Diner Reviews
  • "Food was delicious! the view of the falls is always a treat. A bit on the pricey side, I'm used to paying about 120 for a good dinner for 2 but we spent close to 150.00 including tip. And I only had one drink!"

  • "Food is high quality, inventive, and beautiful. Chef begins with amuse-bouche, finishes with a couple of house-made chocolates, and all dishes we've sampled in 3 dinners have been outstanding: most recently, ox-tail soup, lamb-loin, asparagus medley. Great range of wines, including many in the low $30's range. The beautifully lit rushing river is simply spectacular. The Roundhouse renovation is exquisite. Only problem: when we arrived at 9:30 Friday, courses came at us too fast. I know it was late, but with food that good, it's worth savoring it without worrying how to keep the next one warm. A fancy cocktail, bottle of wine, 2 apps and a shared main course, and immense cheese plate ran $150 with tip. Best restaurant in the area."

  • "I had looked and there was a lunch menu but we received a Brunch menu when we arrived. Lots of different, eclectic selections. This worried me a bit, but in the end the food was fabulous and the service was great. My dish was a lttle late coming out (2 or 3 min) and the waitress comped me a drink. Will be going back to try the dinner menu. I had potato latkes made with real shredded potatoes covered with the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten, and then that was covered with braised beef. Incredible."

  • "A friend and I tried Swift during restaurant week, and both of us really loved it! The food was delicious and presented beautifully. The wait staff was attentive and charming. Since it was a special prix fixed menu, I don't have a good sense of the prices / value, but I would have expected to pay 2X what we actually paid for an equivalent experience. Oh, and the view is just amazing!"

  • "Our experience at Swift was a very pleasent one. The atmosphere was relaxing and the view was so pretty. We went during restaurant week so we had a prefixed menu which worked out great for us so we could try a little of everything. Roasted mushroom appetizer not good, Duck was amazing, scallops were really good. The dessert i choose was AMAZING and my favorite of the night, I do not remember the name but it was a croissant filled with caramel chocolate covered pretzels crushed with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. The service was nice they didnt come around too much but just enough. I would recommend this place for an anniversary or a fun night out with a close group. We will go back once the deck is open and try their lunch."

  • "Natalie our hostess was wonderful. Friendly accommodating and gave us a great table!!"

  • "The day we ate at Swift, the "waterfall" was powerful and the water was bubbly and full. Great view from our table! The "amuse bouche" is always a pleasant surprise and the seafood sausage tasted delicious. The freshly baked breads and soft breadsticks were excellent and worth eating. We ordered off the restaurant week menu and enjoyed the flavors and savory tastes of all our courses which were served by our attentive wait staff. The wine pairing was very generous and went well with each course. We will definitely return for the "chef's table" which is a special 9 course dinner (chef's choice) offered once a month."

  • "I rarely respond to reviews, but this place was absolutely awesome! We had never even been to Beacon, and found the town, the neat location of this restaurant, the falls, the food, the service to be over the top. We loved it - and it was restaurant week too."

  • "I let my waitress pick my restaurant week dinner and I was not disappointed. Oxtail Tortellini, Steak with Creamed Spinach, and Chocolate ice cream was all amazing! The Wine pairings were 3 - full 9 ounce pours for only $15. Amazing restaurant week find."

  • "Swift stands out in an area with some great CIA chef owned restaraunts. My wife and I visited Friday night during Hudson Valley restaraunt week for the prix fixe. My wife had scallops and I had halibut, both were very creative, tasty, and perfectly cooked. (We were very pleased that 3 of the second course options allowed us to keep our Lenten vows.) As with many of the CIA chef operated restaraunts in our area, the porportions were perfectly sized. The wait staff was very profesional, friendly and knowledgable: able to answer questions about the history of the build and clearly explaining the desert options. The dining room is modern and minimalist; it overlooks a stream and waterfall in Beacon."

  • "We have been wanting to go to this restaurant for some time. We were in Beacon around dinner time and it just so happened that his is restaurant week and SWIFT was a participant. Lucky for us. We had a fabulous meal with a great view of the waterfall !"

  • "The appetizers were excellent, we had the mushroom and sashimi and enjoyed each immensely, we sent our compliments to the chef. The dinner entre was also very good, I had the duck (which could have been crispier on the outside, but was very tasty nonetheless), and my fiance had the steak which was tender and succulent, lots of flavor. We chose beer over wine to celebrate the St. Patrick's day weekend and enjoyed our choices. Finally, for dessert I ordered the blond coulant, with a tasty crust on the outside (but did not care for the soft peanut butter like inside), and rich chocolate ice cream with crumbs. Overall experience, we agreed, was very very good!"

  • "The Swift is quite elegant and it offers wonderful view of the water fall. The staffs there were friendly and helpful. We had really enjoyed our Hudson Valley Restaurant Week experience at the Swift. We will go back in the warmer weather for outdoor seating."

  • "We ate at the outdoor patio during the summer and finally had the opportunity to try the indoor Swift portion of the restaurant and were not dissapointed. Great service, friendly environment, and nice setting. Food was fabulous. Keep it up!"

  • "We ate here for HVRW and it was wonderful! From the amuse bouche to the truffle at the end of the meal, everything was excellent. We had a great table by the window (which you can request, but they don't guarantee) so we were able to see the the falls, which were flowing pretty heavily because of all the melting snow. Portion sizes were very reasonable;. I had read complaints during past restaurant weeks of small portions but none of us had this problem. One minor negative - while the bread was good (especially the rolls), it would have been better if it were served warm. The soft butter and salt mixture that was served with it were great. Highly recommended, we will make it our business to return!"

