Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I and daughter went to Suzettes for the first time Sun. 4/6. We were seated promptly at 10:30 am as per our reservations. We heard good things from others who had gone there. We were all dissapointed that this restaurant did not meet our expectations. Not good value. Small portions for the price paid. Service was friendly but inconsistent. Seemed like a number of new people maybe not fully trained. We ordered two mimosas and one bloody mary and were charged $27.00 for small glasses. The food was OK but my eggs with tomato concasse were luke warm. The quiche and crepe the other family members had were good but small portions. Nice ambience in a good location. We will try it again just in the event this was an off day."

  • "While we had never been to Suzette's, we had heard from all our friends that it was amazing! And the food was terrific. A high end representation of French breakfast. Perfect for the adults, not so much for the kids in our group. The restaurant only had one other table occupied, and we felt like we couldn't chat or be noisy.....the restaurant is not the best place for children. Though the kids were immaculately mannered, it was a long hour. The food took a while to arrive (and if we were enjoying breakfast sans kiddos, that would have been fine). While pricing is a little high for what you get, it was extremely good. This would be a lovely location for a ladies lunch or a baby/bridal shower."

  • "Maybe it was because Donna was not in the restaurant that night, but the service was just not as good as usual. The food was very good, but the menu has not changed in years - maybe it's time for some new items. We had a very nice dinner/evening, and will certainly be back, but we did not leave WOWED, like we usually do."

  • "Service is great, food is thoughtfully prepared in flavor and presentation. Coimplemented by exceptional wines."

  • "This is definitely a ladies restaurant, although I'm guessing a romantic duo could find a cozy table for two."

  • "I probably would have enjoyed Suzette's Creperie better if 1) we didn't have a 5-year-old at the table, and 2) I wasn't keenly aware of the prices. Normally I don't pay much attention to restaurant prices because I want to indulge (I've been known to spend over $90 for lunch before - don't judge). But... my friend didn't seem to have the same mindset AND I couldn't wrap my head around spending over $10 for a 5-year-old's lunch. And that kid didn't even like it. That's not a judgement on the quality of Suzette's. My friend and I both enjoyed our crepes. I did think that the formality of the decor was out of line with the casual service. My friend and her kid passed on dessert while I enjoyed a sticky, SUPER hot hot chocolate. AWKWARD."

  • "The service, atmosphere, food, and wine was wonderful! We sat in a window seat with high back comfortable chairs. They have a gentleman that specifically handles the wine order, the waitress was very attentive and pleasant, the atmosphere was very peaceful and definitely a place to go for a romantic date. There was live jazz music. Three hours passed without notice. It was a lovely place to go for dinner. I also, used their catering services which is phenomenal! Christine, their caterer, is a gem!"

  • "This had to be one of the strangest dining experiences we've ever had. We waited for 10 minutes to get a wine list; I ordered an entree, my husband ordered entree and salad; his entree came out very quickly and was served...to HIM. I waited, no entree. He received no salad. We questioned this and got a nice apology. Waited some more. My entree came out. We enjoyed our dinner, then after our plates had been taken and we waited 5 minutes after that, his salad arrived. We ordered dessert and coffee. More time passed...dessert came out. No coffee. After we finished dessert, we got the coffee. I felt like we were in some kind of time warp...it will be a LONG time before I go back to Suzette's!"

  • "Everything we tasted was delicious, the waitress was exceptionally thoughtful, the decor was lovely, and the setting was comfortable. And the bakery had double chocolate cookies that are so good, it almost seems like you're dreaming. Far better in every way than a French themed restaurant we had tried in Chicago. We will be back!"

  • "Suzette's is an unpretentious but lovely restaurant in Wheaton with a fantastic wine list. Ordinarily the service is outstanding, but on our most recent visit it was good but not enthusiastic and attentive, which it usually is. Food is always good, but for us it would be nice to have more vegetarian options on the menu."

