Welcome to Sushi of Gari Tribeca!
Sushi of Gari has been widely known by New Yorkers in almost 2 decades, and we are pleased to introduce you that this location is our 4th restaurant in the business district of Tribeca.
Masatoshi Sugio, a founder and an executive chef, has thrown a variety of his signature and creativity to New York Sushi-fan, and Sushi of Gari responds to ongoing demands from those who are accustomed to Japanese cuisine.
Needless to say, you will enjoy our tastes and atmosphere.

  • "Very small, typical, plain sushi place, not an interesting interior. No sushi bar, so you do not see chef making your sushi, is a minus in my openion. When I got there, the smell in the restaurant was horrible, I almost desided to leave because of that. The food was good, but not amazing, and for the price they charge I expect amazingly good! Will not come back and will not recommend."

  • "one of the best dinning experiences we have ever had. the food was unforgettable ! we had the omakaze for two . plus an 2 extra peices of unagi , two chefs choice sushi (fluke with quail egg- so crazy good!!!), and two seared spanish makerel with grilled mushrooms. on top of the food being some of the best sushi i have ever had in my life ( other than my month long japan tour and trip to Tsukiji Fish Market (world famous sushi eatery) I CAN EASILY SAY THAT THE WAITRESSES WERE EXTREMELY ATTENTIVE POLITE KNOWLEDGABLE AND JUST ON POINT I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW THEY JUST... KEPT REFILLING MY WATER OVER AND OVER AND OVER VERY VERY VERY GOOD WAITRESS SERVICE WAS PROVIDED I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK! BEST BIRTHDAY DINNER EVER!!!!!!!! "

  • "I am a big fan of Gari. We often go to the theater district restaurant just to be serves by him directly. Columbus is our favorite location because of the walnut table. The lighting in Tribeca is horrible and is like a bad diner, over lit. The noise is bad because the room is so small. The design elements are bit and miss. This room needs a feminine touch with more ambiance and subtle light. Horrible to say this but the server had halitosis and that is a big downer when eating a $400 meal. Despite the shortcomings, the food is always out of this world. Only order the Omakase or it's a waste of your money."

  • "What more can I say? Sat at the bar for pur meal. The sushi was very fresh, very tasty, and unique not only in its presentation but also in it's flavor. This is more than just sushi - it's like each piece is a perfect little entree on its own. Highly recommended for a special occasion. I should also mention that the sake selection is very nice.   • "I've been to most of the Gari locations and I must say the TriBeCa was the most disappointing. The chef was inconsistent with the omasake timing he was not only responsible for the bar but also all the take outs which took time away from the guests. Also, usually the chef recommends you to dip the sushi in soy or not which I didn't get.. I prefer sitting at the bar for the personal interaction you get with the chefs and I was basically overlooked the whole time. Not typical of other gari locations. The omasake was also not the best one Ive had, all in all I wouldn't go back to this location."

  • "We had the omakase at the sushi bar on the second floor. This was an exceptional sushi meal by any measure. There was a variety of sushi pieces, in all different flavors. We probably had close to 15 pieces. By far one of the best sushi meals we have ever had. We have not had sushi since that experience because we know nothing else will compare. The only qualification I would give is that after agreeing that we would eat sushi and sashimi, we just got one sashimi piece. Not a big deal, just odd."

  • "We enjoyed an early pre-show omakase dinner at Sushi-Gari Tribeca. As always, ingredients were very fresh and seasonal for both Sushi and Sashimi. Specifically, the Sushi are prepared with a lot of creativity, very often they are small dishes, not just a portion of fresh fish on rice. This can be very entertaining and enjoyable. It is - of course - a matter of taste, but we would prefer more traditional preparations of Sushi where the purity of the taste of ultra fresh fish comes out even clearer. Some more explanations by the friendly and attentive staff would be appreciated, the stiff bill would certainly justify such an effort."

  • "This small space consists of small tables set extremely close together and is almost communal. The space is more for for a grab n go cafeteria and not a fairly expensive Japanese restaurant on a remote comer in TriBeCa. The mostly trendy clientele didn't seem to be bothered by the tight uncomfortable space, but they were whispering over their dinner , not to be heard. There is no background music or noise, so you can hear the chewing and soup sipping of your closure table mates. In addition, even with a reservation they proceeded seat us at the door of the bar concession kitchen, only to bump me more than a few times. With so many excellent Japanese restaurants in Manhattan,I see no reason to eat at this restaurant."
