For a decade owner and chef Gari Sugio has run a sushi restaurant that is innovative in the way it serves sushi with both cold and warm ingredients, offering more than 130 varieties. Sushi of Gari 46 focuses primarily on serving Gari’s “Signature Omakase” Sushi dinner which shows off his expertise with marinated and spiced raw and slightly cooked ingredients, in addition to a menu of traditional Japanese dishes.   • "This is a favorite lunch and pre-theater spot since we work nearby and there is a deficit of good restaurants in the area. Sushi of Gari never disappoints. If you're looking for traditional sushi, this might not be the best choice for you. If you appreciate a creative take on raw fish, served with a variety of scrumptious toppings, you'll love this place. Don't miss the mille-feuilles cake for dessert. There's a good selection of sake to complement the fish. Service is always terrific and the room is attractive. A real surprise and treat among the touristy and mediocre places on Restaurant Row. The original east side location is more cramped but the food is of equal quality."

No saben decirte cuanto puede costar, depende de lo que comas.. no recuerdo exactamente pero creo que fueron 5 pases de 4 piezas cada uno Luego pedimos dos postres y 4 cervezas. En fin, la comida de calidad con interesante mezcla de sabores ..el servicio correcto pero la cuenta en mi opinion mas alta de lo esperado.. $373.00 incluido 15% propina Lo mas probable es que vuelva pero sin "menu sorpresa".."

  • "Waitress aggressively pushed me to up our sake bottle price knowing I was entertaining customers. Then the service was mediocre. At one point, it was a solid 20 minutes between omikase servings. Food was mostly very nice with interesting assortments. Presentation was good if not exceptional. 5 people omikase. 1 sake bottle, 4 beers, 2 wine glasses= $1,030. Not a great value when viewed as a whole. Recommended with an expense account with a good midtown location. Otherwise, there are far better quality and value around manhattan."

  • "We had the "chefs tasting menu" for dinner and it was below our expectation. The fish was great, very fresh. However the souces over the sushi were not what you would expect for a japanese place. We had a sushi tasting like pizza and another like a hotdog, with a lot of tomato souce over it. strange, and not what we were expecting for the night. I just wouldnt ask for the tasting menu again. All the rest was pretty good. The deeply fried soft crab shell for starter is a must! And the service is perfect."

  • "It seemed clear that the waitress was trained to aggressively try to sell the most expensive items on the menu, then hurry us through the meal and not take any cues nor offer basic conveniences, such as an extra dish or water for the table. Not a trace of real hospitality. Very disappointing, after having once liked this restaurant, now I won't go back. Sushi was good quality but nowhere near the best in the city (Yasuda in my book)."

  • "The sushi here can be seen as a fusion of sorts. Gari uses ingredients such as truffle oil, tomatoes, onions, etc. to put a modern twist. Not sure if it was worth the price (~$150 for 16 pieces), but it was an interesting experience. There were some great pieces, and some not worth the money. I recommend requesting the Santa Baraba uni, Salmon belly, and Toro. Stick to the plain and simple."

  • "Went with my husband for pre-theatre dinner. We decided on the omakase menu as we have chosen that option many times before at our favorite sushi joints in DC and Seattle. Unfortunately, Sushi of Gari 46 failed to impress. The food was good but nothing special. The big shock came when we got our check. It was $350 for two! We did get a $40 bottle of wine, but even with that we failed to see why this sushi was SO expensive, especially since it was only mediocre. We love our other sushi joints in DC (Sei, Sushi Taro) and Seattle (Nishino, Moshi Moshi) where the food is great and the price is reasonable for what you get. What a shame that Sushi of Gari 46 left a bad taste in our mouths - and a whole in our wallet!"

We love the Tuna of Gari and HIGHLY recommend it. As a side note, our daughter and friends went the night before for after a broadway show as a high school graduation present. The staff were very professional to the group and provided great service. They loved the food and the wide selection of sushi and cooked foods. "
