  • "I came here as a second choice from Pican, the menu selection was a lot better. We felt rushed by the staff to order and eat. My fiancé said it felt like they did everything but pick us up and throw us out. We booked the reservation, but it appeared we were a bother. The food was good, they served my fiance to pieces of small steak instead of 12oz. Good food over all"

  • "I've heard some pretty good things about T-Rex and have wanted to try it for awhile. The service was good and the atmosphere is fun and open with delicious drinks. Try and sit upstairs, the large windows and big chairs provide for a relaxing time. I want to go back for happy hour but will not go back and pay those prices for dinner. The fried chick was dripping in grease, its not hard to cook fried chicken, while the kale was chewy. Worst of all this BBQ restaurant had dry ribs, a BBQ place! These things needed their good sauce. Like I said I will go back and try the happy hour."

  • "I like my crab cake Benedict and it's ambience but the service is not very good. They didn't refill water or coffee for us at all and they gave the wrong bill and almost return our credit card to the wrong table. The waitstaff is not always present on the second floor and it took a while for them to process the check for us."

  • "I arranged an alumni gathering here because T-Rex takes reservations online for large parties. I did not have much time to look elsewhere. The server was nice, but so overworked that she forgot my child's milk and it was impossible to flag her down. Due to incessant whining by my toddler, I flagged down the host and asked if anyone could bring her drink. Everyone else had gotten their beers and the food was starting to come out by the time that her milk arrived. My toddler, unfortunately, had fries off of someone's plate that arrived first. Overall, the food is not that great, and the prices are worse. The guy next to me got a two-way, which looked like two half-orders (at best) of barbecue."

  • "The night we were at T-Rex, only about 1/3 of the tables were occupied. Our order, all sandwiches, took over 15 minutes to arrive. The servers were very attentive, just the kitchen seemed slow. This was not a problem for us, we were having a catch-up dinner with old friends so we had plenty of time to chat. If you're in a hurry, maybe tell your server at the start. Everything was very tasty. We'd definitely go back for another laid-back evening."

  • "Had both types of ribs served here. The meat was dry and cold. The side of beans (also cold) and coleslaw were simply awful. Service was friendly but place seemed understaffed. This could be a good turnaround story for "Kitchen Nightmares"."

  • "We got a table in the corner asked for on OpenTable. Our group of 6 enjoyed selected meals. The food was to rich for my soul and one has to indulge every once and awhile so no complaint. The beer selection was thin the day after Valentine's Day and the crowd too. So a good night for going to dinner. Less crowd equals less external volume for conversation."

  • "The appetizers were great but the main dishes were not. I went to dinner with my wife, my cousin and her wife and the service we received was awful. Our waiter was rude and careless, the food was dry and bland. It just wasn't what I was expecting. The manager tried to make things better by assisting the waiter bit by then we had, had enough."

  • "Went there for early dinner during the week, and had a good experience. We sat on the second level overlooking the open kitchen. Waiter was busy, so we had to wait to place drink order. Once he finally got back to us, we ordered drinks, as well as our entrees. The entrees arrived before the drinks, and the waiter apologized and explained that the bar was really backed-up. Food and drinks were good; my friend had the Crab Cakes, which were nicely presented with a side salad. I had the Pulled Pork plate, with mashed potatoes and beans (recommended by the waiter). It was all good, but when we finished, I could not locate the waiter for a take out box, so the hostess brought me one. Overall, it was nice, but I wasn't really impressed."

  • "I came on a Sunday afternoon desperate for brunch and was happy to see they served it until 3p. The host, Greg, kicked things off right by being awesome. We sat upstairs with a great view of the game. I was surprised by how good the menu was, not to mention the food! The home fries are delish and they spared no expense on the goat cheese in my omelette. My friend was thrilled with the grilled salmon po-boy saying it was grilled to perfection. I will definitely be returning to try many other menu items that caught my eye. When you go, try the beet salad (yumm) and the garlic fries!!"

  • "The last time we went here, we really enjoyed it. This time, not so much...The waitress came after about 15 minutes of waiting for our appetizer and said she just put the order in because she thought they might be out of one of the main ingredients (not a great reason!) and that it would be coming just a few minutes before our food. It came with our food. To their credit, they comped it. The jalapenos we had asked for on the side weren't with it so we had to ask twice. The dish was good, though. They didn't have the cold-smoked steak on the menu that had us so excited on our first trip. The food we did order was pretty good, but the cornbread was burned in the middle so half of it wasn't edible. Not chomping at the bit for our next trip."

