  • "This restaurant is unique in it's European atmosphere. There was an accordion and keyboard player the night we went for some lively entertainment. That said the pork schnitzel was kind of flavorless and the green and red pureed veggies unappealing. Other dishes seemed a little better - the big pretzel was delicious."

  • "Been going here for years - love it. Best German/Swiss food for sure but we love it all. Only reason noise level is moderate is the wonderful entertainment they have too."

  • "Swiss Chef's menu is full of variety. They can customize any dish to your liking. The food is superb and the service is exceptional. Let's not forget the musical talent. He man who plays the accordion among other instruments, is talented and fun. I love this place and would recommend this to anyone who enjoys good food and musical entertainment."

  • "We go here probably once a month now, not particularly fond of the loud music, but the food, the chef, the service is worth all of it, prices are not cheap but the food is fabulous!"

  • "The chef/owner makes an effort to know his customers. We celebrated my mom's 80th B-Day there and he made a point of making is special for her by singong German songs and telling everyone it was her B-day. She had a good time."

The entertainment, led by Fritz is offen hilarious, always audience oriented with Swiss Chef Uli's personal interludes as a great singer. The décor is seasonal, lovingly and meticulously tended by your hostes Judy. • "This is where I go to get an excellent schnitzel, good pretzel, and a decent streudel. The portions are large, but priced accordingly (a bit expensive). The waitstaff was professional and attentive. The food hasn't changed in forever, but since I go there so rarely, that's what I need. No ambiance whatsoever, so go for the food and have a drink."

  • "Parking lot valet only, interior decor didn't feel "European" more like a 50's American diner theme, but live music was entertaining. Nice to see chef circulate and the waiters were helpful explaining entrees. The food was okay, not spectacular. Cordon Bleu was greasy. Amount on plates was plentiful, but bland. Maybe due to night before Mother's Day, but large table of "regulars" next to us was very loud. Would try it again, but dishes seemed pricy."

  • "This is our go-to spot for German food. Authentic dishes with excellent service. Fantastic beer selection, festive ambience."

  • "There are plenty of French and Italian restaurants around, but if you are looking for great German/Austrian/Swiss food, this is the place to go. It's the real deal and made me feel I was in Switzerland. The Swiss chef cooks authentic Germanic foods that are really tasty. The atmosphere is truly Swiss with an accordian player and even the Chef comes out of the kitchen to sing. A fun evening with a bit of schmaltz."

  • "Surprised my wife by having our adult children waiting for us when we arrived for what she thought was our "date night." While the others were waiting, Chef Ueli and Rigo brought out fondue and bunderfleisch ! The rouladen was outstanding, great spatzli (yes, I had to look up the proper spelling !) and red cabbage, awesome fondue, etc. Other table favorites included sauerbraten, bratwurst, eisbein and veal cordon bleu. Portions are large so sharing is a real possibility (we prefer to take home leftovers for the next day). The Erdinger draft beer was extremely well received by each of the boys! The music was spot on, in many languages. A fun, delightful evening and everyone left happy . . . and full ! Thanks for the great time!"

  • "We always enjoy dinning here. The food is delicious, unique and authentic. Everything is always fresh & perfectly prepared, the pâté & steak tartar are a must! Chef caters to every guest as if they were family & takes time to visit every table while fulfilling all requests. We highly recommend The Swiss Chef."

  • "Swiss Chef has an astounding variety of foods that are authentic to Switzerland, and more important than the variety is that each dish tastes almost exactly as you would expect it to taste in Switzerland. There are also additions to the menu from other German-speaking countries, so even if you have a large party everyone will be able to find something pleasing. The chef is extremely nice to come out and greet each table to make sure they are enjoying everything. This restaurant is charming, and will surely be a hit for people who have been to Switzerland as well as those just curious about Swiss cuisine is. Make sure to try the fondue!"

  • "For being listed under German restaurant, I was disappointed in the veal schnitzel. It was just floured and fried. We enjoyed the evening, because it is a fun place and the food was ok, a bit pricey."

  • "People watching of the one-man accordion/keyboard/drum machine/ singer man, plus singing cameos by the chef, were worth the trip. The food came out quick because it seemed not very fresh nor cooked to order. Plates are almost $30 but you will leave full."

