Diner Reviews
  • "I would happily return here for the great food (love the sushi, cebiche and the drinks), and the colorful, fun atmosphere. You should try it."

  • "From the moment we arrived everyone was friendly and welcoming. The waiter Solomon explained the menu and offered some options for us to choose. He provided great service by always being friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and there was a great choice. I will definitely recommend this to anyone visiting NYC."

  • "Really liked it ... I loved the appetizers and the sides ... service was excellent!"

  • "An awesome mix of Brazilian and Japanese, however a bit pricy for what you get. Better to go to a Sushi place if you're looking for real authentic sushi thats better priced"

  • "Big drinking crowd and they really push booze on customers. The food is fun and yummy, though."

  • "Service was excellent, food was fresh and tasty but way overpriced for the portion sizes. I would suggest to anyone do not go there on an empty stomach otherwise you will leave with a whopping Bill! Portions are small and the rolls are smaller that your average sushi rolls. Drinks are nice but watered down. I would do this place again for a quick bite and a light drink with friends, co-workers and or date. They have a nice lounge area too!"

  • "The food was a delicious mix of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian. We chose from the Restaurant Week menu and there was enough choices so that the three of us were able to sample three different dishes for each course. We had a window/outdoor table so we got to experience the vibe of the West Village, which made the dining experience even more fun."

  • "Worst 300 dollars I've ever spent. Everyone seemed non attentive, not like park avenue one. I will never attend this restaurant again. Philippe was much better any day of the week."

  • "I was organizing a surprise birthday dinner for my friend. My reservation was at 8:30 and we did not get seated before 10:10 pm and the staff was not helpful at all. I am never going back there again."

  • "Food was great. Excellent service. A great kids menu complete with service in a Tiffanwala and kids chopsticks. Also, great desserts."

  • "I discovered this fantastic spot during Restaurant Week. I was searching for either an Asian or Brazillian restaurant and was happy to see a menu that was a fusion of Japanese, Peruvian and Brazillian cuisines. The atmosphere is vibrant, with colorful original artwork on the walls. The ceviche was perfect, sushi sampler was melt-in-your-mouth fresh and skirt steak cooked to perfection. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a different take on dishes they already love, or to be introduced to something completely fresh."

  • "We frequented the 7th avenue location for several years until they closed, simply because that location was close to work. We tried the West Village location, but their Samba Park menu option was actually Samba Seven. We are so used to the "park" edition, please bring it back!!!"

  • "Yellowtail tacos are excellent. Sushi rolls very tasty. Drinks not great and took too long. Great atmosphere upstairs."

  • "The service was a little off, but probably because the restaurant was packed. It took a while to get our drinks and food."

  • "SushiSAMBA park was one of our favorite manhattan restaurants form several years ago. From our visit to West Village, we learned why likely the Park location closed. Our service was very good but the food was expensive, mediocre, over-done, and under-seasoned. The cocktails overcame cheap liquor with excessive sweetness. The sushi fish was not fresh and the rice was grainy. There is an empty spot in my stomach I will have to find another place to fill."

  • "Perhaps they just added weekend brunch, and the rest of NYC doesn't know about it yet? It wasn't busy at all, and everything was delicious! We had the $30 per person three course meal, and it was a huge amount of food. Lobster eggs benedict, sushi, and a dessert assortment for $30 in NYC? That's a steal, IMHO."

  • "The fish was not fresh and some toppings of the rainbow roll were very little. It was a major dissapointment, especially after wonderful sushi experiences in other Sushi Samba places like Vegas and London. Even the cocktails were horrible. The mojito tasted like water. The service was poor and the waiters lacked enthusiasm. Also the ambience wasn't great. Everyone sits on top of each other and it feels like have dinner in a disco. Overall, an extremely dissapointing experience. This place is not worthy of the Sushi Samba name."

  • "SushiSamba is by far my favorite restaurant. Both floors are decorated amazingly enough that it could be romantic enough for date night and fun enough for girls night out. The food is absolutely amazing."

  • "We went here for the Brasil vs Colombia football game and it was great. Very busy but still decent service. The wait for drinks was quite a while, but that's to be expected at an event like this when it was so crowded. After the game, the dj upstairs kept the party going with Brasilian music. Great time, lots of fun."

  • "Overall good experience. Server was not very attentive. Never received any refills on our water, and the drinks we ordered with the entrees never arrived. We had to chase down the check so we could go somewhere else to get timely drinks and service. Service is usually better- disappointing as this was an anniversary dinner."

  • "everything was great except the very expensive beef wasn't as good as I remember. The service was great and we had a great table on the second floor balcony. Lots of fun!"

