Overall a great dining experience! I would recommend to anyone who wants to get out of the city for an evening and enjoy a wonderful meal. The people behind Swift seem to understand that it's the small things that count, which can sometimes be overlooked in busy NYC restaurants. I can't wait to go back in the summer when their patio's open and dine al fresco. The view was also awesome as its right in front of a waterfall. If you are going to this restaurant for the view I would go during the early evening as once its really dark out you cannot see the falls. The only thing I would say about this restaurant in any negative way is the service is almost painfully slow. My boyfriend and I were there 2.5 hours . It was almost an hour before we received our appetizers and then another hour till dinner. This is not the place to go if you have plans afterwards that are time sensitive. It said it came with sweat cream cheese and strawberries, well by strawberries they meant one which was fanned out like a garnish. It should not have even mentioned strawberries if it was only going to come with one. One of the reasons I ordered it is because it said strawberries when I asked the waiter where the strawberries were he pointed to the one and said, "Here are the strawberries." So if you are thinking of ordering something because it has strawberries or some other fruit you may want to make sure first it comes with more than one.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMrelaxed and refinedThe menu was simple and ably prepared. The atmosphere and view are top notch. It feels both peaceful and invigorating with rich woods, smooth lines and lively falls. The staff are knowledgeable and charming. However, we went for Brunch; I ordered French Toast which the menu said was served with cream cheese and strawberries, but the fr. toast arrived only with syrup --- I didn't want to take the time to send it back to the kitchen.
Also, the menu is a bit odd. We've eaten here for dinner also, and there are no salads on the menu. There were no vegetables
with my entree (fish) and no vegetable "sides" were on the menu. The Brunch menu lists quite a few entrees, but again, no salads.
The desserts we had were good; but the menu can be misleading. I only spied it on another reviewer's comments. Since Swift is new, I will not hold the lack of clarify against them. I had the buccatini which is my favorite pasta. The portion was just enough but bear in mind that I am only 5' tall. A larger individual might need more food. Serving size aside, the dish was beautifully season with exquisite subtle seasonings. We were seated by the window which showed the beautiful falls to their full advantage. Best seats are along the windows. We were at a booth along the back so really no view. Décor has an upscale 70's vibe. Hostess and wait staff were all very friendly and personable. This can be hit and miss in a nicer venue and we were quite pleased with how down to earth they were. We were there with limited menu but the promotion allowed us to try multiple plates and we were not disappointed. Good presentation and taste for all dishes. Some dishes were a little too sparse for my liking but we walked away full. Good selection of drinks. Husband was quite pleased with the tap selection and I with the wine. The new indoor restaurant is large, spacious, and has a wonderful view of Fishkill Creek and the waterfalls and dam. The food was excellent and portions were spot on. We weren't rushed though the restaurant was crowded by 7pm. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The room was quite for the entire meal though housed in an old factory style room. We visited Swift in the Roundhouse at Beacon Falls during Restaurant week -- not the easiest time to try a restaurant out, but they passed with flying colors. For a space created out of a large, brick and concrete former industrial building, the warm red of the comfortable seating as well as the rug and the lighting made the dining space seem welcoming. I Want It All to Myself.At 2:00 there was only one other occupied table, also overlooking the gorge. The fries in my poutine were crispy shoestring, and the chorizo gravy irresistible. The cherry in my expertly mixed sneaky-strong Manhattan was as though they plucked the plumpest, ripest one and Maraschined it themselves. Instead of neon red it was deep purple. I've had a Cuban-made Cuban sandwich. I don't know how authentic this one was, but I know how delicious: obscene. Don’t care for brittle, but the pumpkin seed brittle served with my pumpkin pie in a mason jar was a nice touch. Life on Mars by David Bowie played softly from near the bar as I finished it. Hard to imagine a better setting. You can do yoga here. We started with 2 delightful oysters followed by lamb which was not particularly flavorful but the presentation was lovely. The cheesecake desert was to die for. The room is lovely and the service is excellent.