  • "Waited 45 minutes before waitress took our order. Restaurant wasn't crowded, just understaffed. Food was marginal at best. They cover everything in gallons of BBQ sauce in hope that patrons don't notice the mediocre food beneath it. There are better restaurant options in the area. Wish we had picked a different place."

  • "Decided to try something different & went to T-Rex. There were 6 of us (including an elderly relative with a walker) and ALL of us truly enjoyed our meal & experience at T-Rex. The BBQ meals & desserts were GREAT!! (It takes quite a bit for me to say that, but it's true.) Although I requested that we be seated on the floor level (due to ease of access for walker), they have a lift to the 2nd level that is easily accessed by a walker. The service was great with lots of suggestions & the staff all seemed quite personable. We can't hardly wait to return!"

  • "I was really looking forward to this reservation, the pulled pork was very good. I also got the burnt ends hoping to be blown away, not so much. They were really hard and chewy, not much flavor. Their ribs and Brisketlooked good but did not get a chance to try. I will return to give those a go. The service was prompt, during lunch hour. Wasn't really busy was kind of surprised. Beware of their spicy bbq sauce it has a kick. Salad with your choice of meat on top looked good too. Beans I was really disappointed in I was expecting more flavor all I got was heat out of it."

  • "The food was good but the service was bad. We waited for a long time for our drinks and check. The server blamed everything on the "new" bartender. But while we waited 15 minutes for our check we watched our server try to open a bottle of wine at a neighboring table. She didn't know how asked another server who told her how and she still couldn't do it and the guest at that table had to open their own bottle. I know it is hard with a larger group but we had to walk up to her and tell her we wanted our check."

  • "I was looking for a restaurant that was open on Christmas Eve evening. This was one of the few places that was open and had room for our group of nine. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, several of the menu items were sold out. My husband and I ended up sharing a large order of the dry rub ribs, which I had never had before, and shared a caesar salad, upgraded to mac and cheese instead of potato salad, and an order of cornbread. Everything was absolutely delicious! It was more food than we could eat, and we ended up having enough for dinner the next day. The vegetarian had plenty of choices and was happy with his food. It was a little pricey, but for all nine of us, with only one alcoholic drink, it was less than $200, including tip."

  • "T-Rex was one of our favorite restaurants, and then, as we learned a while back, ownership and management changed. From our perspective, the food and service really suffered and we did not go back for a long while. However, we took a chance and discovered that the old management has been put back in place and our experience was very good. While the food was very good, it does not yet quite match the old days, they may need some time to perfect the fries, both garlic and regular, and get some great desserts back on the menu. But it was worth going back to check on the progress"

  • "I choose this restaurant for my birthday to make my husband and 2 sons happy with the many BBQ choices. But I am on a very restricted diet. I had the salmon and have decided it is the best dish in the bay area for my low sugar and fat diet. My boys loved their ribs, mac n cheese, corn dogs and beans. But the real treat that made our night, was the wonderful waitress Johanna. She was sweet, friendly, informative and very efficient. We will request her section when we return. At one point, since I had so many questions about the food, she brought out Ryan the chef, who was patient, kind and very responsive. Although there are TVs with sports playing, the atmosphere is bright and airy and relatively quiet. We highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Decided to give T-Rex a go 1 more time and we had a much better experience this time around. All of our dishes were quite tasty and we were fortunate enough to arrive in time for happy hour specials, so that helped price-wise. Only negative around the food was that their homemade potato chips were so salty that no one could eat them at our table and we had 3 portions of them between our dishes. The only other negative I have is the amount of smoke that accumulates in this place. I'm not sure why their fans aren't pushing it outside instead of allowing it to create an actual cloud on the 2nd floor. I have to leave my clothes outside for 3 days because they are so smokey. Would be nice if they fixed that."

  • "We had not been to T-Rex in over a year, and we probably won't go back again. Although the restaurant was only about half full, the service was haltingly slow, and the food was really disappointing. Spare ribs were much too fatty, and the side veggies (broccoli rabe and kale) were very very oily. Where did the cauliflower go from the menu? Our server was very friendly but didn't get the details of the order right. Overall it was a big bummer."

  • "T-Rex uses very good quality meats, and sides are very good. But "Carolina Pulled Pork" without a hint of vinegar-based BBQ sauce". Similar with "Memphis" ribs and ""Texas" brisket and "Kansas City" ribs. No hint if the special preparation of meats that make those regional BBQ styles special. Only the "one-style-fits-all" BBQ sauce in squeeze bottles on the table. Actually, pretty good food if you don't expect what the regional labels promise. Good ambience, available parking, very good sides. But just don't expect any authenticity to the regional BBQ styles promised on the menu."
