A word from Sushi Rock
Sushi Rock is a combination of love, passion and perspective. It is the love to eat good food and drink well while doing so with great people. In providing the place for people to do this, Sushi Rock represents the perspective that both can be done in a fun and entertaining environment full of energy. Sushi Rock embodies the opportunity to be the local watering hole, the destination, the cozy meet-up place, the big group place or the special event place. Whatever the patrons needs, we believe Sushi Rock is the one place where everyone can feel comfortable in any size group sharing themselves, sharing a drink, and/or sharing good food. Continued

  • "sushi was average, service was average and ambiance was lacking. the trendy, neon-lit decor and too-loud for dinner conversation music mix (which wasn't really rock most of the time we were there) made for a passable experience. always glad to try new restaurants however this will not be one of our regular spots. go to old town, ax for the best sushi in the area..."

  • "The sushi was very good. Our favorite roll was the Volcano Roll - they gave a very generous portion of crab on top of it. The downside is that the seating is absolutely CRAMPED. It took the hostess about 5 minutes after we arrived just to decide where to seat us in the tiny restaurant, and then once she finally decided, she placed us at a tiny little table directly between two other tables. The tables on either side of us were less than a foot away, and so it was rather uncomfortable to be sitting so close to other people who were likewise just trying to have a nice dinner. Overall, not a bad restaurant, but not great."

  • "Excellent sushi. Great variety and taste. Ambiance and decorations are awesome."

  • "I love this place but under new management things have changed. They now charge $35 per person for large parties( like when you reserve a private room for corporation party or something). So if you wanted to dine there with group of friends it wouldn't work because everyone is responsible for their checks! Besides that nonsense I love the food and I highly recommend this place to anyone."

  • "We had a great first experience at Sushi Rock and will definitely return."

  • "Sushi rock has a good and fun atmosphere and the sushi was decent, but our service sucked. Luckily the server tried to make up for it with some free sake shots so the effort was appreciated but the experience would have been better if the service had been."

  • "The sushi is spectacular! The service is amazing and the owner, Steve, always makes sure your experience is superb! Make sure to order You Shook Me All Night Long! Best roll ever!"

  • "I've been here a few times and each time the experience is always a little bit more less than ideal. While the host tried to be accommodating they were flustered. When they sat us, they forgot to tell a server to pick us up as we were not in anyone apparent section. Luckily we were with friends and were able to talk amongst ourselves but the 25 minute wait time and the fact that we asked three different bussers find our server and they never did was a bit annoying. Not until we went to the host stand did anyone get us a server and when she walked up she seemed annoyed she had to wait on us. The quickest we ever saw her come to the table was to pick up the check."

  • "Empty early on Sunday night but the food still took quite some time to be prepared. However, it was still yummy. Have to try the braised beef buns and the tuna tower!"

  • "the food was ok, the makis where good but i had a wonton nachos with wasabi before that I though they made a great appetizer and now the recipe was change to pico de gallo, olives, jalapeños and cheese in a weird combination, The rest of the food was very good but service was not ok"

  • "Food was fine, but we went on New Year's Eve and they were setting up for a party. It was rather loud and the service was distracted, probably due to getting ready for the party. If I were in the area I might try again on a regular evening."

  • "We just went to Sushi Rock for the first time. Our kids, 9 and 11, came with us. Our 9 year old isn't a sushi fan but was immediately able to find something he would enjoy on the menu. We rate the sushi at the top of places we have tried in the DC area and will definitely return with and without the kids. Our server was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful deciding what we should order. She even went out of her way to take pictures for us being that it was New Year’s Eve. I would definitely recommend this restaurant over many other sushi places in the area."

  • "This was our second time at Sushi Rock and it was a great place to eat. The first time we were with a group and the food was fantastic. Food was great this time though my wife had wanted Uni and they were out of it. Staff was very friendly and brought out a tasty dessert for my wife's birthday."

  • "We went here for the sushi and.were very pleased. The crunchy dragon and rainbow sushi rolls were the best but we also enjoyed the eel and avocado and salmon and avocado rolls. You wnt be disappointed. We wnt for a late luch so resaurant was quiet."

  • "I cannot say enough good things about Sushi Rock in Courthouse. It is a really cool atmosphere, with pictures of rock stars on the walls, a grand piano that doubles as a table, and cymbals that are made into light fixtures, Sushi Rock seems to have nailed the decor of a "cool" spot. The food is every bit as good as the ambiance if not better. The sushi is better than the entrees, but both are good choices. Steve, the owner I think, is always around with a friendly smile and seems to know half the tables by name. I highly recommend you check it out!"