  • "I'm not a big review writer, so it's notable that I am even taking the time to do this! But I love this place. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and the service is ALWAYS above and beyond! WAY BEYOND! The food is amazing and the Chef himself is a gregarious fellow who takes the time to meet you, see if you are enjoying yourself, AND sing you a song!!! LOVE the fondue. Amazing."

  • "The food is always good....we had wienerschnitzel with rosti potatos this time....fabulous dessert of cappuccino crunch semi-freddo ice cream. Ambiance is excellent with Chef Ueli singing and playing his accordion. It was a fun place to spend Valentines Day!."

  • "The chef is one of a kind. Loves to come out and speak with the guests. Will answer any question you might have. I recommend this place if you are looking for good food, fun and at a good price."

  • "German style food exceptional. Yet price is @ $3-5 per dish above market. Issue was music too loud to carry on a conversation. Table away from the live music which never took a break would have been better. Biggest issue is parking. Only parking is restaurant lot which they charge a valet service. There is no need for valet. Would have rated 4 stars except parking brought it down to three."

  • "Celebrated my girlfriend's birthday by taking her to the Swiss Chef for Fondu For Two, which was lucky since it just happened to be open for dinner on her Birthday. The Fondu was delicious and so was the wine. Chef Ueli came and talked to us at our table and later sang Happy Birthday while playing the accordion during the entertainment portion of the evening. Along with Happy Birthday we were treated to 4 songs (Swiss, German, French and Italian) from Chef Ueli, accompanied by Fritz on keyboard and accordion. For dessert we had the special for the evening, Black Forest cake, with a Happy Birthday message decorated in chocolate sauce. Truly a memorable evening, a hopefully the first of many more we look forward to sharing with Chef Ueli."

  • "Our party of five (5) enjoyed the cuisine and ambience at this fabulous restaurant. The owner/chef was very gracious and came around our table often to check that we were doing well."

  • "This is not Swiss food. We have been to Switzerland nine or ten times now and these people know nothing about cooking Swiss cuisine. The Rosti was a wet, tasteless mess, the veal in cream sauce passable but without any flavor. They also served it with cooked carrots and way overlooked red cabbage. I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants to sample good Swiss German food. It was awful. Obviously, we will never go back."

  • "On the spare of the moment I found this restaurant on Open Table. A bit outdated but clean and quaint. Food was very good, flavorful, well presented, large portions and all tasted great. Corkage $12. Fun music making for a feel good evening. Great find and will definitely return."

  • "So much fun! Went here for the 1st time & had a blast. Fondue was yummy & the entertainment/service was fantastic."

  • "They serve authentic Swiss fondue and German food. Rahmschnitzel is especially good, it's breaded veal with a creamy mushroom sauce, served with Spätzle pasta, red cabbage and beans. The staff and the Swiss chef are very friendly and warm. Also, it was my birthday, and the chef played a song on his accordion to celebrate, and they gave us free cake. A fun experience!"

  • "Took some friends from out of town here (our first time too). Had a blast. The food was awesome and the chef stopped by a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. The entertainment was good to, my wife really enjoyed when the chef joined in and sang songs."

  • "The location looked a little sketchy, but once inside all fears were dispersed. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy. We were there for Christmas dinner, and they had a special menu. It was a bit pricy, but the portions were generous and the Saurbraten just melted in my mouth. The staff was courteous and attentive. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good German food, or anyone just looking for something different."

  • "Have never had a negative experience in the many times we've dined at Swiss Chef. Family owned and operated by the most gracious family imaginable - after a few visits, they greet you like family, too! Food and service are always flawless and the ambience turns a last-minute decision to dine out into a joyous event."

  • "There aren't many German/Swiss restaurants in LA but this is the one that I will go to when I need a German fix. Very well prepared plates, nothing fancy but good tastes. Only one complaint, the Swiss national dish Rosti (shredded potatoes served pancake style) taste like frozen or preprepared hash browns, nice and brown on the outside but not cooked in the middle, not bad but not up to Swiss standards, it seems that the starch that usually holds the pancake together is missing."
