A word from Suzy Wong's House of Yum
In the 1960 film by Ray Stark, The World of Suzie Wong tells the story of a love affair between an expatriate American architect in Hong Kong and Suzie Wong, a beautiful high-end prostitute.

In the film, east and west meet in Suzie's house of decadence. On Church Street, two worlds meld in a brothel of epicurean delight – Suzy Wong's House of Yum.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We are enjoying the emphasis on small plates and sharing. There are a lot of interesting tastes."

  • "Great food and menu. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the food, flavor, and portions. Great restaurant. We will definitely be back for more."

  • "I have dined here four times and this will be my last. With each visit I have become more dissatisfied. This visit was on the heals of a fund raiser for NashvilleCares. Our otherwise pleasant evening ended when the 'Hostess" rolled her eyes from the bar area when we walked in. Her demeanor did not change as she seated us. I found Chapstix in the crease of our seat and mentioned that it must have been left behind, but she took no notice and went back to the bar to converse with her fellow co-worker. Our server Ryan, on the other hand was refreshing and did an excellent job. I had the "Sushi Roll" and was disappointed. Too much rice, very little on the inside. The freshly made rolls at Publix are far superior. Once a hot spot, but no longer!"

  • "The staff is very friendly and willing to please. (My first love). The food really unique and fun. (ok this is really my first love) . Overall experience was great. I have booked another brunch for the girls and I. Oh btw the enterinment was FAB!!! No bad seat in the entire place. and the drinks.....OMG on point not enough for you to stumble out, but enough for you to leave a GOOD tip! This was my first time but not my last!"

  • "This is primarily a tapas place where Asian food is served. There were a number of good items on the list; might be great for a big group with diverse tastes."

  • "Not sure our waiter knew much about the beers they served, but landed one of their microbrewery choices. Salads were very good, the Caesar and wedge were nicely flavored. I stuck to the standard General Tao's Chicken and my wife chose a Crunchy shrimp.roll. It was a disappointment, mine was not. Everything is ala carte, but with plenty of small plates. The crunchy shrimp was meager and not very crunchy...maybe it was the sticky rice that was way too soft. We're talking building materials quality here. We will come back to try other menu items, however. Service was fast and efficient."

  • "Suzy Wong's is literally some of the best, quickest Asian food I've ever had. Huge portions, shareable, and reasonably priced. You won't leave hungry for sure."

  • "Wonderful decor and ambiance, I love the dragon. The service was indifferent. He appeared unenthusiastic. He could have at least offered to refill our glasses more than once. I liked the potsticker appetizer-they were great. I had the tofu for entree and it only had about 8 pieces of tofu in the dish. My companions were more pleased with their food but we all agreed about the service. I probably won't be back..."

  • "I live 40 miles away and love to visit and bring friends. I have been to Suzy Wong's several times and it never fails to impress me. I try different things each time I come and have never found anything I did not thoroughly enjoy. I have always been with several people so we order multiple shareables and entrees. Everyone gets to try it all and is always a pleasure for the palate. Don't miss out in this one !"

  • "The food was good and plentiful, great for sharing. We didn't drink there as we felt the liquor & wine prices were exorbitant. The ambience was low-key. However, we ended up sitting in the bar area as the tables available only had little footstool like things for seating and no one wanted to sit on that for an entire meal! The bartender was very attentive and gave us suggestions and details on the menu items."

  • "Suzy Wong's has been around for some time not, serving dinner and late night goodies. Now they have started offering brunch in a fun and exciting atmosphere. The staff was amazing and friendly. The food was delicious and Suzy Wong, herself, delivered our fishbowl of brunch punch. My friends and I will definitely be dining here again, soon and often!"

  • "My wife and I had one of the best meals we've had in 7 years in Nashville the other night at Suzy Wong's. We had plate after plate of great-tasting, great-looking dishes, delicious drinks, and excellent, personable service. We left wondering why we hadn't come here more often—an oversight we intend to correct in the future. We highly recommend Suzy Wong's if you're looking for a fun, conversation-inspiring meal!"

