Sycamore BYOBDelicious and ambitiousMy husband and I chose the tasting menu available on Wednesday evening. The chef created five courses for each of us. We ended up sharing everything since we had a total 8 different unique offerings, with the main entree being the same for both of us. Some were better than others, but on the whole, we enjoyed his different tastes. We brought a very nice of La Remise de la Mordoree vin de France Merlot-Marselan.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a great value!Still an excellent value. The food was close to perfect- the service a little less so. Servers were pleasant and knowledgeable but the restaurant seemed understaffed-slow to take our order, we had to ask for bread, etc.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food reasonable pricesWent here with my wife. She was dying to try it out. We were very satisfied with everything. Portions were small which was a negative because everything was so good.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMService and Food both superbWe have been to Sycamore a number of times and each visit is as good or better than earlier visits. One of our favorite places to go for a great night out.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMScallops and Brussels sproutsScallops and Brussels sprouts to die for! Nothing disappointed us -- everything was delicious -- including the pudding with dates. Seating allowed us to meet some new people. Bring a red and a white wine so you can match the menu! We both did stuff that went with a Riesling. We will go back!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLandsdown GemSycamore was a great find for Mother's Day dinner. The menu was very creative and certainly several steps above the usual in this area. I had a lovely arugula salad with goat cheese, and then scallops over roasted brussels sprouts. Everyone I was with enjoyed the food. The service was warm and efficient, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. The southwestern suburbs can be a bit of a "good restaurant" desert, so this was a great find. I'm sure I'll be back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodFanThe food at Sycamore restaurant has been consistently delicious. I enjoy going there for dinner because
I never have to worry about friends being disappointed at dinner. Service is always top notch.
I love Sycamore and will keep coming back. This particular time, a colleague was in town and I
Told him that I had a great place for dinner. He was not disappointed.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an awesome dinner. We had an awesome dinner. The food and service were outstanding. Thank you.

The menu changes so I suggest looking online first. I m a picky eater and failed to do so and my options were very limited. However my other guests have a broader palate and choose the scallop entree while the other enjoyed the sesame crusted tuna. It is a little pricey for the area but the food is divine!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMstaff was very friendly andstaff was very friendly and helpful. no complaints. Good service.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Restaurant!Sycamore is my absolute favorite restaurant! It is so beautiful inside and the atmosphere is cool. The food is DELICIOUS!! Best meals I have ever had. It is pricey (main courses are 30+) but well worth it for a special ocasion!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding FoodMy wife and I dined here this past Saturday night. The food was fantastic. My wife ordered the scallops and I ordered the steak. We shared them for a bit of surf and turf. Very delicious. We would have liked to see a house salad on the menu. The service was a little spotty in the beginning, but I suspect it had to do with the crowd that was enjoying the restaurant. Highly recommend.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good. ThereFood was very good. There were 3 of us and we had the steak, scallops and tuna. My husband ate the swiss chard and liked it which is quite an accomplishment since he doesn't like too many vegeatbles.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMTender venison - best everTender venison - best ever had. Smoked haddock delicate and delicious. Scallops just right. Pork belly on creamy risotto great. Steak excellent. Interesting, unfamiliar and tasty cheeses and chutney & date paste. Five of us each bought the prix fixe meal and shared a whole variety of dishes. Brought along two bottles of wine. Very helpful service and talk with the chef.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food here was outstandingThe food here was outstanding and the deserts were decadent! Wonderful little restaurant!!!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC NEW CHEF!!!!The food at this restaurant was always very good and and pretty consistent. I had stopped going since the quality of the food didn't seem quite up to par. HOWEVER, had a FABULOUS meal this weekend. Even the regular items on them menu had a different brightness of flavors. The new chef is outstanding!!!! I will be returning often.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Farmer's Plate appetizerThe Farmer's Plate appetizer is always a must order.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went on a Wednesday nightWe went on a Wednesday night that had a prix fix chef's tasting selection. We had five courses plus complimentary tarts. Everything was delicious. Portions generous and able to be shared. Happy to see the restaurant busy during the week.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWill definitely go back andWill definitely go back and hope to have the $35 casual prixe fixe again. The venison chop was amazing and so were the scallops.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe like this place. The foodWe like this place. The food was very good and the service was too.
