Sushi Kappo TamuraUnbelievably creative andUnbelievably creative and delicious, extremely fresh seafood and local produce, some from their own roof. Knowing, gentle staff and good sake selection.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGood atmosphere, sushi wasGood atmosphere, sushi was fresh. Best place for sea urchin!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed a wonderful mealWe enjoyed a wonderful meal at the sushi bar, fresh & delicious nigiri and rolls, nice Miso soup. Chef Taichi took great care of us, he is clearly a master sushi chef. I enjoyed watching him prepare omakase for guests seated next to us. I want to come back and try that sometime. The ambiance was pleasant, blond wood & soft lighting. The only negative was the ladies room. Since it was a one person room I was surprised that the hostess came out before me, leaving it in less than acceptable condition before returning to her spot at the front. We enjoyed our experience, but I didn't leave feeling like it was better than our usually frequented sushi restaurants in Seattle. I am not sure how soon we will come back, but I am glad we tried it.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFresher than freshYou're not going to get sushi that tastes this fresh anywhere else--or as delicious. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle hands down. Food, ambience, service, everything is spot on just like the live spot prawns, ha ha, dumb joke.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood not greatSome have placed this sushi restaurant at the top but we would not.
The service was slow and the sushi, although quite good, was short of remarkable.
The pricing was reasonable.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Sushi in SeattleThe ONLY thing lacking here was speedy service. If your willing deal with the slightly slow service you are in for a treat! The sushi was outstanding. The most tender and flavorful fish in the area that has obviously been cared to with the utmost detail. The rice was perfect, they use only a hint of vinegar which attracts all of your attention to the supremely delightful fish.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOft missed gemTook my family out for a special occasion. We had been here before so knew the food was good. Had a variety of things: the duck breast, assorted tempura, chawan mushi, oysters on the half-shell. Most memorable for me was the braised wagyu beef shoulder. It might not be the biggest menu but they definitely do everything really well, the only downside is its definitely on the expensive side so if you're prepared to splurge, this is definitely a place to try.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat discoverI do not go to japanese restaurants very often due to so many disappointments in Seattle area. Then my friend took me to Sushi Kappo Tamura the other day. OMG! I am so happy to discover this one. So I wanted to share the happy experience with my friends who love good food. 4 of us went for their mother's day, special Kaiseki set. Wonderful food, we did not leave one single grain of rice on the dish!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's day experienceVisited for dinner on Mother's day. Service was excellent, and the food was fantastic. After having read several reviews which recommended omakase (chef's choice), but only seeing it as a footnote in the menu, I had to ask about it. I found out it is 7 courses and $100 per diner. A little beyond our reach. We went for the "tasting menu" instead, which was still 5 courses and more than enough food. The mustard greens and albacore with almond wasabe sauce was a fantastic opener, the duck was wonderfully tasty, and the sushi exquisite. The honey quince yogurt panna cotta at the end was just divine. Overall, not the sort of experience we can afford often, but worth it for a special occasion.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWhat a wonderful presentation for Mother's Day. It was delicious and beautiful. Count me in for the next special occasion meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest sushi everWe have been to Kappo Tamura many times and have yet to find a selection that we did not find ourselves raving about on the trip home.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMdonijiWhile the atmosphere is minimalist and the restaurant has no view, the service was very good and the food was outstanding. My friends enjoyed the sashimi while I savored the black cod, which was buttery tender and delicious.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTry it!We chose the tasting menu. While the sushi was merely good, all the other dishes were exquisite. The duck was melt-in-your mouth and the dessert brilliantly citrusy.
Our server was poorly informed and indifferent. When we asked her about the omakase menu, she gave a non-answer and shrugged. She plopped each course down on the table with a one or two word name and disappeared. after a lengthy discussion regarding beverages, she forgot to bring it until we inquired near the end of our meal. I asked for more tea to go with the dessert course and she never came back, except to deliver the check.
But if your are looking for a splendid Japanese food experience, sushi kappa tambura delivers.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMYour next hot spotFantastic meal. Ambiance was superb.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting menu, a great introductionFor our first time at Sushi Kappo Tamura the tasting menu provided a delicious and interesting variety of offerings with 8 different sushi selections including tasty seared scallop, melt in the mouth hamachi and a grouping of salmon nigiri. The starter of mustard greens & WA albacore tuna dressed with almond wasabi sauce and the honey yuzu yogurt panna cotta were notable beginning and ending to a fine meal.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWell thought out sushi dishesWell thought out sushi dishes and presentation.
