AmazingReasonably priced for what you get. Plan on spending $80-150/person for dinner (with drinks). Worth every penny!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHighest-quality sushi you'll findJust had the sushi tasting menu -- it was transcendent. Everything was so fresh, and unlike any sushi you've had elsewhere.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding butThe food was outstanding but the decor and ambiance were disappointing. Our waitress was very knowledgable and friendly but we could barely understand her English.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDate night out of townGreat spot for a quiet date in DC. Birthday dinner for my gf. We both loved it. Great sushi. Try the green tea dessert cake.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent SushiTop notch sushi and delicious small dishes. Tofu with uni was amazing. Prawn and vegetable tempura was decent, but not outstanding, and for the price deserved more prawns than vegetables. Shochu cocktail was very strong and a little rough: not for everyone.
Sushi omakase was absolutely delicious, fresh, and a good assortment. Overall an very good experience.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUsually our service is solid,Usually our service is solid, but this time it wasn't the best. The food was wonderful as usual and I will continue to be a repeat customer.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways wonderful! We love Sushi Taro! It is always top notch and the servers remember us! They are knowledgable, engaging, and friendly. Obviously the price tag is steep but it is worth every single penny. BEST DINING EXPERIENCE IN DC, HANDS DOWN. We have been several times and never experienced an "off" night with either the food or service. I like plain ole sushi and my husband likes to try all the other dishes, everything is fantastic. Highly recommend!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always great!!!My second time eating dinner at Sushi Taro and I have to say the menu selections are awesome and the service each time has just been excellent. Definitely going again when visiting DC5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMYummyThe food is excellent. Loved the Arctic Char nigiri! Some of the best unagi I've ever had and eaten sushi in may parts of the non-Asian world. The spicy tuna roll is spicy but great. The ambiance is pleasant, the wait staff is solid but not as knowledgeable as I had hoped, and just a tad inattentive. That being said, the staff is very nice, which was much appreciated. Looking forward to going back soon.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous splurgeWe did the 10 course tasting menus for my husband's birthday, and the experience was wonderful. Each course was both a work of art and a taste treat. The authenticity of the Japanese cuisine was attested to by the number of native Japanese diners we saw. We will definitely go back--it was the best sushi we've ever had and the black tempura was the only softshell crab dish that my husband has ever liked. As a said--fabulous.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceThe servers were incredibly helpful and intelligent on the menu and how to eat every dish. The food was really outstanding... Their hot tofu was superb! I'm from Hawaii so I've had better quality of sushi/sashimi but overall, I had a great time!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerWe decided to start with the conch which had grit in it aside from that tasty. For main course we shared the chef's choice sushi box- 12 pieces plus a tuna roll for fifty five bucks. It was good sushi grade but I'm not sure I would say worth that price. It was god and better than any of the other sushi I've had in the city but we still left a little hungry.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was difficult to find theIt was difficult to find the address and parking. But the sushi food was good and the ambiance, quiet environment and windows upstairs overlooking the trees and street was pleasant. My companion was disappointed however that they did not serve teriyaki food.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE this restaurant. We alwaysLOVE this restaurant. We always go. It's so delicious. This is the ONLY place for Japanese food in Washington, D.C. This is where you find real Japanese ingredients flown in from Japan, seasonal dishes, and the best hojicha pudding. The serving staff also knows the food and are very professional.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMlet me first disclaim thatlet me first disclaim that i've not been to makoto. but with that said, sushi taro is the best japanese restaurant i've had in DC. tried both the sushi course and the kaiseki course, and every item was perfectly prepared and on point. great examples of traditional preparations. also want to mention that our server, Orgi, is one of the most attentive service staff i've encountered... enough that i needed to ask for her name and will be requesting for her from now.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Sushi Taro. Go for theirLove Sushi Taro. Go for their lunch, it's such a good deal. Stick with the bento box. Friend got the rolls. I would say they were just ok. I have been here before..but this time the service was lacking & inattentive. They were very busy, so, I understand. And when asked..she was very responsive. But the hard part was tracking her down. Otherwise, amazing as ever.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding SushiOutstanding! Best Sushi ever!! Saturday in March required reservations. Enjoyed food and service so much. The menu is a bit confusing, and the servers aren't much help, but the food is outstanding. The sushi and sashimi are fresh and delicious. The sake flight is a good idea for sampling different sake.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe appetizers were good,The appetizers were good, especially the seaweed salad and sweet potato tempura. The sushi was very fresh and portions were generous. Friendly wait staff.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, ambianceThe food at Sushi Taro is always lovely. Our waitress was a little slow this time, but generally we have excellent service and always have a good time. I'll continue to go back again and again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBday dinner experienceMy experience at Sushi Taro was wonderful! My party and I did the 10 course tasting menu with the sake pairing. Each dish was perfectly prepared and serve with wonderful sake. Our service was beautiful. We always had what we wanted at the table and if we ordered something else it came right away and was quietly served. Our server was knowledgable about all the dishes and sake we were ate. We were seated right next to the window which made for a beautiful sun set and people watching. I would recommend this to all who love new food experience and are not afraid to spend money. Every penny spent was worth it.
Thank you for making our dining experience from reserving the table to ordering, preparing & serving the food memorable.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMService is excellent and canService is excellent and can be brisk at lunchtime if desired. Usually difficult to understand the server due to heavy accent. Shrimp in Sashimi tend to be watery and not firm (on two occasions) presentation is lovely and food is generally excellent. One of my favorite lunchtime locations.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood neighborhood find.Good sushi, great service. Will recommend for any occasion. Good for groups less than 10.
