"I really like this place, would've had five stars for food except they were out of a lot of stuff. Kinda weird that they were out of a lot of stuff on a Friday night, but here we are. Has cool ambiance, good music, great date spot. Except don't go there cause I like it when it's not busy. :)"

"Great Sushi as usual! been here several times ....this particular night was thrown off by the server asking us for "cash" when she dropped the check and the club music turned up just a little too loud for dinner conversation....other than that, great expereince and delicous sushi!"

"We've been going here for many years but our last visit was a little strange. The service was distracted, there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the open kitchen door which maybe explains the distracted service. Food was fresh and well prepared but many items were left off or delivered late. At the end of the meal, the server pleaded with us to pay in cash and not give her a debit or credit card. In fact when she finally took a debit card, the cashier sent her back to make another plea for cash. Overall -- odd experience."

"The food was outstanding, as always. The fish was fresh. That's the good.

Now the bad: That night they had almost no wait staff and apparently the hostess didn't show up for work. I called at 4pm to change the number of people in my party for my 8:15pm reservation. They never called me back to confirm they had received my voicemail. When we arrived, they did kindly accommodate two extra people in our party. Drink order took an hour to arrive. Sake cups took 30 minutes from when the hot sake arrived. The one waitress in the whole place tried to bring our check before she took our dinner order! The manager finally made our drinks personally. 3 hours later, the terrible waitress had the audacity to include an 18% tip on our bill"

"My friend recommended this place and I really liked it. Some of the rolls were really flavorful (even plain since I forgot my gluten-free soy sauce). Nice lighting, nice atmosphere, good DJ without the music being dominant. They apparently were short staffed so food was a little slow but typically when that happens restaurants don't go so out of their way to make up for it. Our waitress was great and brought us some free drinks, I was feeling pretty nice when I left. I was happy to have started off my 30th birthday celebration there."

"After being seated at 7pm the server didn't offer me a beverage until 7:15. We finally ordered drinks but by 8pm they still had not arrived. I spent 12 years working in this industry and find myself very patient and understanding when it comes to service snafoos, but this was beyond bad. There were 4 other tables in the place and our server never checked in with us to let us know why we had been waiting an hour for a glass of wine. Who knows how long this may have gone on, but at this point we decided this was a clear indication we should move to the bar and eat there. They seemed understaffed as the bartender was doing a lot of the hosting and serving and tending to the bar. The one saving grace was the delicious food. I will not return."

"Hadn't been in almost a year. Food has definitely gone downhill. Didn't taste fresh. Plus when we got there were only three tables and music was blasting. Don't remember the waitress coming over to check on us or ask if we wanted to order more."

"I used to love this place but unfortunately the service has gone way down hill. The hostest was an air head and it was super loud with obnoxious people doing sake bombs. The food is still very good, however the waitress messed up part of the order, twice, and then gave us an attitude about it. It may be better on a week night than a weekend night (went on a saturday). Its unfortunate because its moderately priced, good sushi. I'm going to head elsewhere next time. Sorry!"

"Unfortunately something is happening at Sushi Groove South. SGS has been a long time favorite up until now. A lot of food items had not been ordered, some menu items had been removed all together but the menu hadn't updated, there was one server covering all the tables, food and drinks never came out and had to be ordered multiple times. It was one of the strangest experiences I have ever had as a diner. All the tables around us had the same experience. It was clear they were understaffed, under ordered, and under managed. I hope this is just temporary and management sorts things out. Would be a shame to loose this place."

"On Valentines day there was one waiter, one bar tender and two sushi chefs. It took 40 minutes to get our drinks and 50 minutes to get half our food. The rest of the food never came out."