  • "We sat downstairs in the main dining room and there was a party going on upstairs on their half level terrace. Very energetic feeling and the food was great. From half priced drinks to the pork buns to the chef's specialty rolls I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu."

  • "This restaurant is very hip and the food is great. I think the manager must be a little bit deaf though, because they turn the music up to a level that makes it almost uncomfortable. They should keep the music energetic, but maybe turn it down just a little bit so you can at least hear the person next to you at dinner. Lunch time is a little better - not quite as noisy, and the food is still delicious."

  • "I had a one of the best experiences as my friends and I celebrated my birthday. I was very impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff for a larger group of 20. The dinner ran very smoothly and our waiters were more than willing to accommodate our requests. Not to mention, the food was great. I would highly recommend this restaurant esp for those with larger groups!"

  • "Tuna tartare was delicious, highly recommend. Also liked the volcano specialty roll--very filling. Very much enjoyed "Light My Fire"; it features a tasty sauce. Not equally impressed by "Free Fallin'" as it lacked the same flavorful taste as the other dishes."

  • "I have been twice in this place, first with a friend and then I was so delighted with the ambience and food that I decided to take my boyfriend there too. As sushi lovers this is probably the best sushi I have ever had, its just delicious! and the ambience is so romantic, in reds and lights that makes you feel that you are in the right place with the right person, definitively give it a look. An additional note: they keep posting coupons online with great deals!"

  • "So I have been to Sushi Rock a number of times and have been a repeat patron. My last visit was the worst one even though I made reservations. We were seated upstairs which is great, but our table was really meant for cocktails rather than dinner. While the meal was great, our actual table was horrible."

  • "We had a reservation on Friday night for four people and the hostess first presented us with a table for two. I asked if they had another table and they didn't, so she sat us upstairs in the lounge section. We waited a while before the general manager finally greeted us and took our drink order. After that, service was pretty rough - throughout the night, 3 different servers stopped by the table to take our order. The bottle of sake we ordered took over a half hour to come to our table and our water glasses never got refilled - I finally had to go to the server station and grab the water pitcher myself. The food was still good and the atmosphere of this place is nice, but overall, the experience was lacking."

  • "My girlfriend treated me to dinner here for my birthday and it was perfect! We dined on half-price wine night and very happily shared the 1L bottle of Malbec for $18.00. All the food is wonderful! The Light my Fire roll is superb! I expected the Stariway to Heaven roll to be a bit spicier due to the spicy yellowtail and habañero sauce, but it was pretty mild. The only negative for the night was that we were seated directly under a vent at the end of the island (in the middle of the restaurant) which blew cold air on us the entire dinner. Otherwise, service was great, food was a delight, and dinner was a treat."

  • "What a great place for fancy sushi rolls and great creations. Fresh ingredients and quality. I highly recommend to order some appetizers to start and order sushi as entree and give the kitchen plenty time to prepare. Sushi takes forever and the servers should mention that to the guest."

  • "Food was very tasty. It's unique themed restaurant. Service could have been better. The waitress was initially very attentive and then sort of forgot about us at some point. It became a real struggle to get what we needed, whether it was to refill the soy sauce bottle or our check."
    Dined on 11/2/2013
  • "The food was great the only negative was that we waited over an hour to get our sushi."
    Dined on 11/2/2013
  • "The food was great but service was a little slow. We waited a while before our server even greeted us. Then we ordered a bottle of wine before two tables next to us sat down and they still got their wine before us. I will be back though. Ramen soup and light my fire roll were awesome."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by this new neighborhood sushi bar. Although it is surrounded by construction, the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and quiet. The sushi was fresh and tasty. They forgot to bring our edamame and felt so bad about it they sent us home with two orders of edamame and everyone in the restaurant must have apologized to us before we left. The service was great. They really go the extra mile to make sure you have a good experience. We will be back."

  • "My date and I decided we wanted sushi for our anniversary dinner. We chose this uniquely decorated restaurant devoted to all things rock. The signature rolls were the highlight - I highly recommend the Volcano roll for great smoky flavor, or the Stairway to Heaven if you like a little heat. The classic rolls were just so-so. The whole place was decorated elaborately for Halloween. We were treated to a free sake tasting and really great service (the wait staff was quick to mop up and replace the glass of water I spilled). Overall, it's not the best sushi I've had, but the ambiance is interesting, and the staff friendly and attentive. Give Sushi Rock a try!"