  • "We been here before and for the most part everyone enjoyed the dinner- however being my husband is vegitarian - the options are limited - and yet they had a vegitarian menu :) - sadly tho- when we asked the waitress to ask the chefs to make a specific vegie roll (had many times b4) she said no they couldn't make it - bringing him then the most boring basic roll ever- it was so sad ... we all had the most creative dishes and he had rice and advocodo roll with soy sauce- he's was annoyed to say the least - we asked again if they could make something - and magically it came out of the kitchen- a custom roll with mozzarella cheese and onion crunches - why that couldn't happen the 1st time?"

  • "the food is oh so wonderful and the drinks are too"

  • "The service has certainly slacked off. Super polite, but not useful. There are only so many times I can be greeted before it seems court-ordered and insincere. But then asking for help with the rather convoluted menu seemed too much to ask of our server. Way over priced (ASK the price before ordering the specials!) and cocktails are the usual $15 fancy sweet nothings a high school girl might throw together. Certainly no innovation at the bar. Enjoyable, but this was probably my last visit."

  • "This restaurant is fabulous. Very friendly wait staff, excellent food, and extremely interesting sushi rolls. Never fails to impress me!"
    Dined on 6/23/2014
  • "The food is outstanding and the wait staff knowledgeable. The one problem I had was that the music is pumped through so loud that I could not hear what the waitress was saying. The mixed drinks were delicious and a man came by to ask if I needed more hot water for my green tea and kept filling up the iced water glasses. It's a bit expensive so I would definitely classify it as a special occasion fun place."

  • "Our server was fabulous and encouraged us to try some of the different sushi rolls that SushiSamba is noted for. So glad that we took his advice! They were fabulous and it was great to get away from ordering our usual rolls. Would go back for sure!"

  • "We decided on the tasting menu and couldnt have asked for a better experience. The waitress made sure she covered any allergies within the group before she made the selection and she nailed each and every one of them. Great experience!"

  • "I have been to this restaurant many times before and enjoyed it but this time was disappointing. The food wasn't great. The sushi was poorly constructed but tasted okay. The service was lousy. They were having issues with their lights so the lights kept going from really bright to completely off as they played with it. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I don't expect to be back there. "

  • "My wife and I have been several times and had both amazing sushi and service. However, this time service was lacking. Maybe our attendant had too many tables? Who knows. Hopefully next time we get lucky with service as well as prior visits. "

  • "We were in town for a couple of days and some friends recommeded this place. We booked online without any trouble and we recieved great service and the food was excellent. A bit on the noisy side and the menu was a bit confusing but the staff were glad to answer any questions. Don't forget to bring tip to the toilets though, you'll see why. "

  • "Went here for a weekday business lunch, which my colleague and I enjoyed thoroughly. We started off with their sea salt edamame and homemade iced tea, which was absolutely delicious. We then shared the anticuchos Organic Chicken with Peruvian corn, which was amazing. I got the Waguy Sliders and my colleague got the Kari Kari Rolls. Again, the flavors and preparation were outstanding -- as was the service from our waitress Alice. We will definitely go back again hopefully to enjoy the rooftop dining and drinks on Thurs-Sat."

  • "SS NYC is a casual, noisy place and felt more like a bar. Service was only fair-repeatedly having trouble catching a waiter (and it wasn't busy). The sushi rolls, eggplant skewers and banana pudding were great. Meat main with rib-eye, Waygu beef and chorizo was good quality but pricey. Mid-tier place with a top tier price - some nice food options but overall disappointed. No comparison to the London Sushi Samba which was outstanding."

  • "We are a french couple, 50 y old. We have eaten outside. Very attractive, delicious and original food. Beautiful place."

  • "Wow. From start to finish, what a meal. Our waitress was awesome, and extremely knowledgeable. Ordered the tuna sashimi....and spent a half hour trying to figure out if I could recreate the sauce. Delicious. The octopus...amazing. Lobster tacos...amazing. The sushi roll we ordered was covered in mozzarella cheese and had crispy onions and oh my god it was the most delectable thing I ever ate. Hands down best sushi roll. Hit up most of the cocktail list, the watermelon baja being a standout as well as a few others. My fiancé had a bottle of sake that she said was amazing. Sat upstairs on a gorgeous sunny day on outside patio. Loved. Amazing and will definitely return!!"

  • "I love it here I think that it's one of the best places to go in NYC.The ambiance is so fun and it really has a nice feeling to it which is really important. The decor is awesome, it seems like there is always something to look at with the decor and it's great to people watch! You can come here on a date or for a fun dinner with your friends! The service and food are always on point. Definitely get the Sea bass skewers and the dumplings for apps. Try the Nina fresca for a drink to it's so good!! It's expensive but it's NYC and you get what you pay for. The food and drinks are always amazing! The hosts servers bartenders and managers are always so friendly and on top of the restaurant. I have been here over 20 times which says a lot. "
