Swan Terrace - Founder's InnHidden GemThe Swan Terrace is a secret treasure found in Virginia Beach. The service is outstanding, the food is delicious, desserts are fabulous and its good healthy food. Not fatty or greasy, fine dining with plenty of selection. Its quiet, the setting is absolutely superb. After lunch you can walk the grounds that make you feel like you are on some rich country squire's estate. Well manicured lawns, gorgeous gardens, great picture spot. I have never understood why more people don't come here. I go several times a year. The food isn't cheap, but the buffet price covers everything: soup, salad, entrees, cheese, fruit, desserts and multiple selections of everything. My husband treated me to brunch on my Birthday, what a great choice. Plenty to satisfied every taste buds. The seafood was excellent, and I love cheese so I was in the perfect place. The desert choices were unique, and I really enjoyed the chocolate fountain. We will be back , and will recomend it to our friends. The staff is over-the-top friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The food - well, where to begin - omelet bar; seafood bar with the delectable crab cakes cooked before your eyes; hot entrees such as steamship round, meatloaf, a chicken dish I can't pronounce, but can tell you was delicious; salads, veggies, waffles and pancakes; and I saved the best for last, but certainly not least, the desserts - superb - there was carrot cake, bread pudding, double chocolate chip brownies, cheesecake, parfaits, strawberry cookies, baklava, and more. Our waitress was exceptional, helpful answering questions about the menu, refilling water, bringing more bread, making sure our dinners were served as soon as the chef prepared them. The crab bisque was delicious as was the mixed green salad with pecans & cranberries. The wild mushroom fettuccini & the crab cakes were excellent. There was an issue with the beef brisket, very fatty & tough. The chef & the manager said they are having problems with the brisket. They pulled it from the menu for the rest of the evening. We were given a different main course & champagne on the house. The overall experience was excellent. It definitely was well worth the money! As usual our food and the service was outstanding. The hostess noticed that she was about to seat us near a talkative group so, without being asked, moved us to another location. Our server made it a point to time our dishes as we were ready. The food was plentiful and excellent. Our water and bread was kept replenished as needed.
