Sushi RockGreat now that its open for lunch!Sushi Rock is a good spot for lunch in Courthouse - well priced for lunch and leave's you feeling full - but not uncomfortably stuffed.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Time! Will go again!Sushi Rock was a pleasant surprise. Service was great and food delicious!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMBest sushi in DCThis is by far our favorite spot for sushi. The specialty drinks are great and the rock and roll theme is really fun. Be sure to make a reservation or you'll be waiting during peak times.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic Birthday DinnerWe booked a reservation for a party of 8 at 7pm on a Saturday to celebrate a birthday. We were seated immediately (even though all of our party was not present) and were served with drinks very quickly. We ordered about 16 rolls of sushi and were told that since the place was full it would be about a 45 wait for the sushi so they recommended we order some appetizers. We had 2 types of steamed buns and steamed dumplings and they were fantastic. However, they did not come out until just before our sushi arrived, they didn't really fill the gap between ordering and receiving our sushi. The sushi was fantastic and service was ok. There were several times where our drinks were empty (water and cocktails) for 15-30 minutes. Overall a great night.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Sushi Rock!!!!Food was amazing...they even have wonton nachos! The sushi was excellent with various choices, it took me too long to decide. :) the cocktails were surprisingly tasty and the atmosphere was brilliant. Not overdone like Hard Rock Cafe, Sushi Rock has just the perfect amount of rock'n'roll and good not-to-loud music. Service was great as well, fast for a Friday evening and not overly crowded.
Definitely a new fav!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Sushi RockWe have been to Sushi Rock a couple of times now. First was for my boyfriend's birthday. We wanted a laid back place that wasn't too expensive. We just moved into the neighborhood and found this gem. Good food, good service, fun atmosphere that wasn't too crazy. Second time to Sushi Rock was when my mom came in town. They sat us right by the window, waiter recommended the volcano, which was delicious, and everyone got what they wanted. Fun atmosphere that night as well but again not too crazy where we could actually hold conversations!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceI had a birthday party at this restaurant and it was great. My party was about 25 guests and all of them were satisfied with quality of food, service and the atmosphere( we were seated upstairs) . However, since we only were assigned one server it delayed the service quite bit. Some guests waited a long time to get their drinks and food. But I understood the situation since we were many and he could not satisfy everyone at once. Overall I really like this place and food. I am a returning guest and have thrown my parties at this place often.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI will start off by sayingI will start off by saying that the food and service was excellent and I would probably go back. The lunch Bento box deal is great!
It is an unassuming storefront and if you weren't looking for it, you'd probably miss it.The decor and seating is what I can only describe as what a Japanese owner thinks Americans want. With an out-of-place piano in the middle of the restaurant I envision Japanese businessmen drinking Sapporo and singing Brown Eyed Girl. The molded plastic bowl chairs reminiscent of the 70s were coupled with an awkwardly low table forcing you to lean halfway across the table if you wanted to lean. Our server assured us that happy hour is a vibrant scene.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Sushi ever. The staffBest Sushi ever. The staff is great and are highly attentiive. Food was on point. Will definitely go back ASAP.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMhad a few interesting rollshad a few interesting rolls and the $100 platter to share with our group...overall good and fresh fish...what really went well for me was the outdoor seating. we were at a "couch/table" setup and it was one of the first beautiful nights of spring. there were 2 pretty flowering trees with white lights, and the patio is set back from the road. you do not find that often in arlington. i'd go back just for the patio dining.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitress was so helpfulOur waitress was so helpful and very sweet. We sat outside in comfortable seats and were amazed at how pretty the lights in the trees were. Our waitress recommended an absolutely great Hawaiian sparkling wine that we both enjoyed. There was a mistake with our order but our server was extremely generous and let us keep the roll and brought out our correct order. Overall, a great experience.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience.....serviceGreat experience.....service was a little lacking but nothing worth not going for.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOnly after we were seatedOnly after we were seated did we find out that happy hour specials are only available at the bar, which was small and already full at 6:00pm on Thursday. After some inquiring to the hostess and the server the manager/owner moved us to a different table that he deemed to be in the bar section and therefore able to get happy hour specials. After that the service was great and the food was super tasty. Happy to have found a new great sushi place in Arlington!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Sushi in the area! ServerBest Sushi in the area! Server had excellent suggestion for Sake pairing with sushi.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite menuThe food, service and hospitality was outstanding. A bit pricey, but well worth the cost. We had two starters and two specials...all were extremely tasty. We can't wait to go back.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the dinner I had, itFrom the dinner I had, it is pretty clear what Sushi Rock's strengths and weaknesses are. In terms of strengths, the ambiance was great and the sushi was delicious. The menu is diverse and the rolls we ordered were gobbled up in seconds. Which brings me to the one weakness we saw. The reason we scarfed down the food so quickly was twofold: 1) the food was really good; 2) we were starving after the long wait to finally get the food. We were forewarned by the waitress that they were backed up, but we didn't end up leaving the restaurant until 2 hours later. Please staff up during peak times, and we will be very loyal customers.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally found my sushi/JapaneseFinally found my sushi/Japanese spot in Norva/DC! Been looking for 3 years since we left SoCal where even Ventura County has many to choose from. Unique spin on sushi and Japanese cuisine, well prepared and presented, with excellent service. (Some service issues reported here and on other sites appear to have been resolved since my last visit.) Bulgogi sliders? Wagyu beef sushi roll? Kimchi fried rice? Oh, yeah! Off the beaten path but fire up the Garmin and head over to the only local place that puts Santa Monica and other SoCal sushi joints to shame! Oh, and it appears to NOT be kid-friendly, which is a plus for us...3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