  • "We have been to Suzette's many times before. With theater tickets, we did an early dinner. Service was great, with runners assiting getting the food out. But when we got to dessert, the resturant had filled a bit and service at that point crashed. Our server brought our dessert crepes 22 minutes after we ordered them. Two of the orders were "luke-warm" and one was cold. Having had dessert here before, we guessed that the order sat for a while waiting to be delivered. We sent the cold crepe back, canceling the order. The server then brought the check, never asking us about coffee. After reviewing the check, we discovered the returned crepes were still on the check. After pointing it put to the server, "Oh, sorry", was the response."

  • "Suzette's is one of those places I've been to occasionally and can't wait to get to again. It's cozy with romantic lighting and live music, with friendly hosts and servers who give knowledgeable recommendations. I had the beef bourguignon crepe entree, and it was just as tasty as I'd hoped it would be, served with a small side salad that was fresh and crisp. The sauce on the beef was perfect, with that red-wine tang, and the crepe was delicate and thin. The portion wasn't overly large, nor was it small; the perfect size to leave me happy after I was finished. My date had the pork tenderloin sautéed with Apples and brandy crème sauce, which was served with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. The French onion soup is a must-have!"

  • "The only thing less than wonderful was the snotty greeting we got when I told the owner we had an 8:00 reservation. Instead of a friendly greeting, we got "you and 45 other people". Well, excuse me! Maybe she was stressed out since it was Valentine's Day but a poor greeting from an owner. Otherwise, all the staff was very friendly and the food was outstanding. Loved the French-only wine list."

  • "I waited too long to make a reservation for valentines day, so I took a gamble on this place. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, and I suspect that the service was a bit slow only due to the business of the evening. A pianist played in the background and mixed in the accordion. The atmosphere was relaxed and very enjoyable. I would recommend for a very adult evening. The crowd was mostly 40+ in age, very mature."

  • "Decided to do something different for our book club meeting. Four of us each tried a different crepe meal, desserts and teas. We were all delighted with our lunches. We sat a long time so we could eat, catch up and discuss our book. We were not rushed. Had a great experience. Will return."

  • "This was my 2nd time at this restaurant for lunch and it is amazing. The crepes and other dishes are superb. Both times we were lucky enough to get to sit in one of the two table with wing chairs, which was elegant and comfortable. I was visitng with a friend, and we had a 4 hour lunch. The waitstaff was very friendly, service and food were excellent. The Roasted vegetable crepe and the beef bourgionon crepe are out of this world. The chocoloate mousse dessert and the bananas foster were also terrific!"

  • "My wife took her friend for her birthday. We have been there several times and enjoyed the atmosphere. We have been to France and this made us feel like to were there again. It is a very small place and even smaller bar. The wine steward knows his wines and will help you select one. The place is know for it's Crepes. And rightfully so, since they make the best. Price wise it's up there for dinner. Free city parking around the corner. And there is pianist there in the evenings. (not sure he is there all the time) Service is good but we have had a time when it did get crowded and they were short staffed. It may be a family run place so it's the family doing it all.... If not, it does a good job of making you feel like it is. Cozy. Romantic."

  • "Over the years I have taken three different ladies to this restaurant and it became their favorite go-to romantic restaurant. The service is a little on the sporadic side (slower in some cases which may mimic the French experience of a slower meal) so I would not necessarily plan a movie shortly after. We started at 7:30 and we were out by 9:30pm. It is nice that the waiters and waitresses know the menu and seem to have actually tried the dishes. They are capable of helping you with your selection. The food was delicious as always and the desert was fantastic (also made right there)."

  • "Love Suzettes! Great pastries to go (I live near the restaurant & stop in often to grab pretzel bread, lemon squares & Caprese sandwiches). Ambience is lovely...so comfortable...like being in your grandmother's warm & inviting fireplace room. Wine list is extensive...mainly European (obviously), but they let you try samples before the final pour. Food is fresh and unique. Try the pomme frites, stuffed shrimp appetizer and the daily quiche. Caveat: on the pricey side. Visit them at the Wheaton French market on Saturdays in the summer!"

