Taberna is my new "go to" place in Bridgeport. The restaurant is a real gem with an interesting wine list and fabulous cuisine. The fish I had was outstanding as were all the dishes served to our party which included pasta, lamb stew and chicken. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Taberna!

What a great find...an exceptional little restaurant in, of all places, Bridgeport. We decided to try the place after reading a few positive comments. My wife met me at the train from the city and we wandered off to a pleasant working-class neighborhood a couple of minutes from the station. We had the seafood paella, and it was great. Anchovies for appetizers. Nice house Malbec and a terrific white-wine Sangria. The place was well appointed and friendly with a bar, a dining room and a patio. We were there at 8 pm on a Friday, but it wasn't at all crowded. The owner came by several times. The whole staff was attentive and helpful. A charming spot. And we're telling our friends.

Once again we had a delightful dining experience at Taberna. The food, representing the best of the Mediterranean/South American traditions, was well presented and delicious. Hospitable, gracious and efficient best describes the service. To my taste it is of the best food in Fairfield County.

As always I enjoyed Taberna almost more than any other place in Fairfield County. If it weren't hidden away in a corner of Bridgeport it would be crowded every night, instead of mostly Friday and Saturday. The food, Spanish with a splash of Italian, is as good as you will get anywhere and the attention of the owner/manager is remarkable. All seafood is excellent, and this time the grilled Calamari appetizer was extraordinary. One of my guests pronounced the seafood risotto "the best I have ever had." So kudos to Taberna!

The food, environment and service was good. It was a very nice experience for my girlfriend and I (It was our 2 year anniversary), but regardless - I am rating the experience fair as I was double charged for my experience. I've called and apparently I have to wait a week just to get my account refunded. For an supposed upscale resturaunt, I find the customer service to be lacking. Overall, this put a wrench in my experience. Will most likely update this review if/when the matter is resolved depending on how the issue is resolved, but for now - this is where I stand.

We were in Bridgeport to see music at the Klein Auditorium so researched dinner options. Didn't have high expectations because not familiar with Bridgeport restaurant scene..We were pleasantly surprised! This little neighborhood gem has fantastic food and warm and friendly service. The menu is quite extensive and we had a number of different tapas and small dishes and all were delicious, flavorful and fresh.

One of our favorite restaurants, with outstanding food and careful attention from the man in charge. It needs to be better known and appreciated, but it is also wonderful to be able to eat in a quiet environment from time to time. We are never dissatisfied at this restaurant. Fish is always excellent, lamb stew a wonder and the stylish-style tapas very reliable. This time around there were two new servers, who were quite charming but a rough edge or two and need a bit more training. Go there!

The food is the star here and I was able to forgive any minor shortcoming because of it. The wine list was solid and more resonably priced than the food. The prices are very high, especially given the area which will keep this spot from being a regular stop for us, but for Christmas dinner this was a great choice. The service could be better, while everyone was very nice there seemed to be a lack of experience overall. Will return next Christmas if they are open again.

This is a lovely small restaurant with a friendly chef/owner who sincerly cares about givng you an enjoyable experience. The owner recommended a wine to me which I didn't particularly care for but certainly I would not complain to the chef about. I guess he noticed my expressions and sincerely offered me to select a different bottle of wine even though the other was just opened and not spoiled. The food coming out of the kitchen had a "clean taste" to it, not overloaded with spices. We just loved to ceviche.

When we were seated, we immediately ordered a bottle of wine. A few minutes later we ordered our food and asked that our entree and appetizers be brought out at the same time. We told our server we had a limited time to eat, and needed to leave in an hour. We were told this would not be an issue. 15 minutes later, we were told our wine choice was "sold out" and we were given a different bottle. Appetizers we did not order were brought to us because our choices were "sold out" TWENTY FIVE minutes after our appetizers were brought out and 45 minutes after we ordered dinner, we were informed that one of our entree choices was sold out. We reminded our server we had to leave soon and he said it wasn't his problem. Never again will we eat here

OK so Bridgeport is not exactly known as a gastronomic capitol, and not necessarily a place that one would think of if having a "where shall we dine tonight?" discussion. But Taberna is worth the trek into the North End of Bridgeport, and is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is no other way to describe the food but outstanding. The pasta dishes are all made fresh on the premises, and the sauces that accompany them are made to order as well. Particularly fabulous are the Ricotta Gnocchi - so light, and covered in the tastiest Bolognese you can imagine. We also tried the Veal Marsala (one caveat is that the "dairy-free" menu options are limited, and this happened to be one of the few) and it was also outstanding. Go!

The staff is very friendly and personable, but they do often seem a bit discombobulated at time. Three different staff people asked to take our drink order after we had been sitting for what I considered an overly long time. Two of our party ordered tapas as our entrée but they were delivered as appetizers. I give them some allowance because it was a busy night with one big table, but still it should have been better service.

We're long-time patrons of Taberna, and glad to see it's thriving (and now on OpenTable). Taberna's owner, Daniel, will always ensure your stay top-notch and memorable. As many have mentioned, this is a great find in Bridgeport, tucked away in a spot you'd never expect a restaurant to be. Don't fear the address. Dishes not to miss include the ceviche appetizer, seafood paella, lamb stew, or any special. There are a few dishes that are typically Italian (the pastas), but Taberna puts a fresh Mediterranean spin on them. We've never had anything but a top-notch meal here. Start with their fresh-baked rolls, trust Daniel to pick a wine for you, and enjoy your evening.

We chose to eat at Taberna because we had an event in Bridgeport with friends. I checked it out on line and it looked interesting and had some rave reviews. When we dined there it was an excellent experience food-wise: all the dishes were well-prepared, tasty and generous. We couldn't believe this gem in an unlikely location in Bridgeport! It's a find. The only short-coming is that the server seemed overwhelmed as the crowd grew and the end of our meal was served slowly and in some disarray. It took a while to get the check and pay.

Taberna is excellent all around. The food, service, value, and atmosphere are all equivalent to or exceed other choices in the area. The food was freshly prepared, and of excellent quality. The service was friendly and highly attentive. Parking off-street was an unexpected bonus on Madison Avenue in a primarily residential area. The outdoor patio and open-air bar provided a great place for a pre-dinner drink! Visit Taberna! You will not be disappointed.
