The sushi was only so so and defenately not worth the prices. There are many other less expensive sushi restaurants in Seattle with better fish. It is also located in out of the way eastlake. Skip this place and get better sushi elsewhere.

Really nice restaurant with really outstanding service. The sushi was great and we had the Omakaze menu which was very good. The a la carte menu was outstanding and particularly the sesame dressing on the albacore and the sautéed Geoduck. The Sake selection was first class. Overall a really great dining experience, just bring your wallet!

Overall, the strongest point of the restaurant is the quality of the food, especially the freshness of the sushi. The able hands of the chef and a very interesting sake list makes the rest. To top it off it is reasonably priced. A must if you want sushi in Seattle

Went because it was rated one of the Top 10 Best Sushi places in the United States by Bon Appetit magazine. Compelling. ordered Omakase because it gives the chef a chance to really show his talents, and we don't want to order off the menu. We want to be WOW'd. We're not california-roll type of diners. Dishes (sushi & traditional alike)were creative, fresh, delicious. Service was above & beyond. great selection of Sake - and they have flights of sake!! Nice atmosphere; well designed, decorated. Perfect for date night. Great for experienced sushi diners. will become regulars here!

My husband and I dined at there the other night and had a delicious meal. The sushi was ok, nothing special I thought, but the main courses like the pork stew and steamed halibut were phenomenal. Both were cooked to perfection which had a great accompaniment with broth or sauce. The portions were a bit small and we left wanting just a bit more. However, I think this place was a great find and worth checking out.

having known the yelp reviews prior, i had a bit high expectations for the sushi/sashimi. hence, i ordered the okamase. the first course were a carefully laid out of 3 oysters. i slivered each onto my tongue. had couple seconds to taste. then swallowed. not the best, however, not too bad. just the ordinary oysters one can get at a franchise or family-friendly chain restaurant. then came a hot egg dish in crab/bok choy. again, edible, though i have had a couple in hong kong and shanghai that are irresistable. as a teaser, and i guess presentation, live jumping shrimp. not to eat right away. though was quite startled, but in laughter. then the cooked shrimp in a tasty butter sauce. next the test--sushi/sashimi. disappointment. grocery-qualit

Have always wanted try Sushi Kappo Tamura and finally got around to it. Really nice restaurant, parking wasn't too bad in that part of Eastlake. Had a bottle of Sparkling Sake that server recommended which was delicious. Decided to try a little bit of everything on the menu. The best items I had was the Sashimi which just melted into your mouth, Albacore/Mustard greens salad which while small was super tasty, and the Duck which was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately everything else we ordered really missed the boat and was a little disappointed considering the restaurants good rep.

the sushi was very fresh, but small in portion. We had specified that this was supposed to be a birthday dinner, but there didn't appear to be any recognition of this ask. The miso soup was poorly made, too many chinese style ingredients as well as being too bland. For the price, I will stick to places like Shiro's.

Maybe my expectation was too high-it was Restaurant of the Year 2011. But I felt the food was just overall good and clean rather than extradordianry. I drove to the place from east side on a heavily rainy day but it wasn't worth the trip. One best thing I can say about their food is that their miso soup was not salty-unlike most Japanese restaurants in the U.S.

The decor of the restaurant was very nicely put together. The wait staff and hostess were polite and professional. The prices were steap for sushi that wasn't exceptional. It's too bad that the food didn't match up with the atmosphere and the service. It was just OK. And, in a city where you can get great sushi for great prices I thin Sushi Kappo Tamura might need to adjust their pricing structure to remain competative.

Five of the eight of went the omakase route, with the others going a la carte. The food was simply fabulous. There was a little trouble with them syncing the a la carte orders with the omakase, with a gap in service for the a la carte folks, but I can understand that. Both the sushi and the hot items & salads were top notch.

This was our dedicated sushi meal for our recent visit to Seattle and it did not disappoint us. We started the meal with the high end flight of saki and appetizer of oysters that were both devine. The service was very helpful and graciously answered all of our questions about the menu. The server directed me to order ala carte from the sashimi menu in order to get the most variety. We ordered the salmon, hamachi toro, tuna toro and scallops - all amazingly tasty. We also had the salmon collar and our son got a cucumber roll and california roll. On to dessert that was great. My son discovered the joy of creme brule and there is now no turning back. Parking was not an issue on the street the night we dined and ambience was pleasant.