  • "We scheduled an afternoon tea reservation for a birthday. First of all, our server was not knowledgeable on the teas they offered. Also, our teas were cold for the entire meal. It was difficult to enjoy an afternoon tea when it was cold. They were also out of bananas, so half of their dessert menu was unavailable. The sandwiches and soup were declicious, but we did not have the experience we had hoped for."

  • "Fantastic quiche. Lovely salad. Onion soup --- onions could use carmelization. Cantalope in fruit cup was hard and not ripe. Time between courses a bit lengthy. Restaurant was chilly when we arrived. Little complimentary rolls were a really nice touch. It would be even better to get these while waiting for your meal. Very nice selection of brunch items. Waitress was very sweet. Will return again for brunch."

  • "We went here with my 11 month old son, thinking it would be a quick lunch. It ended up dragging on for almost 2 hours, which wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't for a tired kid. The food was great but it took a long time between each course and the service was very slow. One thing I look for is my water being filled, which sadly it wasn't. I would go here again but be prepared for a long stay."

  • "As a Francophile, I was really looking forward to my first time. I ordered the "trois salades" but found the Waldorf salad and chicken salad full of mayonnaise, which, in my experience, is very American, not French. The tea and coffee were excellent, as was the chocolate mousse cake. It would have been better if it had a little raspberry sauce on it. I suggested that to the waitress, and she said she would pass that on. Altogether a delightful experience and I will go back. The ambiance is lovely but the place was a bit chilly. The fireplace could have been on."

  • "The addition is a brilliant blend of the two spaces, so warm and comforting. Try the Spicy Coconut Shrimp. Just a little heat at the end of the bite. Delicious! Always enjoy the French Onion Soup. Thick, cheesy and satisfying. Ask for the Queen Anne seats by the fireplace. Intimate and relaxing. The Hot Chocolate is WORTH the WAIT!! All in all a wonderful meal. Thank you Suzettes!"

  • "Ever year we come here for Christmas tea, which we love. Love the ambiance ,as well as the china settings. Food is good. Desserts could be a little more plentiful and upgraded. The only thing that is irritating is that it is obvious those who opt for the champagne Tea are seated in the main room. We waited almost fifteen minutes before we were even served our tea, after the main room had been served."

  • "We had questions about our reservations. Left a message as Suzette's voicemail message instructed. No one ever called back. THEN, as we were finishing our meal, the owner asked us to "Please leave because she really needs the table". We were taken aback. So rude and unprofessional. We will not be back."

  • "The holiday tea was delicious! Staff friendly! Big disappointment was the sitting, sat with my coat, scarf and hat on. They seated us next to a fire door and we felt the draft from the fire door. We told the staff and their response was the heat is 72 degrees and We should call earlier next year to get a better seat."

  • "Met friends for a Christmas breakfast here. Food was okay, and service was good. However, $9.50 for scrambled eggs, two small slices of baguette, and 3 TB of fruit salad had me feeling like a fool upon leaving. Maybe if the food had blown me away, I would have felt differently, but I don't know if that was possible given what I ordered."

  • "I took my two daughters here for a Christmas tea. The table we were seated at was drafty and ignored by the wait staff most of the time. Tea was offered sporadically as well as their small bites which were either overdone or bland. A very disappointing experience!"

  • "A friend and I visited Suzette's for their Christmas Tea. The experience was good, but not great, and warranted 3.5 stars overall. I think our main complaints were the tea choices and the format of the tea. There weren't that many tea choices and the ones we tried were okay, but none were all that great. Secondly, we found it distracting to keep having the individual food items brought around and placed on your plate as well as the circulating pots of tea. It was nice to be able to try different teas as the staff brought them around but sometimes you needed a fresh cup and they weren't there and other times you didn't and they were. The food was fine, but nothing inspired or outstanding, and the desert bar was a disappointment."
