Diner Reviews
  • "Found out why everyone loves TBar! Menu allows for salads, burgers, seafood, steak, duck, etc. Something for everyone. Very pretty space, and very pretty people. Sit in the back part of the restaurant if you prefer it quieter."

  • "We were very dissapointed my steak medium well -was totally grey and well done. My friend medium was actually done medium well - little pink at all and over cooked"

  • "A local NYC find... Something for everyone here. There are lots of healthy plain options too. Also has a nice restaurant week option."

  • "Thank goodness for Restaurant Week, which offered a slightly better value — but T-Bar is overpriced. While $38 for a tasty filet mignon isn't out of range for NYC, $22 for a small mortar of guacamole is crazy, however fresh it is (and additional $5 for celery and carrot sticks). A tuna tartare appetizer is also $22. The selection of wines by the glass covers a range of grapes, which is nice -- but you only get one wine choice per grape. The bottom line: the food is good, but I only go when my UES friend wants a sake martini."

  • "Just a great dining experience! The filet was amazing!"

  • "Great restaurant. Very consistent. Really good variety of food so there is something for everyone but menu is not overwhelming. Good neighborhood place on the Upper East even though I live on the Upper West Side. And, they are always accommodating. No attitude."

  • "TBars is a good standby for lunch. Food is good, not great, but consistent."

  • "From the greeting at the door to the cheerful goodbye, everything about T-Bar was great: excellent (if pricey) glasses of wine, light and delicious appetizers, perfect salmon and filet mignon, and simply unbelievably amazing desserts. We shared the banana parfait mille feuille, the mousse, and the strawberry shortcake sundae -- so fantastic! We took advantage of Restaurant Week's prix fixe menu, so even with a 25% tip, we rolled out of there just $200 lighter for a wonderful meal."

  • "We are becoming a regular here. My wife and I split the T-Bar salad (quite good) and also a bone in rib eye which the kitchen sliced and was cooked exactly the way we ordered it: medium with a hot pink center. Sides of spinach and baked were also done well. One thing, the main dining area is very noisy, but if you are looking for a quieter experience try to get seated in the back area of the restaurant where the noise level is much lower."

  • "Good New York spot. Lots if energy. Very good service"

  • "I go to TBar once every couple of months for dinner. The service is always strange but the food is usually pretty good. The staff seems to turn over a lot. And the servers always seem preoccupied & have an attitude. This past expierence was not any different and a few things were off. We ordered a Filet Mignon, Branzino & Fries. The server returned with our meal within a couple of mins. This always makes me weary. The filet was cold but the Branzino was delicious (as always)! The fries were luke warm at best. It is an expensive restaurant - everything should be cooked to order. It definitely was not and like I said the service is always off."
    Dined on 7/29/2014
  • "The atmosphere was by the best part. The turkey was alright and the fries were quite salty but in large quantity. $15 for a club sandwhich is typical NYC.pricing but I've had better."

  • "This restaurant really puts its best foot forward for Restaurant Week. Three courses with items from the a la carte menu for only $38. The best bread basked in the city!"
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "Another enjoyable meal even though it was Restaurant Week. One item was forgotten by servers, but all else was super good."
    Dined on 7/22/2014
  • "Unfortunately we were there for lunch during Restaurant Week and the place was packed at 1:30! We had to sit on the balcony, not in the main room with a view of the street, so the ambience wasn't as nice as usual. Good value--3 courses for $25, but smaller portions. Food was good, however."

  • "T Bar truly is a neighborhood gem. Its laid back but elegant design, good food, and helpful servers make the place a definite go to for locals. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking, and the sides are delicious, too. Their banana parfait dessert is delicious. I will definitely be heading back."

  • "Such an exceptional dinner as always! Walked in on a busy Wednesday night and were greeted by a very polite hostess that sat us at a great table in the main dining room right away. The service was very professional, attentive and I have to say that it's on point every time. Some of us preferred their famous steaks and others fish dishes that were very appetizing. The menu is diverse and has something to satisfy every palette. All food came out on time and was delicious! Of course we had to finish with their famous banana parfait that is a personal favorite. CONSISTENCY is what makes us come back to this restaurant. It never fails to totally satisfy us from start to finish."

