Using local and seasonal ingredients is the most important element in Japanese cuisine. It also has become the primary principle for the international culinary community. With commitment to that philosophy, Tamura features seasonal ingredients of the Pacific Northwest in authentic Japanese preparation.

Tamura is a Kappo style restaurant where food is prepared in an open kitchen and served quickly in a lively environment where staff and guests talk about the food and beyond. Our goal is to become the very best restaurant to our guests by getting to know them and serving them in a personable yet professional manner.

Why would they call it appetizer on the menu for the restaurant week, they just should call it side dish despite of quantity and pace of the food it was def. a side dish not appetizer. I ordered Chirachi bowl, evert Japanese sushi restaurant I go, I always order Chirachi bowl, and Sushi Kappo's Chirachi was one of the bottom list. Rice was under seasoned, fish was diced up with poor quality of handling and lots of small scrape of the fish. if this is one of the ways of getting rid of bad cut or un-fresh fish. Thy did it Correct. This wasn't our first time of dining here, but certainly last time."

  • "This is a very decent Sushi restaurant. It is a bit expensive for the food you get. The quality is on par with most other good sushi places around Seattle. You can find a better deal for the value elsewhere. The service was very good. Unless you are not concerned about spending $200+, I would suggest you skip it. Apparently, if you are a regular or know the staff, they give you all the "so called" good cuts of sashimi sitting at the sushi bar. Otherwise save your money."

Go early for a more sedate, quiet meal, as the noise level can get quite elevated as the bar crowd rolls in latter in the dinner hour."

  • "Besides being near the action, and talking to Kitamura-san during your meal, you can chat with people next to you, an experience not so common in most American restaurants. Ask the chef what to order. He serves fresh catch; sometimes types of fish you have never tried, so would not even know to order. If you have never eaten Japanese cooked fish, order something. Many Americans seem to think that Japanese restaurants only serve raw fish. Ask him what sake pairs with your food."

  • "This is extremely fine Japanese food that is entirely recognizable from within the tradition while doing unusual things with tastes and textures. The farthest out dish was the yuzu yogurt panna cotta, obviously something that no Japanese grandma ever grew up with, and probably the only item we had that edged into the realm of "fusion," but boy was it an eye-opening dessert after what amounted to a superb Japanese breakfast served on lovely stoneware."

Oysters were delicious, a bit salty. lobster and tofu soup was very good. would have wanted another lobster piece. Delicious delicious sashimi on greens, then best fish piece ever afterward. Great desert too. Sake came into fat shot glasses were great too and good value for the pairings."

  • "Wonderful little place with great sushi and beautifully warm and friendly staff. Saki options are good and priced just right. Miso is a little different from the same old at other places. They serve oysters on half shell and a very tasty dungeness crab roll. The sashimi combo is a great entree to use as your main coarse, adding either an ippin or sushi roll to it. Super nice place and we'll be back!"

The service was terrible, it took a while for the waitress to even notice we were there, she forgot my salad that I ordered, and she never came around to ask if we needed anything so I never got a refill on my soda."

His sushi is brightly beautiful and melts in your mouth, flavorful and fatty. But our family favorite is his chawanmushi, a simple and perfect egg custard with black cod and crab that reveals the emotional tone of his food for me: comfort food done very well. Fish and meats are seasonal, local, sustainable, and vegetables are harvested from the rooftop garden."

The server could see what was going on as she served tables around us, yet when she brought the check, which I gave her the credit card for immediately, she didn't bring it right back. Instead she dropped it off and went to a few other tables before she came back with it. Very disappointing. Perhaps they need either more servers or fewer tables."

  • "This restaurant was perfect. I came here on NYE with a date. The restaurant was quiet and comfortably quiet for couples. We ordered a wonderful tasting menu for one and a few extra items a la carte to share. Every course on the tasting menu was great, except the oysters were on the salty side. The duck course was cooked perfectly but I usually prefer the layer of fat cooked off more. Everything else was amazing! Our server was also very friendly and relatable. Courses were served in timely manner. No major complaints overall! Definitely try this place!"

  • "We did the Full Omakase dinner. there were 3 of us. The food was well prepared, fresh and the cooked dishes were spectacular. The sashimi course was delectable but sall and the ngiri (sushi) course was tasty but not amazing and again inadequate. The bottom line is we paid $100 apiece for three of us and were still hungry. when the waitron offered us that the 'sweet course was about to come out' we ordered an additional round of sashimi (which pushed our total to over $120 apiece!) and even then we were not full. The 'sweet course' was a cut up persimmon with no other preparation. The first four courses were super-tasty (from the kitchen) but the sashimi and sushi were only good, desert lame, and overall we left hungry. :("

Service was great from the minute we sat down and were given a warm washcloth for our hands. The bento style lunch was excellent. The panna cotta dessert was the perfect end to a really wonderful meal. Highly recommend it and will go back again soon."