We will definitely go back3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed my diningI really enjoyed my dining experience at Sycamore. Can't wait to go back again!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting Menu Terrific!Love the tasting menu, great variety and always a nice surprise or two. Meal capped out with great desserts and a splendid cheese plate. Fantastic!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was spot on. MyEverything was spot on. My husband and I had the chef tasting which turned out to be an amazing deal. We shared two different salads, an appetizer, two different entres, a cheese platter, and two different desserts for $35 a person. All items were very good with the exception a a steak that was well done, ugh:( although the flavors were amazing, who serves a steak well done...
With that aside, we are planning on returning...3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMStill an excellent bet!Still one of the great values in the Delaware Valley, and certainly Delaware County. We had an excellent meal, and although prices have gone up slightly recently, it still is an excellent meal for the cost. "New" chef Steve Kozak (third time we have eaten with him)is keeping the tradition of innovation and excellence going.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMYumA group of 4 of us went here on a Saturday night. Had a reservation and we were seated immediately. The drinks mixers were hit or miss. 2 of us had the beet salad appetizer, which was nothing special; the mushrooms on toast were amazingly delicious. For entrees, the wild boar was perfectly cooked and flavorful, scallops w/risotto also perfectly cooked with interesting sweet undertones, venison chops were enjoyed by my friend but I didn't taste them, and my black cod was just OK, a bit too "fishy" and not enough sauce. For dessert, the flour less chocolate cake was very good and the sticky toffee pudding was amazing. Service was good, ambiance cozy with lighting a bit dim (hard to read the menu in the low light). Worth a return visit.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is great and theThe food is great and the service attentive, but it's pretty high-priced for a BYOB. We brought the wine but the bill for two couples was still almost $200 before the tip. I had a mushroom on toast appetizer that came with a sunny-side egg on top---very tasty---and 4 large scallops on a saucy rice bed. Deserts are pretty darned good, too. My wife had the wild boar, which she also liked quite a lot. But we were both struck by the price and relatively small portions; it's almost as though they're trying to be one of those pricey Center City restaurants which seem like this sort of portioning and pricing is "just the way it is". In that case, I'm sure they're trying to cover the ridiculous Center City rents. But Lansdowne?2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSycmore's new chef, StephenSycmore's new chef, Stephen Kozak, is fabulous! My husband had the scallops, we both had the arugula salad and I had the Wagyu flat iron steak. My steak was unbelievably tender, it melted in my mouth. My husband kept saying "Oh my god, this is unbelievable..." I'm sorry to see chef Sam Jacobson go, he was wonderful too but Mr. Kozak is a wonderful replacement. We spoke with him outside on his break, on our way back to our car, about our wonderful experience.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMPlanning a return tripThe food is delicious. The chef is excellent and personable. My husband and I both had interesting and yummy salads and scallops with an amazing risotto. He had crème brûlée for dessert.I did not indulge. It is a BYOB. Parking is right next door. I love the tin ceiling. We will go again and bring friends.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Little Gem!We really enjoyed our dinner at Sycamore. Most importantly, ALL of us enjoyed our meal. A member of our party has Celiac's and Sycamore was able to accomodate her gluten free diet seamlessly. I love that they are a BYOB and the mixers they can supply are delicious! I like that Sycamore is dining experience, more than just a meal. You don't feel rushed or pressured at all. The servers were wonderful.
