Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant was WAY too loud! We couldn't even hear each other. The service was fast but not especially friendly. I would not go back."

  • "We were here for lunch, and really enjoyed it. I had a great veggie burger and my friend had a salad. No complaints! Nice ambiance."

  • "The food was good, had a burger, fish tacos and The Boss steak sandwich. All were tasty and the drinks were good as well as the server was attentive. Had all the tv's needed to watch March Maddness."

  • "nice varied menu but everything is pretty ordinary--especially the fries that are included with each sandwich. If you ant to get a beer it is fine..but in that neighborhood there are bars with better food and just as good a vibe."

  • "Made a very last minute reservation (8:15pm reservation made at 7:55pm) and was seated promptly. Service was efficient, and the food was good. Cheese curds were tasty, my burger was great, and my friend polished off her roast beef entirely. very good! I've also been for brunch, and the beignets are delicious."

  • "I came here to meet a group for brunch and noticed upon entry there were a LOT of TVs around the place! Anywhere you sat there was a TV nearby. The food was good, and at the time I arrived it wasn't so crowded so conversation with my friends was easy. I would come back here again for brunch!"

  • "The restaurant's corner location allows those dining to view the city life on the streets through large windows and table candles. The food was amazing! The beer list is extensive and everyone can surely find something! The staff was great!"

  • "Our server (Chris) was great. The food is just average. Definitely nothing to write home about. Lots of beer choices."

  • ". This was the first time we were here since we are from out of town. We could not ask for anything more. The food, service and pricing was exactly what we were looking for. You have a great menu with a lot of selections. We would definitely co back"

  • "Recently enjoyed a great dinner after work with an old friend. The service was prompt and attentive - but not overbearing. We both have gluten issues so we were thrilled to see a gluten free menu (be sure and ask - it's separate and not necessarily provided when you sit down). The food took a bit of time to arrive - but, in fairness, it was starting to get busy when we finally ordered. The drink menu was nice. We were both happy to see a nice cider option (no gluten in cider). All in all, a good place to meet up after work. As it gets more crowded, the noise becomes a bit of an issue - but not overbearing."

  • "Had a great time and was treated well by the staff, even though I was a single diner. The food was fantastic and the beer options were excellent."

  • "First time at Sweet Water and I'm already wanting to go back! 3 of 4 people in my group ordered burgers and they were delicious! They were served on an awesome pretzel bun and with tastes fries, both sweet potato and the regular garlic fries. Our service was friendly and timely. Definitely will be grade back for more!"

  • "The food was excellent. Great portion. The waiter did take awhile when we first got there to come to our table. This may be because my friend and I came at different times. However, they could have been a little quicker coming to get our order."

  • "If you want a nice sports bar I would rate it 10. I could not hear my wife the noise level was so load. The food was OK but not outstanding. As our cab driver said "They must be doing something right they have been in business forever". Just not our cup of tea if you want to relax."

  • "Good food and excellent service. They have a great beer list and the server was knowledgable and adorable. I had the burger on the specials list with arugula, mozz, tomato, balsamic, and fried salami. It was everything I didn't know I wanted on a burger. The garlic fries it came with were a little lackluster, as we're my dining companion's sweet potato fries. The outer walls are mostly glasses windows so it can get a little chilly, but the people watching was great. Lots of TVs in the bar area which isn's my cuppa but for some it my be. Though beer list was excellent, it was a little pricey, but it was to be expected in the heart of the Mag Mile."

  • "I love just about everything about this place. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the beer list is extensive. Casual, yet classy, this is a great stop for food, even later at night, in an otherwise touristy area. It can be crowded, even on a weeknight. Lots of TVs for games, and it always seems like there are tons of locals here."

  • "Friendly service and a great looking restaurant! Need to add more vegetarian options to their menu though."

  • "I had an office party for 10 people and it was perfect - location, cuisine, food, and service. They made my function outstanding. I am still receiving kudos for choosing sweetwater."

  • "Awesome vibe and atmosphere. Food and service were beyond expectations. We are from out of town and had our children with us (age 5, 8, 9). Although, this is not a kid type restaurant, we were all very comfortable bringing them and they actually loved all the energy. We will be back!!!"

  • "My husband and I have a 2 month old but still wanted to do something special in the city. We were so pleased with the good and beer menu at this place that accommodated our baby too!"

  • "We were there for our pre-DIY Messiah meal and got served our drinks very quickly. Sis and I had VnT which were all tonic.... We were seated within about 15 mins which, due to the crowd, was fairly quick. (we were stuck on the Ike) Our meals were great and the service was good. I had the Chorizo Burger which was tasty (love the spice) but instead of regular fries, I think that sweet potato fries would have been a better choice. My fries were very blah..... sis had the fish tacos and said they were good. I like this place b/c of the beer list that changes/adds often and the booths are spacious."

  • "A co-worker and I made a reservation here for an 11:15 lunch the other day since anytime I walked by it was always packed. When we walked in, it was dead empty, but by 11:45 it was packed. Our waitress was great... until it got busy. We sat there for awhile after we were done eating waiting for a box and the check. Nothing I would hold against them - I'll definitely be back again. Just hopefully the waitress won't forget about us again. Food was good - but some of the things were a little overpriced in my opinion. A small glass of hot apple cider was $5, and a side cup of soup was $3. Side options for the burgers were great. Sunnyside Up burger was delicious, but I would order the egg over hard in the future. We'll be back again!"

  • "So glad I called for reservations because this place was happening! Very energetic / lively crowd. Great appetizers! Staff was extremely busy and did an amazing job asking if we wanted more drinks. Recommend calling ahead so you do not have to wait to be seated."

  • "Looking for a casual spot to grab lunch, dinner, or a drink while watching your favorite sports team? This is the spot...a welcomed and much needed option on Michigan Avenue, just south of the river. Has a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, and salads, and lots of TV screens throughout."

  • "I didn't have any sense that this was a sports bar from the description. Wouldn't have picked t if I knew in advance."

  • "Wonderful service. Great beers and good food. Some of their food (especially their burgers) are incredible but the pasta was just so-so. Seriously love this place."

  • "Wonderful waiter who was very attentive, but not overbearing. Able to get a table for the group even though the 5 & 5 reservations could not accommodate a late reservation for a total group of 8. The food was delectable and the champagne quite ... quite good! Thank you for a wonderful experience."
