Diner Reviews
  • "my wife and i like to come here and eat often and bring our kids too. the food is always great and wait time on food is reasonable. As for service, it varies, sometimes we get a great waiter/waitress, and there's times when we are waiting on drinks, refills or just waiting ready to order."

  • "My husband and I really enjoyed our time here. Food is a bit more expensive than other places compared to the portion sizes you get. But the food was fantastic and we will go again!"

  • "We went and got the normal that we usually got but also changed it up and got 2 new items. Waitress was very informative and knew her menu and what selections would work best with the Sake we ordered. Great experience and would definitely go back!"

  • "Great Sushi and a great variety of selections. Even a person in our group who doesn't like any kind of seafood had some options to include a Texan Roll that had beef instead of fish."

  • "Another solid experience at sushi zushi. Good food, atmosphere, and service."

  • "Ultra slow service. 80 minutes for two rolls and three entrees? Ridiculous. Moderate quality food at high prices. You can do better in this part of town."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised for a chain restaurant. The ambiance is modern yet comfortable. Deep menu selection good with "real" Japanese items included. The food was good, although they brought a spoon with the miso soup (I guess you just can't get away from that in Texas). Service was great with knowledgeable wait staff. The only issue is they nickel-and-dime you by charging you for the tea, rice, and even for a little side of red pickles that should be standard with curry rice. Once you tally it all up, it comes up over-priced. For Japanese food, I would prefer to go to Godai or Fujiya close by."

  • "The menu says it all as there is a lot of variety for sushi. Highly recommend the restaurant. The staff was pleasant as well."

  • "I love the neighborhood feel this place has. It is small but cozy. The meu at this place is overwhelming, definitey over 100 items! Our waitress provided some excedllent suggestions and was very interactive with our group. Everyone at the table enjoyed their rolls. Some highlights include: cosimo, godzilla, the b&g, torreado. The only complaint the table agreed on pertained to our cocktails. The cocktails were heavy on soda and fruit juice and very light on the alcohol. However, we would definitely go back to tackle the huge menu!"

  • "The food and service are excellent, but the music is pretty loud. It can be difficult to hear if you're trying to have a conversation with even just one other person."

  • "We had the scallops appetizer, 4 rolls: Janie, New York, Cosimo and Jack. The COSIMO is my absolute favorite now! We also had some wasabi roe, that added a little kick to the meal. For dessert we had the Key lime and the Chocolate cakes. They are small, but both are very great tasting. The lime drizzle was my favorite part :)"

  • "It was decent. I've been to cheaper sushi places with better tasting food. The staff was very friendly, and the food and drinks got out quickly. Overall it was a pleasant experience."

  • "My previous experience at this restaurant was unfortunately dissatisfying. We decided to try them again, and reserved a table online. I guess that is the magic key to getting the best table, the best server, and the best food! What a difference! Sitting in the bar dining room is a much more condusive environment to dining than the front room. WOW! Our server Fredrich (sp) was awesome! I regret not leaving him a larger tip. Next time I'm there I will make sure to find him and give him some more of a tip he deserved! We had a most enjoyable lunch and the Plum Wine is divine :) If you like sweet wines, ask for Plum Wine. I loved the Monterey, Jack, and Janie rolls! The Oahu roll had too much breading & it left a 'scraped' feeling on my tongue."

  • "I love hamachi cama! We had several rolls, soup, yakisoba, everything was delicious. And try the Asahi Black beer! Dark like Guinness, without the soy sauce taste."

  • "We recently returned to the states after living in Japan for 4 years. We were hesitant to visit a sushi restaurant in a land locked town, but our craving outweighted our fears. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and extensive menu. Only one of our Japanese favorites was missing from the menu! We will definitely return."

  • "The consistency of this restaurant is great. Of the ten times that we have been there we have never left with a complaint or a regret."

  • "The service was good. We had reservations and were promptly seated. The waitress was attentive and the food arrived within minutes of being ordered. The sushi was good. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate it an 7.5 - 8.0. The prices were moderate, and in keeping with what I expected to pay and received."

  • "The food was great, tempura dinner more than I could finish. Udon Sukiyaki dish was excellent as well. Various Sushi dishes were fresh, flavorful and authentically done. My last Japanese dining experience was in Little Tokyo in LA and this compared favorably."

  • "We throughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food presentation was especially nice."

  • "They need more sushi restaurants like this around...there aren't enough of them!"

  • "For traditional sushi lovers, this place is likely not where you'll find excellent sushi. The sushi is meant more for the "trendy crowd" and looks pleasing to the eye as the various rolls have catchy names and ingredients. However, when eating traditional nigiri or sashimi, I'd expect larger pieces of fish, and rice that is made better. The rice served with the nigiri was not made correctly and did not hold its shape -merely crumbled when picked up with chopsticks. The tempura was greasy and not done well at all. Food overall was mediocre."

  • "I don't know what it is but i had a better experience at the one in the Alamo heights area and at Stone Oak off 1604"

  • "This branch of Sushi Zushi was not hooked up to Open Table in their computer. When we arrived, they did not have my reservation and said they didn't accept reservations. When I explained the situation, they were very nice about it and got us a table in a few minutes, even though other diners were waiting for a table. The staff were extremely nice and informative. I wish this restaurant was in LA too."
