Food was well prepared. For example our pasta was firm, al dente, just the way we like it. Salad was unique with artichoke hearts. Service was attentive and friendly. Dishes were explained very well. We were happy with the overall experience.

We had a very good meal. The food was very flavorful, and significant portions. We really enjoy pasta, and SY offers real home made pasta. Their wild mushroom pasta was excellent. The New York Steak was a little under cooked, and not the best cut. While tenderloin with truffle sliders slightly beyond medium rare. We drove 90 minutes for the meal, and felt satisfied, but did not knock our socks off like Full Life Flatbread in Los Alamos, Bestia in LA or Lucky's in Montecito. With that all said we will be back at some point in the future.

Excellent food and service. Had the truffle pizza special as an appetizer - delicious! Pea soup special also tasty. Had the gnocchi/short rib pasta which was very tasty. One of my friends ordered the mushroom papardelle which was also delicious - I'm going to get that next time! Cocktails prior to dinner were interesting, inventive, and tasty.

We got his recommendation from a person we met in Los Olivos, and they were right! This was a 10+ experience in every way. Our server was amazing, and everything we had was beyond delicious. After dinner cocktails at the bar were superb, and every person who worked there had personality+! This was an experience, not just "dinner".

  • SYK is a great addition to the SYV!
    BlueMoonVIP
    Dined on 10/27/2014
The food is always delish, though over-priced; in a small area like the SYV, we are always glad to find another yummy place to eat and we just have to accept the prices. We would certainly eat at SYK much more often, though, if it had better pricing. That said, our salads and entrees were delish. My only other comment would be that there are awkwardly designed and furnished areas in the space that make it difficult to navigate, both for customers and waitstaff. The restaurant wasn't full at the time we were there but had it been, it was easy to see that some of this awkwardness would've been increased, especially right at the path one takes from the hostess stand through to the tables (and then to exit afterward or to go to the washrooms)

Everything we tried on our first visit had that extra caring touch that elevated it from basic to yummy. But unlike many other local restaurants, there is a true understanding of the ingredients and the choices are never just stylistic. Also, the fresh pasta is just outstanding. Our new favorite place in this area. Well worth a trip.

Each dish was very good, well seasoned and nicely presented. It was a great way to finish of a day of wine tasting in Santa Ynez and the region.

I was looking forward to dining at SY Kitchen for a long time and finally I was able to. The food is really great and the service also. The cuisine is Italian but not 100% authentic, I would call it Italian with a twist. It is very interesting and I highly recommend this restaurant especially for foodies. I ordered the pappardelle with mushroom which I was told is one of the most requested dish. I loved the ambiance as well. I will go back again.

The SY Kitchen was within walking distance of the hotel, a definite plus. We had the pasta with mussels in red sauce and it was delicious. It was complimeted by a sausage pizza. A very good meal at reasonable prices. The table next to us was occupied by people we met and conversed with one of whom was in the wine industry. Since we are in Santa Ynez for a wine trip our conversation led to the wine. The gentelman invited us to visit the winery he was associated with for a private tasting. When he said meet me at Fess Parker winery tomorrow I was taken back. We were talking to Eli Parker, son of Fess Parker, aka Davey Crockett! The private tasting was very special. And Fess Elisha Parker III, (Eli) is a truly genuine person.

We dined here on a Friday night at 8pm with our open table reservation. It was extremely busy and lively, as it is one of the best restaurants in Santa Ynez. It was mixed with locals and visitors and seemed to be thee place to be on Friday night. We started with the burrata which was great (have you ever had a bad burrata?) then moved on to the most amazing fresh made parpdelle pasta with wild mushroom and perfect medium rare and charred on the outside New York strip steak, sliced with shaved parmasean and arugula. They're wine list is obviously good, but their cocktail list is even better! A must go destination for any foodie.

We were in town for the weekend for a wedding and I just checked open table for an available table. SY didn't have anything at the exact time we requested (which I generally take as a good sign.) I tried the truffle special with their gluten free pasta instead of the pappardelle but that looked AMAZING. My fiancé had the ragu special with fusilli and it was gone before I even got to steal any of it. Special note: try the pea salad, it was AMAZING.

During our visit at Fess Parker winery, we asked for restaurant recommendations and were sent here. We were looking for a place to have a special romantic evening out and this was perfect. If you are looking for a place to bring a large family with small kids, skip it. The food is carefully prepared. So are the amazing handcrafted cocktails. The mushroom pappardelle pasta was excellent. Excellent wine list featuring local wines. Cozy atmosphere. You can enjoy a drink on the outside patio by the fire pit first. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We love this place. It is obvious a lot of care has gone into training the personnel on the art of making their customers feel welcome. We have been there twice for dinner and every dish we have tried has been wonderful. The two young, cute, Italian chefs are very visible and obviously happy to see their customers enjoying the food. Sitting at the bar is fun, observing the many steps necessary to produce beautiful, infused cocktails. The entertaining head bar tender is a whirling dervish that is great fun to watch. As you might guess, it isn't cheap. We look forward to our next visit there.

We headed here from Solvang to escape the hoardes of tourists. The owners are right there and involved. We sat on the porch at very comfy and relaxed bench seating. Menu at lunch was limited but they immediately suggested just what would work for our group. Every single vegetable was perfectly ripe and cheeses were at the right temperature to be at their best. The chef executed each dish expertly. Service was exceptional. Only reason for four stars not five is that nothing was totally new or inventive. Just really tasty. I save five stars for the combo of delicious and creative.

A friend recommended Santa Ynez Kitchen as "the best food in the valley". We had tickets to the Solvang Theaterfest, so we had to eat early. Our reservations were at 5:45 and we were the first ones in the restaurant. It was quiet when we sat down and the waiter was very attentive. They had several specials in addition to the menu items. They have a halibut pasta that was exceptional as well as the highly recommended Gnocchi. The restaurant got very busy about 6:30 and soon every table was full. It got a bit noisy, but you could still carry on a conversation. They want you to stay and enjoy your meal, so don't go there if you are in a hurry. We will recommend it and certainly go back.
