We went with 4 adults. The food was very fresh and tasted good. We like sushi with unique rolls and we were hoping for some island flair. But they only had a few on the menu.

The sushi was quite good. Would recommend the tempura soft shell crab. Service was average. They took quite a while to notice we were waiting for a seat. It's the only sushi place in the area other than the place in the JW.

We got there 15 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. Then it went downhill. We were never given napkins or any type of utensils, I had to ask for them. Food took almost an hour but I will say it was absolutely delicious. There servers were very stressed, kind of all over the place. I think they were perhaps short handed? Or just confused??

Delicious food, even for the kids. The kids meal had a great variety and reasonably priced. My husband really enjoyed the sushi and I thought the miso yaks butterfish was absolutely delectable!

  • Great happy hour
    Yummy

We've been here several times and was never disappointed. Although the happy hour food offering now lists only a few dishes, most were delicious and reasonably priced. We, the Mrs and I, also enjoyed the drinks with her sangria and my few beers and excellent sake. Mrs ordered the hamachi nigiri 3xs and I one each of the salmon and ika that had a nice sliver of shiso. The steak was a wonderful surprise for only $18...well seasoned, perfectly grilled and tender, a must order for beef lovers. Only disappointed with the uni as it was not fresh, but the whole dining experience was wonderful.

Love the decor!!! The wait for our food was quite long even though there were only a few people/tables filled. Dynamite sushi was smelly. I think the salmon was going bad. We went for the grilled hamachi but was told there was only one left. Hmmmm ....it was only noon time not closing time. Wish there was more of a selection on the menu. The edamame appetizer was yummy and mom said the hamachi was good. The sushi platter was tasty.

If your reading this and traveling to Ko Olina for the first time your going to find there's not a lot of dining options for you. Those of us who have been know exactly what I'm talking about. Well now there's another and a pretty darn good one at that. We weren't expecting much but went almost out of desperation because we're soooooooooooooooooooo tired of the highly overrated Monkey Pod. Wow were we ever surprised. The service was amazing. Food great and believe it or not prices rather reasonable considering where your at. Needless to say we highly recommend it and will be going back often!

After reading various reviews, we were interested to see what Yuzu would offer. It was WONDERFUL!! Our service was very good, yes, some dishes came out as they were prepared, but I think that is normal in sushi restaurants. Our server let us know that the teriyaki chicken skewers for my son might take a bit longer, which they didn't, at the time we ordered. The rolls, poke and sashimi came out in a timely manner, as did drink refills. Overall, we really, really liked the restaurant and wished we had tried it earlier in our stay so that we could have visited Yuzu again.

We had a reservation for 5 and was told to wait 20 mins For a table. 20 mins went by and then we were told to wait another 20 mins . Another 20 mins later , we were led to the bar tables where I had to stand because there were no chairs . 15 mins later , we were asked for our drink order , but by then it was too late so we left . This is not typical for the type of service .it was clear they were understaffed .

Very good food, but each order is brought out as it is made. With a party of four, one person may get his food a half hour before the fourth person gets his food. Can make for a long dinner.

I feel bad saying that but it was expensive ($150 for 2 adults 2 kids) and the sushi was just okay. The quality was not great for being surrounded by an ocean. The service however was very friendly so if you aren't a sushi snob you're probably okay. We may give them another chance...

We typically eat dinners here but decided to go one day for lunch. The lunch menu is much smaller and doesn't have all of our dinner favs like the lotus root pizzas and assorted yakitori (only teriyaki available for lunch). Next time we'll wait till they serve the full dinner menu.

  • Waited Forever For Our Food
    LSBL
    Dined on 6/25/2014
The food here was decent when we actually got it. Waited almost 25 minutes for our sushi order to arrive. We were so hungry we quickly are the edamame (too salty) and ordered more. That next order came half hour later after our food arrived. We were still hungry since we each only ordered one roll and my daughter didn't like her California roll which was too salty. Our mistake because even though we complained about how slow the kitchen was, fifteen minutes later we were still waiting for our food. They brought out our chicken skewers only to find out the other roll we ordered still had not been made!!! Frustrated we paid the bill and left. Will never go back or recommend and in fact the table who sat next to us left too.

  • Another Ko'Olina disappointment
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 6/4/2014
Our server was great, but the food was mediocre at best. Ko'Olina and its business model of overpriced low-quality restaurants is just disappointing -- anyone wanting a decent meal needs to head to the eastern or northern parts of the island. Why Hawaiian restaurants can't seem to serve fresh fish -- yet will charge $30-$40 for a frozen filet--is mind boggling to me.

Had early dinner at 5, Happy our from 4:30 to 5:30, they have my favorite beers Asahi and Echigo, the somen, grilled squid, organic potatoes, and Omakase combo meal was great, also tried a few other stuff from the menu and they were also great, the wait staff was very polite and always made sure if all was okay, the price is a little up there but worth will, was surprised for a Japanese restaurant they played the 80's american music, all in all a good dinning experience for me and my family

The restaurant is not very large, easily handling about 50 people inside. The staff were quite friendly, the quality of the food was VERY good and the prices not bad. However, we were a little disappointed that it took almost 15 minutes during the meal to get a re-fill of hot tea and water. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry and it was pouring rain outside, so we didn't frustrate over the slow drink service. I'd go again.

It's been a couple of days since our "experience" of dinnng here and after thinking about it and talking about it with a few of my local friends it seems a shame that he only thing holding this restaurant back is a good manager. If you read my review from Sunday night you can see what we put up with. The food was good but unfortunately that is the only thing.

We absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was phenomenal and the staff was always incredible attentive. We were vacationing in Hawaii and once we found this restaurant we had dinner there 4 nights in a row... The sushi was great (wished for more variety) the grilled squid was the highlight of the menu according to my husband.

  • Nice dining alternative for Aulani
    Zobear
    Dined on 1/10/2014
We decided to try here for dinner on our recent Aulani stay. It's sushi joint so you pay sushi prices - not cheap but not really a rip off either. We thought it was still better than paying the resort dining prices back at the hotel. Even though it seems that sushi is their specialty, our favorite dish was actually the lotus root pizza! I would definitely order that next time we go. We didn't try any nigiri, just a couple of their fancy rolls. Best of the two was the lobster roll, plump and juicy pieces of lobster tempura on top of spicy tuna, another item worth ordering again. They had a pretty decent kids meal for about 10 bucks but my son's chicken karaage was really dry. He still enjoyed the french fries and the sausage though.

We had a terrible experience on Christmas day. There were few diners in the restaurant at the time but we waited 45 minutes for my wife's food before canceling her order and leaving. It was all sushi and should not have taken long at all. Other diners who came later were served before us. The manager was apologetic but did not have an explanation for why it took so long. My food came quickly and was OK but not outstanding. We had hoped to make it a regular dining place as it is close to our home. I'm not sure we will try it again.

My husband had the OMAKASE Hawaii and I had the OMAKASE Japan. The food and service was good, but the indoor seating area was limited. We ended up at an outdoor table on the sidewalk with little lighting so I did not get to fully appreciate the presentation of our dinner. It was also quite windy and chilly so we ate quickly and left.
