A word from Tabella at Clear Creek
Tabella at Clear Creek is the culinary brainchild of entrepreneur David Skinner and Creative Director Coco Hogue. David and Coco wanted to create a beautiful and intimate restaurant to compliment Clear Creek Winery and Resort. What transpired from a simple idea has guests raving about the modern food, intimate atmosphere, and of course the award-winning wines.

Tabella features an ever-changing thematic menu drawing inspiration from the bounty of the seasons. Tabella’s own gardens and farm provide the restaurant with a seasonal harvest of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and eggs. Working with personally selected farmers, ranchers, cheesemakers, and fishermen. Coco creates three to seven course dinners using only the freshest and finest local ingredients. In addition to the chef’s tasting menu guests can enjoy an inventive selection of small and large plates featuring organic local meats and seafood as well as vegetarian and gluten free dishes.

  • "The staff at Tabella was great Marie filled my husbands water glass every time it was 1/2 full. The food was served in a timely manner, very attentive wait staff. i am not a wine drinker so i was given the opportunity to sample some different wines until i found the one i liked this gesture was greatly appreciated. the chef and sous chef billy were awesome and very informative about the restaurant and also gave my husband tips on cooking the perfect lamb. the portion size was small which is what i expected after reading other reviews online, however if you're a person who watches master chef, hells kitchen and all the other "gourmet cooking" shows on TV you know that the fancier the restaurant the smaller the portions. "

  • "Dined here several times before and all the courses every time were home runs. No complaints about any of them. Was disappointed when we got there and found out Chef Hogue was no longer there. Went downhill from there. The salad was very good. The bacon wrapped asparagus was charred, a polite way of saying burnt. The seafood course, one scallop, was good. The chicken course just okay. There was a choice of two desserts and both were foul balls. The zucchini "muffin" was dry and the chocolate tart was bland, left most of it. There was another course in there somewhere but can't remember what it was. Even with a Groupon, the prices are too high for mediocre."

  • "Don't do it, don't do it! Don't waste your time or your money. This was not our first visit but it will be the last. The Ex Chef Coco is gone & you can tell the difference with the food. It was very deceitful how they did things with the dining menu. We were asked to select our food courses but were brought other items b/c they did not have everything on the menu which was not stated to us. Poor business practice b/c that should be stated when you take the order. It took forever to get served 4 tiny courses (1.5 hrs) & the food didn't taste the same. The previous tastings we did were always great which is why we went back but never again! "

  • "My husband and I arrived for 7:00 reservations and were promptly sat. We then waited 30 minutes for someone to come take our order. At least we had gotten water so we weren't left to be parched in a desert waste land. We placed our order and were told that they were out of the dishes we wanted. Yes, they had sold out of two of the four main courses by 7:30. So we decided to leave. The manger approached and asked why we were leaving, we explained why and he was completely unapologetic and blasé. And he had the temerity to say that we were the last seating - what did we expect? A 7:00 last seating on Saturday? Really? We won't be going back and if you decide go there, go at your peril. Do not expect the food you want or decent service."

  • "We completely enjoyed our dining experience and our six course meal. While this restaurant is expensive we felt we got our monies worth. This is a very small establishment with very personalized service. My wife and I were able to talk and enjoy our evening out and have a true date night. There are not many restaurants anymore in my opinion that have this relaxed romantic setting. We will be going back. The blackberry wine was incredible. FYI, my understanding is there is a coupon on Groupon that will save you substantial money."

  • "We used a groupon for a six course tasting menu and even though each course's serving portion was small, by the end we were stuffed. Our server, Alex, was very attentive and knowledgeable without being overly solicitous. The food and wine pairings were really wonderful and it was fun to try to guess which wine it was based on the flavor. If you are a foodie or like wine, this is a great place. We also stayed at the Clipper House and we really loved the "eat, stay, play" options."

  • "The food was great, but the prices and the portion sizes left us wondering if we'll go back. The menus on the various websites aren't what we received when we arrived, our only choices were the 3 and 5 course traditional menu, for $59 and $79 each. We chose the 3 course, primarily because my wife and I don't eat a lot and always take home food from restaurants. Not this time, we actually left hungry - that's the first time that has ever happened to me. It's one thing to leave hungry, but it's another thing to realize you are still hungry after dessert..Not like you can order another 3 or 5 courses at that point. Ended up spending $200 including tip with 3 glasses of wine, and had to pick up some ice cream on the way home!"

