Diner Reviews
  • "I initially booked for 12 people on a Monday night with no problems. It also wasn't a big deal when we had to call & change the total to 9 after a few drop outs. We ordered ala carte and paid more than we would have for the all you can eat option but after reading reviews regarding the quality of the all you can eat we decided to go with individual rolls. Friendly staff and service all around."

  • "This is a great place for sushi in north beach area. Went with friends and my little one. Food was excellent, atmosphere was fun, had a nice time."

  • "Great all you can eat menu! Very friendly staff! Highly recommended!"

  • "If its all about the food, then this place is great. Great Toro, great Salmon belly sashimi. The ambience leaves a lot to be desired. It's not the type of sushi place where the sushi chefs welcome through the door with a vibrant welcome in their native language, but the food is really good so you may not care. "

  • "I've been to Sushi Hunter twice and I really love that place. Food is great and the staff is great!"

  • "Stopped by sunday night for quick bite. Casual ambient. Food portion is rather small for the price. Was not impressed with food quality and service."

  • "Very good sushi, without the wait. Great for groups. They have an all-you-can-eat option (currently $28 on weekends, $25 on weekdays), which has a fairly lengthy list of appetizers, nigiri and rolls to choose from. The sushi is made to order vs. being a buffet style, so the sushi is always fresh. Their menu also had lots of additional a-la-carte options. If you like something a little spicy, I particularly recommend the Devil roll -- it was surprisingly delicious!"

  • "We loved Sushi Hunter! Fresh sushi, great service, overall yum!!! We have ton ego some of the best Sushi places in our travels and this one is a find!"

  • "Sushi Hunter is our favorite catchall. Our group varied from carnivore to herbivore and yet they manage to satisfy everyone."

  • "We had made reservations based on previous comments. Was a nice restaurant, comfortable and uncluttered. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Only drawback was that their internet was down so we had to pay with cash. We were prepared for that but may have impacted other would-be diners."

  • "Sushi Hunter is a little hidden gem we love to go to, but only a couple times a year. The sashimi was fresh and the Devil Roll was warm and delicious too!!"

  • "I've been here for 2 of my birthdays already and each time, it has been a delight. The all you can eat option is always my fav. The staff is extremely helpful if you're not sure what to order, but everything is good on their menu. Try the Hamachi Kama - we had to order a 2nd one because we loved it so much!"

  • "We really liked our food and the service was very nice and we had a good time. We like the openness of the dining room. The only downer was that the dining room was 90F and it's not great eating sushi in extremely hot rooms. We've been there before and it seems like we always go on Friday nights which is always packed and the noise levels can be quite high. But complements on the service. That I most appreciated. Keep that up and we'll be back again!"

  • "The menu is extensive with variety of good Japanese food (both sushi and traditional dishes). Happy Hour is reasonably priced and a very good value. The all-you-can-eat option is also a very good value with a variety of menu options. We didn't eat off their regular menu. However, it appeared also to be a good value. We went on a Wed night and it was not very crowded. I can figure out why. I would recommend Sishi Hunter and plan to go back again."

  • "It was my 40th Birthday celebration, It was a bit disappointing when our party ordered the all you can eat sushi, it took awhile to get our food & was swerve in one big plate, which was ok but our party was 5 so it was hard for me to reach the food, also I asked for water and the waitress totally forgot."

  • "Hunt no longer for the very best sushi in town. Sushi is top notch and they take special requests and we always order too much because everything is so good. Ask for off the menu items like the hot roll. The lion king roll is insane and new favorite is the volcano roll. We simply go nowhere else for sushi."

  • "Great experience for a birthday get together. They were able to take reservation for 8 people with no problem. Service was good. Food selection was big enough to accomondate even people who doesn't like sea food. They also have decent selection of sake. Just can't beat this place for the price. Definitely a place for return business."

  • "Food was decent but not spectacular. Sushi rolls smaller than expected for the price. Service was good though. However, menu page on OpenTable needs to be updated as it advertises "eat-all-you-want" price for Mondays for $22.95 and new price is $25.00."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here for sushi after seeing that it had "all you can eat". Man, we had a feast. The rolls are overall pretty great - we used this opportunity to get adventurous and try some new things like The Big Easy (good), the BBQ eel roll (fantastic) and the range of spicy rolls (great)."

  • "Great spot for sushi in North Beach. Reasonable prices for large portions. Food was fresh, energetic, and most of all, delicious. Will be returning."

  • "We celebrated a birthday with 10 people and the all-you-can-eat sushi. It was a wonderful way to try a number of different food items and the quality and quantity was fine for us (not really sushi connoisseurs). My only complaint was that one of the party had to join us when we had all finished eating, and she had to pay the all-you-can-eat price as well even though she only had time to eat a small amount. It seemed odd that they couldn't let her order off of a different menu."

  • "This place was fun and yummy, but really nothing special. We had a great waitress, Linda, who took awesome care of us and was really sweet. For a big eater though, this place could be a really good option with their all you can eat business for about $30. We had fun overall nonetheless!"

  • "Right around the corner from Beach Blanket Babylon. Dinner was delicious. The 360C roll was gorgeous and vibrantly flavorful. The small sashimi platter was more than enough to share. Service was excellent. Fun, hip atmosphere. Good pricing."

  • "Good value for sushi, especially when you're tired of pasta in North Beach. The TV is always on with house music pretty much blaring at high volume. Don't go for the ambiance go for the food."

  • "Most all you can eat buffet's suffer form lack of variety and mediocre quality. Sushi Hunter has bypassed both, delivering an all encompassing menu at a very reasonable price. The best part is that the sushi is great. This gem makes me miss living in North Beach."
    Dined on 6/3/2011
  • "I've always been hesitant about going to an all you can eat place especially a sushi place and even more so because the outside had no curb appeal and you couldn't see the interior. We finally tried it and was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was good, lots of variety between sushi and cooked foods, and that the interior was quite modern/trendy and clean. I would definitely come back."
