Sushi Sasabune HawaiiFor serious expert sushi eatersFor serious expert sushi eaters only!!!!!
All fish course sushi was excellent. I couldn't do the raw ika, squid, and uni. Bill was $350 for two if us. If a first time amature sushi enthusiast were to eat here and get this bill, he would have a heart attack. Seriously!!!! This was my second visit here but I dont think I'll dine here again. For this price, I can get an iPad mini. Hahahahhaa!!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMbest sushi ever!We did the omakase and every dish was absolutely delicious. It is definitely worth a return visit.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing sushiThe Japanese omakase was amazing, but you have to be willing to be adventurous because it's chef's choice and all seafood.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTrust MeOne of the best meals I've ever had, hands down. The staff was charming and super helpful in guiding me through the omakase experience. Don't be afraid to ask questions, then sit back and enjoy. Follow the one-bite rule for the nigiri. You wouldn't tear a Picasso in half, would you?4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat to say that someone elseWhat to say that someone else hasn't?!? Sushi Sasabune is #1 for a reason, they pay attention. Everything from the second you walk in has been well thought out. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable, the atmosphere very comfortable and their chef is a mad scientist. I took my girlfriend there for her birthday, we both got Omasake (sp). She got the eastern, I went with western. We ate things I don't ever expect I'll have a chance of trying again, and I'm an adventurous eater. Out of 13 courses we both had 3 that took our breathe away. Whomever commented that you could feel each grain of rice in your mouth was 110% right. I would recommend this place to anyone for a special occasion, or if you just want an unforgettable meal.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the best sushi ever.Simply the best sushi ever. The chefs and wait staff were extremely attentive and personable. I don't have the money to go there all the time... but wish I did.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBeyond all expectations! We arrived early but were seated within 5 minutes of our time. Unlike some of the reviews I read, the service we received was top drawer. The servers were helpful, friendly and informative. We opted for the 13 course tasting, two pieces per person. You can stop any time and we were told and the cost would be prorated. We literally stuffed ourselves! We probably should have stopped after course 8 or nine, but we were experiencing new tastes with each course and did not want to miss anything that we never tasted before. We knew after the first course that we were in one of the best sushi restaurants. The cost of the 13 course tasting is $120 pp. We chose the recommended saki, that was in the middle cost wise. We will be back in two years4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGood SushiGreat Sushi and experience. Some might find the no soya sauce a challenge but otherwise great4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Service!!Brought a mainland guest who heard of the place but wanted to the experience. We sat at the sushi bar. Sushi staff was excellent at explaining each of the dishes that were brought out. The food was perfect and filling enough when the set menu was finished. My guest wss thoroughly impress with the food and service and it is now favorite sushi place.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe sushi is amazingly deliciousThe sushi is amazingly delicious and fresh, the service is impeccable and the omakase is a must-get.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMYou Get What You Pay ForFlawless, artful, delightful. A total homerun. To anyone reading a review about them being bossy, ignore. The servers, hosts, and sushi sansei are kind professionals. Omakase means entrustment. They know what they are doing.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThere are two types of seating,There are two types of seating, at the counter directly in front of the chefs and at tables. The counter seemed to be the more popular reservation, but our table was fine. The decor is simple, with white walls and ceiling framed with black wood. Very relaxing ambience. Although you can order ala carte, get the chef's menu which on our night was a 13 plate series of amazing selections. They have excellent sake too; get the sasabune sake which is served at room temperature. It is very expensive, but worth it. Do not try to control your order. Each piece is so perfectly flavored that doing anything other than taking it all in one bite would throw off its balance. Surrender to the experience. The staff is attentive and friendly.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the best sushi I haveSome of the best sushi I have ever had, including in Japan and Hong Kong. We had the omakase tasting menu, which was amazing; but that being said, I do have one complaint. 13 courses is their standard offerning, and that is too much food and diminishes the overall experience. All 4 in our party felt the same. Had it ended with 10 courses, finishing with their signature dish (negri toro), it would have been supurb. Also, there were a couple of items that were not my favorites - both used crab miso, which I find to tase too fishy - but that is probably just an aquired taste, so I would still try again. Really liked our sushi chef, who was very personable. Overall, it was fabulous; just a little too much food.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food and great service.excellent food and great service. the omakase was wonderful3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAuthentic Sushi......Sasabune is not for everyone. But if you like great, authentic sushi, this is the place for you. The Sushi Master Chef can be critical toward people who do not the eat the sushi the correct way, but like I said, it is the best and most authentic sushi outside of Japan.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food but too expeninsive! You can't say enough good things about the fish preparation and quality here at Sasabune. Melt in your mouth freshness and really nice flavors added to make the sushi extra special. And the wait service is very attentive and informative (if not a little too much: informing you how to eat the sushi "one bite, please" and what to put on it "soy on this piece only, please.") However, the price is quite incredible. My wife and I paid over $325 w/ tip (2 beers each was the only alcohol, no sake) and the 13 courses (of between 2 and 3 pieces of sushi each course) was just too much, even for fish! We were able to enjoy the first 10 courses, but after that, we had trouble enjoying the courses, because we were getting full.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAll i can say is wow..bestAll i can say is wow..best sushi ever had..flavors were outstanding...sushi melted in your mouth with gentle flavorful sauce on some. Chef brings you his choices...the motto is "trust me" and you definitely can...never had such quality and flavors...worth every penny..oops dollar..expect to pay at least $125 per person for lunch. Can't wait to return3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe opted for the omakase menu.We opted for the omakase menu. Absolutely delicious fish. Service was friendly but they had more rules than you're probably accustomed to in a restaurant. I understand why they tell you on which items you should or shouldn't use soy, I just thought it was a little harsh that they told us we could not eat the sushi in two bites. Though I was fine with that, at times it was quite a mouthful for my twelve year old daughter. Still, the meal was divine. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth fresh and the service was excellent. If you can afford it (dinner for my daughter and I was $300 and we did not order any drinks), definitely eat at Sushi Sasabune.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