  • "Our server, Matt, made great food and cocktail recommendations, and the bartender and kitchen lived up to his promises. We are still debating whether the Pad Thai noodles, Steak Skewers, or Thai Chili Chicken Wings were the best, but it doesn't really matter - they were all outstanding. There are several other items that we wanted to try, but had to agree to save those for our next visit."

  • "I really enjoyed coming to Suzy Wong's for dinner. The food was excellent. I highly recommend the chicken wings as an appetizer. I had to change my reservation several times and each time I called the staff was very nice and accomodating. The service was a little slow due to back-ups in the kitchen but they did their best to ensure we were happy. I highly recommend this place for anyone that is interested in having a good time. The prices are also great!"

  • "Had a reservation, but was not seated until 40 minutes after that time. I know it wasn't the hostess' fault but there wasn't an apology at all. I know customer service is dead these days and I don't expect it, but here are some suggestions that would have easily helped the situation with little effort: 1. A phone call to say our seats won't be ready on time. 2. A sincere apology. 3. Offer a free drink or desert. That being said our waiter was great and our food was great."

  • "Wish we lived closer because this is a standout restaurant. Great vibe. Fantastic food. Engaging service. Go tapas-style - our server made some great reccos."

  • "Hubby and I went for Valentine's Day. We were promptly seated. They offered a special 3 course dinner, but we opted for several appetizers and were not disappointed. The crab wontons were a standout. Great cocktails, our waiter was fabulous (wish I could remember his name, but he was wearing a cute bow tie). We will definitely return!"

  • "Secured the dinner reservation less than 24 hours before for Valentines Day - Weren't many options available for early evening dining so I 'rolled the dice' and went with Suzy Wong's - Was somewhat disappointed with a Prix Fix Menu but the meal was in no way a disappointment - Had a vegan mushroom bisque that was incredible and the Tandoori Chicken was a real pleaser! The creme brulee for dessert perfect in every way - For cocktails I enjoyed the 'Cloud 9' - A cucumber infused gin martini of sorts - Very good!!! Would not have been my first dining choice had I not waited to the last minute to reserve something for one of the busiest days of the year but Suzy Wong will be at the top of my list for I expect many return visits!"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Service was great. Appetizers- mushroom bisque was really good, scallops on seaweed salad not as good, but that's what I get for ordering scallops hundreds of miles from any ocean. They just weren't really fresh. Entres- surf and turf, lobster tail and filet mignon, if that was fillet mignon I'm a (fill in the blank) it was a quarter inch thick and well done. But once again that's an ordering mistake don't go to an Asian fusion resteraunt and order surf and turf. Pork chop with root vegetables was awesome. Deserts- hibiscus creme brulé was amazing and red velvet creme cheese roles were very good. To some it up I would say order what you would think of from a place called susy wongs house of yum and it will probably be great."

  • "Wife and I went there for Valentines.......Dining was an excellent experience....service was prompt, food was tasty.....Parking on the other hand was tough....ended up parking about 3 blocks away and walked (in the rain)......Maybe there was better parking closer and i just missed it.....Traffic was also pretty bad that night so I didn't want to waste time driving around...."

  • "The special Valentine's Day package was fantastic. I had a wonderful wild mushroom bisque, Surf & Turf, and hibiscus creme brulee. Suzy Wong's House of Yum is always highly recommended by me."

  • "The wife and I visited Suzy Wong's for Valentine's Day dinner . We were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Although the menu was reduced because of the day, everything we ordered was very good. We especially liked the the pork nachos. The atmosphere was pleasant and the noise level was low so having a conversation was easy. The place was busy and the servers seemed to have trouble getting the right food to the right tables but no one complained.we will definitely try this place again . Asian fusion cuisine is one of our favorites and we found this to be a nice choice."