  • "T-Bar, which is usually a favorite restaurant, was just not there this past Thursday night. It was ultra noisy, even for T-Bar. Also, the pizza has been getting too "cheesy" lately without enough of a tomato taste and the chicken Milanese was dry and overcooked. And the olive bread, which is usually so good, had a chopped pit inside. I almost cracked a tooth. Hopefully, this was just an aberration. Time will tell."

  • "I absolutely love this neighborhood restaurant! My steak was cooked to perfection and the service was great! The Banana dessert is to die for! A must go for anyone in the area!"
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • "The server was apathetic and unfriendly, the food was mediocre for the expense, and the staff hovered constantly to grab dishes before we were all finished eating. The worst was, the noise level was so loud we were screaming at each other to hear our own conversation. Overall, it was a terrible dining experience and i would never go back. Too bad since it is in the neighborhood."
    Dined on 7/8/2014
  • "As much as we have always liked this neighborhood restaurant and the food, we may not return due to the unbearable noise level. Everyone shouts to be heard, making it worse. Noise reduction is imperative: acoustical ceiling, carpet, upholstery, etc. It has way too much "buzz"."

  • "Great food. Pleasant service. Not too noisy in the back of the restaurant. Foodwise, T-Bar never disappoints."

  • "Visiting NYC for the weekend and so many wonderful restaurants to choose from I was overwelmed. When I polled local friends tbar was mentioned multiple times. The food was wonderful along with a sheek yet comfortable vibe. Service was excellent and prices fair. I highly recommend trying t-bar. You will not be disappointed !"
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "I enjoyed dining at Tbar. There were many families and noise was moderate. In the past I found it romantic, perhaps the tome of dining was a factor."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "We brought friends to TBars for lunch, a mom and two daughters, 8 and 10. We shared the pizza which is always predictably good. We asked for the turkey club without mayo on plain bread, not toasted. It arrived with mayo on toasted bread. It was sent back. The Caesar salad was mediocre. Our waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time, and in fact, the service was less than fair--it was awful. TBars is a place we frequent often, so it was disappointing to have poor service and a careless waitress."

  • "Never fails! Amazing restaurant: Delicious food, attentive and friendly service and great atmosphere! And that's why we keep coming back for more :)"
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "I have been dining at T-Bar for years, but the food quality has really dropped off. My burger the other night was terrible, and my friend's steak was tough. T-Bar is a fun place to meet friends for drinks, but the food just isn't holding up anymore."
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "Dined here for lunch with 2 others. We all ordered salads. My salad was mostly lettuce and not that good. Much too expensive for what I got. Delicious olive bread sticks but not worth the price for the great bread. Much bigger and better salads across the street for 2/3 the price."

  • "My dad came to visit me in the city and wanted to dine in a nice steak house. A friend suggest Tbar and we had a wonderful experience. The food was amazing, the Steak was perfect, tasty and cooked as we wanted. Desserts were very good as well. The servers were very nice, friendly and ready to satisfy all our requests. The environment is very nice! And the prices are just right for the quality of the food and the dinner in general!! I would recommend it, We had a wonderful experience and for sure I will go back soon!"

  • "A go to place on the UES where anyone you're with will find something delicious on the menu. it caters to everyone (yound & old) and is consistent week to week, month to month."

  • "Great for meat and fish eaters Had the branzino which was wonderful good wine great service they always let us have the back room because its quieter"

  • "While I understand that people think a busy restaurant is a noisy restaurant, T Bar is TOO noisy. Gives me a headache. Food is good, so make it a really good experience by fixing the acoustics!"
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "Exciting, and vibrant atmosphere with excellent service, great food, and mild location. There are no 25 year olds here! This is a terrific restaurant with a very energetic vibe. Perfect place for a first or second date."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "Always a great atmosphere. Food is high quality and service is excellent. It is definitely pricey but worth it for a nice night out. The chicken lollipops and tuna tatare are unparalleled."
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "T-bar was recommended to me by a friend who is a foodie so I expected good food and service. The experience far exceeded my expecations. The wait staff were attentive and the food was outstanding. One of the best meals I have had in recent memory."

  • "Does popularity always mean you can't hear your dining partner? Well, this was the case the other night (Friday) and we're glad this neighborhood spot is doing well but we'd love it if it wasn't quite so noisy! The food is very good - steaks are always done to perfection, salads (albeit small) are delicious and desserts (when we indulge) are yummy as well. Our recommendation? Go early or be prepared for lots of noise."