While I would like to say that Sycamore is a Romantic spot because of its warm candlelight and sensual atmosphere I think there is a chance that depending on the night the space would be a little crowded for people expecting privacy. If you are looking for a cute and fun night out with your honey, Sycamore will certainly be a good option2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMwhat a great findFirst time going for us. Food, service and ambiance were excellent. We would certainly go back! In looking forward to our next trip there. It's tucked away in Lansdowne and is true gem to the neighborhood.2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful!Delightful experience. Glad we chose the fixe price menu which brought us a wonderful 5 course assortment of tastes. We'll go back soon!2/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the prix fixe withWe had the prix fixe with a group. We loved everything! Our faves were the turnip soup and the sticky toffee pudding. Thanks to Kate and the chef for a great night.2/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNEW CHEF. sTILL HAS OLD FAVORITES.NEW CHEF.

nICE WINE GLASSE2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the prix fixe menuWe had the prix fixe menu option. It was an amazing bargain. The food was delicious, creative and beautifully presented. The servers was friendly and well informed, but the meal took way too much time to be served. Rather than being checked on regularly, we had to ask for things like water refills, to have another bottle of wine opened. Overall the meal was great, but the service could be improved.2/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe flourless chocolate cakeThe flourless chocolate cake could be an Entree! The venison was spectacular, as was the tuna and scallops. Cod cheeks were good, although I have had them in Newfoundland and these tasted too soft.
What I most appreciate at Sycamore is that the vegetables that accompany the entrees are fresh and special. REALLY special!2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food especiallyDelicious food especially for the adventurous ones. Lovely atmosphere and service.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat BYOB!Dinner on Saturday night was GREAT!The restaurant was full but not crowded nor nosiy.
We had a small table for 2 in the window, it was romantic and quietenough to talk comfortably.
The staff were all very nice and knowledgeable about the menu as well as the new chef
We had a cheese plate to start our meal (rather then end it) and the selections were varied and the fig jam and crackers were really good
There are not a lot of choices for dinner, however we had NO problem finding something and both dishes were amazing
It was a great night,BYOB!!1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Sycamore, what a great experience! Food was fantastic. Great opportunity to experience
so many flavors from apps to dessert and feel comfortably full when you leave.1/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were great.Food and service were great. Had the Pork Belly and loved the crunchy exterior and melt in your mouth interior. The cod cheek with spaghetti squash was wonderful. We had the Scallops and the Venison and thought they were terrific. Loved the cheese plate too. Keep up the good work!1/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our all time favoritesOne of the best meals we have ever had. Price fixe five course meal was amazing and very reasonably priced. We will be back with friends!1/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond visit not very impressiveThis was my second visit to this restaurant. The first time was last year and I loved it. This time brought some friends and was not very impressed with the food. The Entree list was VERY limited. We got a cheese platter and one of the chesses (i forget the name but it looked like brie) was so smelly and it tasted like it was spoiled. The gentlemen that we were with left the restaurant very hungry due to their entrees being so small. I love the fact that it was BYOB but I think they were trying to make up for revenue by making the prices so high for the food. The printout tiny menu was not very impressive either as it was so hard to read. The ambiance is great but I'm sad to say I don't think i will be able to convince my husband to go back1/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful Dining in LansdowneSycamore is always a pleasure. If you cannot decide what to order, close your eyes, place your finger on the menu, and order whatever you are touching. It will be great. Promise.12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMService and food were excellentService and food were excellent - there was a very noisy table next to us and it was difficult to have a conversation.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AMGood but fell shortWe've loved Sycamore ever since it opened, but our recent meal was a disappointment; the food was good, but not up to the usual standards of "outstanding" that we have experienced every other time. I hope that the recent terrible review of NoBL isn't indicative of a more general decline in the kitchen (though I see that NoBL will be reopening this week, I imagine hoping that Craig LaBan will include it in his year-end revisits article). Will have to give it another try, maybe it was just an off night.12/7/2012 12:00:00 AMThis place is always fabulous. This place is always fabulous. My daughter and I love the prix fix dinner because you never know what you're getting and its always great. Furthermore, you don't have to make a decision about what to order.