  • "We were looking forward to the dinner... having heard from a lot of our friends the food was fantastic. Really, really disappointed. Everything tasted microwaved... veggies were over cooked... tortillas were stuck to the paper wrap. We won't be going back."

  • "We went on a Thursday evening for dinner and it was nice and quite. Our waitress was nice and informative and the food tasted great. My wife and I have always liked tapa style restaurants so that we can share various dishes, and this is the perfect place for it."
    Dined on 2/6/2014
  • "In spite of the noise, and even decent service, the food was extremely disappointing. They were out of several items & we had to change our order multiple times. After waiting a lot longer than expected for my wife's meal (a highly recommended special), they brought mine 10 min earlier than hers, she discovered the "filet" was outrageously overcooked - very tough & tasted like RAW MEAT!!! It was supposed to be Wasabi Crusted Filet w/garlic & ginger but had absolutely NO flavor. And the cut she was served was NOT filet mignon. Beyond the poor food, she ordered a Blackberry Mojito & found a BLACK CURLY HAIR inside of her glass AND inside of her straw!!!! The drink was replaced but no apologies were made. It was a major fail for Suzy Wongs."

  • "We dine at Suzy's often because we like the food. There are always interesting vegetarian items on the menu. The staff is very friendly and helpful - really wonderful people work there. When the place is crowded it does become noisy - not enough soft surfaces to absorb the noise. Overall, we are always happy to visit the House of Yum and have often taken guests there. We'll be back."

  • "I love Suzy Wong's, its one of the better fun energetic restaurants in Nashville. The odd and fun small plates are always a delight to try but everyone I know considers the "Wonton Nachos" to be the best dish in house. The bar is your standard upscale craft cocktail place, good but nothing special. My only complaint with the restaurant is that on multiple occasions I've had to wait as much as a 1/2 hour even though I'd had reservations."

  • "The food never fails to disappoint. My party went for Chinese New Year and the restaurant was packed w revelers. The hostess was poised & gracious while dealing w walk-in's, phone resvs, cleaning tables. We retreated to the bar which was also full of revelers. Even so, the bartender greeted us warmly, took our drink orders & swiftly placed drinks in our eagerly waiting hands. Soon after we were seated & our lovely waiter appeared, took our order & no sooner than he walked away food began appearing. Incredible! We ordered multiple tapas dishes which were incredibly delicious. Our table was full of dishes which as soon as they appeared w food quickly disappeared. My party absolutely enjoyed their experience as did I again."

  • "It doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that scare you off. A great hang out kind of place with unique food that was a refreshing change from the usual oriental fare. We ordered the lettuce wrap appetizer and two different curry dishes that we shared - it was delicious and filling - we had enough left over for lunch the next day. We plan to return!"

  • "We had a 3 course meal in less than an hour. We went for restaurant week, and they have courses that they do not usually serve like the filet mignon, and teriaki salmon. The filet needed some extra flavor, the veggies that came with it was not what was describe in the menu but it was ok it would have been better if they swap the veggies in the salmon to the filet. I also had the curry samosas. couldn't really taste the curry in it, and it felt like it was a spring roll shape differently. Also, had the shu mai, and that definitely needed some extra time in the steamer. The outside wrap was a lil tough The part that I really enjoy was dessert. the green tea, and coconut creme brulee, and the vanilla chai mousse was awesome"

  • "We met online and were having our first in face meeting in your restaurant. First we were sat close to the door on a very cold night, we are both slightly built women. We both remained cold the entire evening. Next the waiter forgot the soup that my date ordered and when I mentioned it well into our entrees he brought the wrong one. We ordered a sea grass soup and were served a mushroom soup. When we brought this to his attention he told us it was the sea grass soup. Anyway the date sort of flopped. She has offered me a chance at redemption but trust I will not take her to this spot again. It is fine for casual business or married folk dining but not to really impress with."
