Diner Reviews
  • "The experience was overall very good! The only factor that shed a negative light on S.L. would be the wait time for a server to greet us after we were seated.( over12 minutes)."

  • "Arrived on time for our Open Table reservation made 3 days prior and they had NO record of our reservation! Our waiter was completely disengaged! He spent NO time at our table and always seemed distracted. Never tried to engage. Food was ok, but not memorable in any way, other than we both said we wouldn't order what we had again. Over all quite a disappointment. They had better get a handle on their Open Table reservations! If they are going to offer that for their restaurant, then they should actually be checking them on a regular basis and putting them in their reservation book! Not only did they NOT have ours down, but when we were leaving they also didn't have another couples' either! Who knows how many others they missed that evening!"

  • "This is the 2nd time we've chosen Sweet Lorraine's when guests visit from out of town. It's a comfortable place, it's nearby and the menu has something for everyone whether it's food, drinks or dessert. Not overly crowded but comfortably full with a nice mix of younger, older and racially mixed crowd. Very comfortable and pleasant."

  • "when we arrived at SL we were told that there would be a 20 minute wait. we told the hostess what was the point of making a reservation if all it resulted in was putting us on there list of waiting customers who called in before going to the restaurant? the hostess finally agreed to seat us in the side room and service was slow. when we arrived home I chk the opentable confirmation. it said something to the effect that "we would be put at the top of there list". In effect making the "reservation" on OT is the same as making a phone call. SL shouldn't be using OT."

  • "Sweet Lorraine's starts your meal out with a fantastic bread and dipping sauce. Their menu offers a wide array of drinks along with food choices that are interesting and often out of the ordinary. It's a great place to enjoy a meal in a fun and lively atmosphere with friendly attentive wait staff."

  • "There is something for everyone on the menu; and there are always new selections for those who frequent the restaurant. Old standbys often take on a special twist for interest."

  • "We were floored by the exceptional service from all of the servers, including the lovely girl that was filling up our water, and the manager. They were exceptionally nice, funny, accommodating and provided superior service. They all had dynamic personalities. The food was also very tasty! My mom LOVED her ahi tuna salad and I had a tasty crab sandwich. I would highly recommend Sweet Lorraine's. The desserts looked decadent! You'll love the food and the service! Definitely a neighborhood gem!"

  • "Great food, lots of families dining at 8pm on a Saturday night but I just got reminded that there is a kids party place next door and they most likely came over after a party. Our server really tried hard but seems a little stretched on her table responsibilities. They need an extra person upstairs to help out with the just the little things like more sauce, butter or just any request to make your dinner complete."

  • "We've been back multiple times, the food never disappoints! The service is awesome and the restaurant's decor is fun and inviting."

  • "It was somehow our second visit to this place in 2 weeks. The food is good but the ambience is not that good. Very crowded feel with so many tables together and you almost always bump into other diners, even while seated. Getting to restroom is like conquering a maze. The worst part is the service both times. The wait staff looks pathetic, no smiles, always grumpy. Almost rude and feels like they are just doing there part and nothing else. I know that its always busy but they need to be friendly, at least appear that way.Very sad service."

  • "We came on Sunday at noon. All 4 of us had something different off the breakfast menu. Crab cakes were a delicious change up and the Breakfast burrito was flavorful. Shiitake mushroom with egg whites, spinach, cheese was tasty too. Will be returning to try out the lunch menu."

  • "I started coming here last January for my birthday. I invite no more than 10 people and Sweet Lorraine's has always accommodated us. The service is exceptional. I have no complaints. I look forward to coming back on my birthday as well the months in between!"

  • "Sweet Lorraine's has been a "spot" for years and still continues to deliver. The food is interesting and innovative, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere....although a bit dated, is homey and comfortable. I was there for lunch and the restaurant was a bit quiet, however, I have heard dinners are much peppier."

  • "I treated my sister to lunch at Sweet Lorraines for Christmas! The presentation of our salads was delightful and the food was delicious!! I enJOYed the awesome quality & reasonable price! We were satisfied and had a nice visit. My water glass never got below half full! I like being taken care of!!"

  • "I've been here many times before and it has gone downhill. The owners should really take some time to reevaluate the flavors of their dishes and do some tweaking. The vegetarian burger (they forgot cheese) was not very good and could easily be improved upon. The shrimp scampi pasta special would've been much better if they had simply added some Parmesan cheese. The big disappointment was the service we received. It was a special occasion for our 25 year anniversary and the waitress was mediocre at best. She was not around when we needed her, she did not automatically ask if we wanted another drink or refill of tea or coffee. She was not very attentive, and when you spend over $300 for dinner with friends, the service should be excellent!"

  • "I made reservations using open table to dine here and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. My waiter got the order wrong completely forgetting my wifes entree and was in general not very good. The prices are high, but the food quality is average at best"

  • "I made a reservation for two which was not honored when I arrived. I was simply put on their waiting list. This defeats the whole purpose. If you're going to be a part of open table then you must honor the reservations."

  • "This is my favorite restaurant! Great food, usually good service, & usually there's no wait for a table. I love the fondue, salads, pot roast, & bread pudding! I don't recommend a larger group. We had 8 & were crammed in the middle of tables. I was constantly getting bumped by servers with nowhere to go. I usually dine with one or two others & always have great experience!"

  • "I have been a frequent diner at Sweet Lorraine's, but this time the food was bad, and I won't be back. I had the quiche, which I have enjoyed many times before, and it was overcooked and nearly inedible. If a dish doesn't work on a given day, take it off the menu, don't charge $10 for it! Sorry, Lorraine, you've lost a customer."

  • "Great place for dining, but if you're trying to make a reservation I'd suggest making it earlier than you really want to eat…they get unexpectedly busy often with local patrons. We drove an hour as part of an evening out, with the idea of eating later than normal -- 8 pm and they had gotten swamped -- 30+ people still waiting to be seated when we arrived. They managed to get us seated about 30 minutes later.. it was a great experience overall, and they were very apologetic…can't fault them for being popular. Love the menu."

  • "We went to Sweet Lorraine's on the recommendation of friend. Myself, and 2 girlfriends were out for an evening at the Michigan Opera House, and usually we try to find an interesting place to eat before attending the show. We found Sweet Lorraine's to be interesting, with a good mix of patrons, and the food was as well, interesting. We had made reservations, so we essentially had no wait, the service was very prompt, and the prices were not too bad. Would we go back? We sure would, as I said there were interesting choices on the menu, and it was a challenge to choose which one to have, so that warrants another visit!"

  • "Sweet Lorraine's is my favorite restaurant for many reasons. First, the food is fantastic! Plenty of vegetarian choices, even for brunch, and if you are not a vegetarian, there's plenty for you to like. I've been here for lunch and dinner several times, but finally tried it for brunch this past Sunday and I can't wait to go back--the Vegetarian Quiche was great. The servers are always attentive and have good suggestions for beverages to complement the meal. Love the ambiance, the vibe, the decor. I feel at home here and always welcome."

  • "My favorite dish remains the salad (small plates menu). The poppyseed dressing is to die for!"

  • "Our server, Robby, was great. A little slow in getting our drinks to us and a little too quick with the entrees, which came up shortly after appetizer service. I would have liked my half bottle of chardonnay to have warmed up a little bit before my dinner came so I could have enjoyed my Sonoma Cutrer with your fabulous Chicken Pecan. It was probably the coldest bottle of wine I have ever received...almost frosty like a beer...too cold for my liking. Food was hot, nicely presented and everyone enjoyed their dish. No room for desserts. It was very busy for a Tuesday night...a little loud for our business dinner, but we made it work."
