was like coming home. The food was well prepared and presented and absolutely delicious! The staff was hospitable and gracious. What more could one ask for in a restaurant. We will definitely be going back and introducing our friends to Taberna."
Dined on 5/19/2013
The menu is Interesting and very
accessible. The food was perfectly seasoned and delicious. While friendly, the service was slow and unprofessional. They not only need to add more wait staff but also to train them better - seemed like they were all young family members rather than "real" employees."
Dined on 5/18/2013
It's an old house in what looks
like a residential neighborhood - a facade that doesn't inspire much hope. But the food - wow. We had all small plates this go around: Grilled calamari, crabcake, prosciutto, carpaccio, empanadas and some how we can't remember the last dish. They were all excellent. We saw gorgeous plates of pasta go to other tables and will try some of those next time. The service felt like you were in someone's home as their guest, not a restaurant. It was warm and attentive. We went at 6:30 on a Tuesday, not a high traffic time for just about any restaurant and it was fairly empty. I hope that was just the date/time and that Taberna is packed most of the time - because it deserves it."
Dined on 4/22/2013
The food was absolutely terrific.
The service was slow at best and inept at worst. We had a reservation for 6pm for four in order to make an 8pm show at a theater ten minutes away but did not depart the restaurant until 8:30pm."
Dined on 4/5/2013
A real gem in Bridgeport. One of
the best places to eat in Fairfield county with a solid fresh seafood menu along with pasta and tapas. Nice wine list to compliment their menu."
Dined on 4/14/2013
Found this place on Zagat. You can
choose from either Spanish or Italian inspired meals. Food was great, we had empanadas for an appetizer and the classic paella for two. Then the flan for dessert. Will definitely go back. Nice list of Spanish Rioja wines too."