  • "Difficult to find, and frankly if I hadn't seen other reviews I would not have gone in! There is a small sign that is hardly visible after dark, we had driven by earlier so we knew where to park. Inside is beautiful, with a nice view of the falls. We were there for restaurant week so the menu was set. All of the appetizers were great, my son especially loved the oxtail soup. As for main courses: duck, scallops, and steak were all great. I especially loved the scallops which were cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce. as for the dessert: yuck. sorbet trio was horrible, one flavor might best be described as soap, and the cheesecake was weird, it came with a strip of fig fan belt as far as we could guess. What a sad end to a delicious meal."

  • "Swift is consistently excellant in all areas; outstanding food, unmatched location and view, and superb service provided by everyone in the front of the house."

  • "Service and food were very good. Came for restaurant week, and was not disappointed. The layout and decor were stylish and modern, while still feeling warm and relaxed. Had the duck, which was cooked perfectly and so tender. Friend had scallops, which usually I'd skip, but these were like butter-- delicious. Husband had the steak, which was juicy and flavorful. Desserts were inventive, well presented and tasty. Good wines, too. Looking forward to returning and trying more of their menu. Would've liked slightly larger portions but I realize that's in keeping with a gourmet eating experience."

  • "I've eaten here 3 times now and the appetizers are always better than the mains and the deserts. Not that they are bad. I find that their main courses (say, steak or scallops) are perfectly done--well seasoned at cooked to the right level of doneness--but often they're accented by tasteless or perplexing sauces or pastes. The desserts, though creatively prepared, are slightly more pleasing to the eye than to the tastebuds. Still, seeing that creativity in action is half the fun! A few nights ago I had goat cheese cheesecake laid alongside a fig "fruit rollup" ( my words). Well worth the trip."

  • "In spite of the windy cold weather we found the waterfalls next to the restaurant breathtaking. Couldn't resist taking photos. The ambiance of eating and watching the falls was surreal. Our server was exceptional. The timing between courses was perfect as well as his wine recommendation. Can't wait to go back when the weather warms to experience patio dining. Could also plan a Sunday brunch and enjoy walking and shopping in Beacon. Would not hesitate to recommend the Swift at the Roundhouse on all counts!!"

  • "Expected small portions because it was a special Hudson Valley Restaurant Week menu but we were pleasantly surprised at the generous plates! The food was outstanding. The restaurant sit cantilevered over Beacon Falls and the creek gave a spectacular show. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely go back."

  • "The restaurant was very unique , and comfortable . The service was very slow ..and the food was OK .. We had brunch , so it was nothing particularly special . But after saying that we would go back to try dinner ,because we loved what they did with the building !"

  • "Everything was great and I look forward to returning. I would like to see more plant-based choices. For a restaurant of this level, there should be a vegetable or bean burger option or several other choices for diners seeking plant-based items on the list. More and more people will be looking for this. Thanks."

  • "This place was great. I would definitely recommend it . The food is inventive with a creative flair . I started with foie gras which was the cold variety, and even though I prefer foie gras seared it was melt in ur mouth creamy. I would get it again. My dinner was lobster which was done in I way I had never seen before and it was great , it was nestled in corn bread crumbs. Fantastic! My husband had a steak dinner which was done perfectly. This is fine dining at its best. I'm going back at the next chance I get ."

  • "In spite of some of the mixed reviews we saw on line, we decided to try the Roundhouse after an afternoon at Dia in Beacon. It was excellent on all accounts. The view of the falls in itself is worth the visit but it was much more. The salad was fresh and pungent with an excellent dressing. Both my husband and I had the lamb loin and it was delectable. The portions as noted in some of the reviews are moderate. However my husband and I shared the salad and had our own entrees and were completely satisfied. The servers were pleasant and professional. Another aspect of the dining experience worth mentioning was the tasteful decor. All in all a great evening."

  • "Great food and beautiful view of the Falls but service tends to be slow. We've been to Swift many times because of the food but on any given day you might expect dinner to take 2-21/2 hours to complete."

  • "We made last minute reservations (my fault) for the Swift at the Roundhouse for Valentine's Day. It turns out that it was a success of an evening. Situated right on Beacon Falls just off Main Street and East Main, we arrived a little early and had a drink at the Lounge area of the hotel/restaurant. The decor of the lounge was warm and inviting on a cold evening, with a fireplace overlooking the falls. The bartender was very accommodating and suggested a drink for both my wife and myself. Once our reservation came up we proceeded to the dining room and had a great 4 course meal. The menu was prix fixe ($85) with wine pairing ($25 very generous) so a little on the pricey side for Beacon, but on par with the level of the food and service."

  • "Swift is a fine place for a long lunch. The restaurant is chic, parking is easy, the decor is sophisticated, and the furniture is comfortable. The views of the Beacon Falls are spectacular. The room is a converted factory with very high ceilings, so there is no noise issue. The staff is attentive, the menu broad enough for any taste, and the pace is leisurely. Our items were thoughtfully prepared and well presented. Swift was a wonderful place to meet up with old friends and play catch-up for a few houes."

  • "The food was not what you would expect. It was very clever and delicious. The presentation was also outstanding. Dessert was amazing. I will have to try more of their selections on another visit. Our server never missed a beat and the water and bread people were also very attentive."

  • "The food and atmosphere were terrific. . I had the fois grois and the lobster dish- which were both very delicious! The only real complaint I had was about the wait staff,. I am no sure if they were new but they felt a bit tentative. . trying hard. . .forgetting to bring us silverware more than once while food was served for the silverware to finally arrive. Also, the coffee/ expresso machine was not working and our waiter also took a very long time to come out to tell us. Our dessert was an "apple turnover" that I was very excited about . . however, it was undercooked and tasted raw. I know alot of effort went into making it . . I would definitely come back an try the restaurant again. ."