  • "The food was very good. The chef was super nice and professional. Unfortunately we were ignored half the time. I think they were short one server, as there was no server assigned to our table. All the other tables around us got a lot of attention. Even though we arrived first even one around us received their food and drinks first. The Chef, manager, and both servers assisted at times, but we often waited at least 20 minutes or flag someone down between courses. It took 2 1/2 hrs to complete the meal."

  • "We made reservations based on the Traditional Menu offerings of the "Today's Menu" on the restaurant's web page only to find that none of the items I was interested in ordering were available that night. I wont comment too much on the 1st three courses since they were not items I would have chosen from a larger menu. My wife enjoyed all her dishes. We both had potatoes that accompanied our fish but they were just cut rectangles without any real flavor. Now I was surprised how good the house Pinot Grigio and the Chocolate Raspberry Port were. They were excellent and will probably go by the winery to buy some to take home. The only course I liked was the desert; especially when combined with the port."

  • "It may have been an off night for the kitchen, but the food did not merit the premium price charged. We had the four course meal for two with one wine pairing and the tab was $200 with tip. Be aware that the prices are higher and the choices fewer than the menu posted on their web site. The highlight of the meal were both of the salads. My lamb with pineapple entrée tasted as if it were cooked ahead and sat in the kitchen awhile before being served just barely warm. My partner’s fish was simply grilled, but like the lamb, the preparation uninspiring. The wines were decent but at the equivalent of $60 per bottle you would expect as much. Service was friendly but very little else at Tabella lived up to expectations."

  • "The restaurant only has a few tables, so reservations are critical. The food is farm to table and the freshness is evident. I had the pear maple salad, and blackberry chicken. Both were excellent. The cake for dessert was also outstanding. My only comment is the service was slow, particularly for a restaurant of its size. There were times our server seemed to be actively avoiding our table of 4. I am a native English speaker but my 3 friends were visiting from another country and were not native speakers. Perhaps that made our server uncomfortable? In any case, I left slightly embarrassed because I had hoped for top notch service and instead we had to try very hard to get our server's attention."

  • "We went to Tabella Saturday night. Overall, the dishes were delicious and simple. The Kale Caesar Salad, Tomato Basil Soup, Bacon Asparagus Bundles, Shrimp Diablo, flourless dark chocolate cake and creme brulee cheesecake were absolutely delectable. Our main courses were good, but not as good as the 1st, 2nd and 4th courses. We had the Mahi Mahi and Lamb dishes and I think that perhaps we just chose incorrectly. The wine pairings were good, but after speaking with the women upstairs in the tasting room, it appears that we weren't necessarily given the correct wine for each dish. That is something that needs improvement. Overall, our server, the food, the wine and the atmosphere were terrific and the tasting room was great. Highly recommend."

  • "Everything was as great as the previous weekends 5 course with the exception of the 4 totally burned shrimp diablos. When that amount of money is spent on food everything should be quality checked before served. Error on chef and error on server who new the presentation wasn't correct. Provided an extra cheese cake for the error, but, again that shouldn't of happened anyway."

  • "The head chef was away in California. The food was good but fell short of fine dining. The kale salad lacked some ingredient(s) to make it special. The pickled squash (?) side dish was too sour. The single crab cake were nice but very small for a main course. I don't need 'Texas-sized' courses but the cake was small. The cheese cake was good. I had a glass of pinot noir which was very good. The staff were nice, the ambience was pleasant and the setting was romantic but that was perhaps because there were not many diners. The restaurant has great potential and I will give it another try. A fine dining venue is the vicinity of Seabrook/Kemah is desperately needed. I hope the best for Tabella."

  • "We had dinner reservations at 5:00pm on a Wednesday night. We did use our Groupon coupon for a 4 course meal. When the waiter was notified that we would be using a Groupon coupon (per the Groupon instructions) our menu was traded out for a different, very simple menu. The selections were okay, but the serving sizes were small. My first course, a kale salad, was fresh, but very simple. The appetizer (asparagus) was very good (could have made a meal of it.) I choose fish as my main course and it was too dry (other reviewers said the same.) The dessert I had was cheesecake and was very good. As I said, the serving sizes were small but perhaps if bread was offered while we waited for our meal this would have filled us up a tad."

I felt like the prices were reasonable, but the menu was uninspired. Lamb was a highlight. The sides needed serious attention. I doubt we'll be back unless we see reviews that indicate they have picked up their game a bit. (Or perhaps dead of winter is the wrong time to explore a Farm to Table place??)"
